Bought this for my son. It was really cute and fun to place with. He loved it. The picture quality on the thing isn't too great though. But for a 3 year old, does it have to be? My son enjoyed the rotating camera feature the best because he liked being able to take pictures of himself and see them. I don't recall him dropping it really hard or anything, however, I just went to turn it on and it's not working. Changed to fresh batteries...nothing. So I paid fifty bucks for a toy that lasted a couple of months. Crazy. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone.

UPDATE: Ok so I have to submit an update. After a lot of playing around to get this thing to work, I found that the batteries weren't hitting the sensors or whatever properly and that's why it wasn't working (fingers crossed). I hope that's all it was. We were able to get it working again now. Seriously, I worked with this thing for over an hour so I'm hoping that's all it was. And my son is already intrigued by it again. Even though the picture quality isn't great...I still have to give it 4 stars for capturing my sons attention and the fun quality of the toy. Hopefully it will stay working because it looks like the new model doesn't have the rotating camera feature...that's the best part (for my son anyway). I'll update again if we have any more problems.

My four year old son got this camera for his birthday in the summer. He took to it right away and absolutely LOVED it. He loves flipping around the lens and taking all sorts of pictures of himself. The battery life is OK. When he uses it a lot the batteries are gone within about two weeks which is fine for me. The sound effects are not an issue for me either. In fact, it is nice because I like to know when he is taking pictures and videos. There have been several times he turns on the camera during times I in the bathroom or something and I am able to tell him to turn it off before he gets any shots of me using the potty.

The one killer for me is the durability. Since he is four and drops it a lot, the camera has begun to have all sorts of issues. It freezes ALL THE TIME and each time it does he has to bring it to me and I have to take out the batteries to "restart" the camera. When he drops it I have also noticed the SD card comes loose so multiple times I have had to open up the camera just to put the SD card back in.

One of the worse things that happens is when he drops it while recording. It usually freezes up and then when I restart the camera it looses all the pictures. I then have to put the SD card in my computer and it is clear that the files have become corrupted. I have to reformat the SD card (losing all the pictures) in order for the card to work properly again.

Overall I like the camera but I would caution you about the durability. It is definitely not "kid-tough", at least not tough enough for my kid.

After spending several months researching this product I finally ordered it for my son for his 3rd birthday given the great reviews and promise of durability. I gave it to my son and it worked for less than 24 hours. He was exceptionally careful not to drop it in the little time he did have use of it and so I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. Not only did I expect more from a Fisher Price product, I expected more from the 4.5 stars this product got.

I think it would be a good product if only it worked.

I've dropped this camera so many times and it still works. I've also took videos with this camera and it looks great. I am very techy and this is a great starter digital camera. The berries last a long time too. He got it for Xmas when he was 2. But he turned 3 recently and i havent needed to replace the batteries.

This gift for my grandson is a purchase I will never regret! I does exactly as promised and though I am not sure of the educational value, the fun-factor is off the chart. Isn't that what a grandma is for?

We decided to send one of these cameras to each of our FIVE grandkids for X-Mas 2011. This one for the boys and the purple/pink for the girls. They were truely a hit!!

Three went to the same house in Tulsa, OK; two girls, 7 and 9 years, and a boy, 3 years old, who is particularly rough on everything. His camera has been used as a 'hammer' and it still works fine. The kids immediately began shooting pics and videos. They loved the on-screen things they could do, like put 'hats' on their Guinea pig, 'horns' on their Mom, etc. They also loved flipping the lens for 'self-portraits'.

My daughter entered the living room and thought it was a paparazzi ambush....clickety, clickety, click. Too Funny! Their sweet little neighbor girl didn't get one for X-Mas; so, we sent one to her, too. Another happy camper! That makes six cameras.

One went to a 5 year old in Phoenix, AZ, who is using it to illustrate his own homemade books; and, he's producing his own videos, too. Little genius!

Now, we have two little B-Days in our neighborhood, and that means two more cameras. We're up to eight cameras, now!

Regarding people's comments on poor picture quality: Hey, it's a toy!! And, we have yet to hear a single complaint from ANY of these kids. To the contrary, we received phone calls from excited children who abandoned their other gifts to explore their world with these great cameras. I just got off the phone with my daugher; and my I.T. son-in-law remarked that the picture and video quality is excellent; so, if there were problems, they must've been corrected. No recharging problems, as they use 4 AA batteries, which are easily replaced.

I also give the 'frustration-free' packaging a 5-star rating. Just open, point and shoot!
