Broke after two weeks,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] (Toy)
I purchased this camera for my children (6,4 & 2 yrs old) They loved it! Especially that it had a screen where they could actually see the picture they took. I wanted a camera that was durable. It uses up batteries pretty fast. And after 2 weeks, the camera just stopped working. My kids did not drop it or even play rough with it. I tried different batteries, but it just would not turn on. What an expensive mistake I made buying this camera. For something that is supposed to be kid-tough, I don't think it is at all.

Well, whaddya want?,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] (Toy)
I'm glad it's cheaper than the original Kid Tough camera. I've never used the original or tried the Vtech brand...the resolution does suck. My phone is smaller and takes better pictures. It has been through drops and still works. Haven't tested it's waterproof feature yet. My daughter is 3 and is very petite. She has a hard time positioning her fingers to apply enough pressure on the shutter button. She also gets too excited about the shutter noise. As soon as she hears it, she thinks it's done and all of the images come out blurry. We'll work on that. I have to keep getting a screwdriver to open the battery port which includes the miniUSB port every time I transfer the pictures. I wish there was a wrist strap. Well, it's fun to her and her almost 2 yr old sister. I don't have to worry about them breaking my $1500 digital camera anymore.

We just got this for our 8 year old and she loves it. I went with this one from the other fisher price one due to this one was only $45.00 compared to $70 range for the one on the Fisher Price web site. This one differs in that it does not have a SD slot. It does have 64mb of flash memory which lets it hold 170 pictures at the hightest quaility which is 640 x 480. It does seem to go through the batteries quick, but that could be because my daughter took over 200 pictures in an hour and looked at some and deleted some from the camera. It does have a built in flash. I have not downloaded any pictures to the computer yet. The instructions say it will be detected as a mass storage device. It does not come with any software but does have the usb cable to connect it.

I purchased this camera in July 2008 and found that after taking just a few photos, the camera either would not turn on or, by pressing the power button multiple times, it might or might not turn on and then it might or might not quickly turn itself off. Taking out the batteries and putting them in a battery tester would show that the batteries still had a like-new charge. Putting the batteries back in or putting in another brand-new set of 4 AAA alkaline batteries might or might not temporarily help.
I tried using different brands of fresh and new alkaline batteries (Eveready, Duracell, Kodak, Panasonic, and Rayovac) and had precisely the same results. Given that the owner's manual only recommends alkaline batteries and specifically states "do not use rechargeable batteries", I did not bother to experiment with anything except alkalines. Assuming that my camera was defective, I exchanged it on October 30, 2008 and I had precisely the same performance with the second sample. I see that a number of the reviews here are noting my same problem. I cannot understand how ANY the reviewers here could give this camera more than 1 star unless their sample of the camera did not exhibit this problem. If that's the case, Fisher-Price has a major quality control problem and you should only purchase it only if you are willing to deal with the consequences of it not working properly. Another issue is that Fisher-Price appears to sell two different cameras with exactly the same name - "Fisher-Price Kid-Tough digital camera". Mine is the one that typically sells for $60, is available in pink or powder blue, and has three molded-in stripes on the side hand-holds. The other version has a textured pebble finish on the side hand-holds. Maybe that other model performs better and the reviews are getting interchanged between the two models?? I don't know why, but Fisher-Price makes it hard to find a model number for my version. There's no number on the packaging. However, on the bottom of the camera, in very small type, it says M8071/M8072. On the back of the owner's manual, it says M8071a-0920. Neither of these is labeled as a model number. It's a shame that this camera has the problem I describe. Otherwise, I think it's fantastic. Sure, the image quality is terrible, but, hey , it's just a toy and my kids (ages 3 and 6) absolutely love it when it works. For them, it's easy and fun to use. Plus, if you believe what it says on the packaging, it is "water proof!" and "BUILT TO SURVIVE DROP, AFTER DROP, AFTER DROP!" However, what's the point if you can't turn it on?

We returned this camera because the quality was nowhere near that of our own digital camera, which our daughter has been used to. The display and the pictures come out quite blurry. Before buying this product, be sure to look online for sample pictures taken by this camera. We're getting an Argus camera instead. Remember, it's made by Fisher Price so it's a TOY camera.

My daughter is really enjoying this camera. Easy buttons/functions. Case is a great accessory. I was able to easily upload photos to my laptop. I haven't figured out yet if I can upload to an online site such as shutterfly but plan to work on that. Directions could have been more thorough.

The only two complaints I really have is that the quality of pics could be better. I understand it's a kid camera, but my cell phone takes better pics! The other thing is that it eats batteries up fast. We've already replaced the batteries 3 times, and it's only been played with 3 times.

We got this for our 3yo and she loves it! Compared to the very first one that came out (our 6yo got one 3yrs ago) I think the buttons have to pushed down a lot harder and that might be diffucult for some. I like how there is a way to have a higher resolution. The camera goes from 640x480 to 1280x960. All in all, I think this is a great camera for little one's!
