5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh & Learn Table compared to LeapStart Learning Table
We purchased both a Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Table and a LeapStart Learning Table. The plan was to see which one our daughter (7 months at the time) liked best. We would keep the one she liked best at home and send the other to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Here is how the two compare.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good - but the LeapFrog one is better
I purchased this one - because I thought spending 40 - 45 bucks on a learning table was a bit too much, and this one seemed pretty good for around $30.

It's definitely educational, cute toys on it, but plays a LOT of the same songs the other "Laugh & Learn" products do. The alphabet and number song? Yeah, EXACTLY the same on the Learning Puppy that our son...

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh & Learn Table compared to LeapStart Learning Table, August 15, 2006

We purchased both a Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Table and a LeapStart Learning Table. The plan was to see which one our daughter (7 months at the time) liked best. We would keep the one she liked best at home and send the other to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Here is how the two compare.

1. The Fisher Price table is shorter than the LeapStart table and baby seems to be able to pull up on it at a younger age. Baby can also sit at the Fisher Price table easier because it is lower.

2. Both have stable legs and do not tip over when baby leans up against them or pushes on them. Both have legs that can be removed for floor play when baby can not stand. (We never used it this way because our daughter was early to stand.)

3. Both have a learning mode with ABC song and counting to 10 song and a musical mode.

4. In the musical mode the Laugh and Learn table plays tunes to familiar children's songs. It has a traditional feel to the music. The LeapStart table has music based on the different instruments on the table such as a banjo tune, a sax sound, etc. and it has a jazzier feel to the music.

5. The Laugh and Learn table has a food theme and looks like a set table. In the learning mode concepts such as color, shapes, texture, manners, shapes, open/shut, empty/full, peek-a-boo, and naming of common items such as apple, blueberries, banana, juice, etc. The LeapStart table has a musical theme with instruments such as a piano, maracas, sax, violin, and banjo. In the learning mode concepts include colors, shapes, high, low, on, off, hello, goodbye, etc.

6. On the Laugh and Learn table the parent has to change the mode. On the LeapStart table the child can change the mode by turning the page on the book in the center of the table.

7. The Laugh and Learn table has a bowl in the center that spins and can hold favorite objects. The LeapStart table has a small purple door that can hold favorite objects in the indentation underneath the door.

As a parent, I like the LeapStart table more. The music is parent friendly and even after repeated use, it does not annoy adults. I also like the different musical instruments and musical sounds that are introduced. That said, my daughter (now 9 months) likes the Laugh and Learn table better. She likes putting objects like small balls, Cheerios, and her pacifier in the bowl in the center. She also likes the peek-a-boo napkin with the peas underneath which says "Peek-a-boo. I see you." when she opens the door. It makes her laugh. Another favorite is the spoon rattle that can be removed from the table and the alphabet letters that float in the water sealed in the bowl that move around when the bowl spins. This is her favorite toy. She does play with the LeapStart table at her Grandparents house now, but her attention span is short with this toy. She can play with her Laugh and Learn table for long periods of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clever and colorful teaching tool, July 29, 2005

At just the right height for little ones, this Laugh and Learn table is perfect for tots who have learned to stand up; take the legs off and your baby can enjoy it too. With lots of colorful and cute make believe foods like pizza, a cookie and a fruit bowl, your child can learn A-B-C's, colors, shapes, 123's, along with interesting textures and adorable (non-annoying to adults) music! The flashing lights are not blinding like on some other toys, which is a big plus.

We received this as a gift when our daughter was two and she and her little sister have gotten hours of enjoyment from it. A good investment, though I think the price could come down just a bit to be completely worth it.

The two level volume control comes in handy too. The floating alphabet soup is just adorable, and your little one can pretend they're eating with the red smiley face spoon, just keep an eye on that piece since it tends to fall off easily and disappear.

Recommended for 6 months to three years, but I think best age to really learn and appreciate the toy is between 18-30 months.

My son received this toy for his first birthday and he LOVES it. He loves to pull up on it & swish the wheel around to make the music start- then start dancing to it. Too cute! I love the fact that it is educational and the sounds are not super annoying AND that there aren't a million pieces to get lost for it. Hands down it is his favorite toy at a year old. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this - 5 stars., November 5, 2004

I bought this for my son when he was about 6 months. We used it then without the legs attached. He loved it. As he learned to pull up on things we attached the legs. They were made different then and it flipped over on him very easily, which scared him. But he liked playing with it so much he kept at it. As I said, the legs are made differently now and it looks much more stable. If you have a little one just learning to pull up, you might try one out in the store to make sure it doesn't flip. Or, you could just leave the legs off until they are more proficient at pulling up. My son is now turning two and he still really likes this toy. I think toys are worth the investment if it will hold their attention for this length of time.

My daughter is 8 months going on 9 and she absolutely loves this toy! She is very active and likes to get into everything! When we opened up this toy, she played with it for over 30 minutes! She still likes to crawl around the house but then she goes back to the table. I agree with the other reviewers that the legs are short, they could be a bit longer for any growing baby. My daughter especially liked this table over the Leap Frog table because of the lights in the soup bowl. I think there could have been a few more toys on it but overall this is a great toy. My baby doesn't really like toys, she is more into exploring and making messes but this learning table has managed to keep her interest much to my amazement. I highly recommend this toy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Learning Table!, September 8, 2004

My son is ten months old and absolutely loves this toy. He was pulling up on all of our furniture when he was 8-9 months old, but our furniture was too high for him and he had a hard time getting back down to a sitting position. He cried a lot, thinking he was "stuck" once he stood up using the sofa or end table. He wasn't fond of falling down to the ground at all. This little table is lower and taught him how to sit down gently without having to crash to the ground. Now he would rather pull on his toy rather than the living room sofa (although he still does that, too!) and the activities on the table keep him busy several times a day. I've noticed him dancing to the music, too. There is a lot for him to explore on this table and he has gotten a lot of use out of it. This is a wonderful transitional toy for babies learning to stand and walk. I know it has really helped my son.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute Table, December 5, 2004

This review is from: Fisher Price - Laugh & Learn Learning Table (Toy)
I purchased this toy for my daughter's first birthday/christmas and read the reviews of the alphabet song getting stuck on "P". I had the same problem until I turned the table over and pulled the tab that was for use as a demo. Once you take the tab out, it plays the entire alphabet song. I like this table much better than the leapfrog table. My four year old son agrees, too. The leapfrog table to me is kind of annoying with the lady's voice. The Laugh & Learn table is more cheerful and cutesy. It teaches ABCs, numbers, colors, manners, etc. I also have the learning home for her, too. I know her big brother will be showing her how to play with all these items.

We bought the Laugh and Learn Learning Table for our daughter when she was only 7 months old, just as she was standing by herself. She is now a year old and still plays with it. At first, we thought it was a little too early for her to play with and she might lose interest in it fast (like most babies do), but five months and still counting. She loves both the musical and educational versions. A great investment at any age.

Yeah, EXACTLY the same on the Learning Puppy that our son has. And since he has all those songs on the learning puppy (which you can get for $10-$15 by the way) WHY do they need to have the exact same ones on the table??

He's played with the LEAPFROG table at a friend's house, and he likes it SOOO much better. If I could do it over, I would TOTALLY spring the extra $10, and get the LeapFrog table. MUCH more entertaining.

But after spending $30 on this, I'm not going to spring another $40 on another table, lol. I wish I could, though! The LeapFrog one is SOO much better - and SOO worth the extra money.

If you're considering getting a learning table (and you don't want and can't afford 2 like the previous reviewer) the pass this one up and get the LeapFrog.

My baby loves the activities on the table top. Unfortunately, mt child is a big boy! At 8 months he is 30" and the table is too short. He is forced to hunch over it, and it isn't promoting standing, because he can't stand up straight while hanging on to it! The LeapStart Learning table is at least 2 inches taller, and the right size for my child. So if you have a big baby, be aware that this table might be too short!
