Fisher Price Laugh and Learn 2-in-1 Learning Kitchen

We bought our daughter the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Home when she was about 10 months old and since she still plays with it at 19 months (we definitely got our $[...] worth out of it :-), we thought we couldn't go wrong buying the Laugh & Learn Kitchen as a companion toy. Suffice it to say that we just wasted $[...]. The Kitchen is less challenging (the "living room" side basically does nothing), less interesting (there are fewer songs and commentary as the activities are being engaged) and not as well made as the Home (the refrigerator door doesn't close, the sink faucet feels like it's going to come off in the very near future). Even the woman's voice that talks and sings along with each activity speaks slower than in the Home version. If you're deciding between the two, definitely go for the Home - it's fantastic; if you're thinking about this as an additional FP Laugh & Learn toy (because some of them really are great), save your money and go for the Laugh & Learn Piggy Bank $[...] instead.

I purchased this product from Toys R Us for $65. The next day, I saw it at Target for $60.
Overall, my 10 month old baby really likes to play with this toy, and I am pretty satisfied with it.
When the refrigerator door opens, the toy makes an opening sound. When it closes, the toy makes a closing sound. The sound comes from the stove area, though, so my baby was a little confused.
The sink faucet makes a noise when the handle is lifted up and pushed down. The stove also makes a noise when you put the pan on top of the stove. The button that causes the stove to makes a noise is positioned near the edge of the stove, so my baby often accidentally presses the button when she is pulling up. At first, I thought her fingers were sizzling.
There are two balls for the baby to drop into the sink. The balls are a good size. My baby can easily get her hand around one.
There are three different music modes: a learning mode, music mode, and play mode. And there are two volume settings. The songs are happy and teach opposites, ABC, counting and encourage the baby to crawl through the arch and open the refrigerator.
My baby actually knew how to use the light switches in our house before she got this toy. She has not shown any interest in the over-sized light switch in the kitchen. I am not sure she has made the connection between the smaller light switches on the wall in our house and this toy one. I can see how the toy light switch can be useful for teaching, though.
Often, my baby grabs onto the handle at the top of the arch for support to help her stand. The kitchen has not flipped over, though.
There is not that much for babies to do on the house side of this toy. My baby spends the great majority of her time on the kitchen side.

Finally, this toy took about 30 minutes to assemble. There were many screws that needed to be screwed in.

We're very happy with this kitchen. It has so many options, songs and activities. Both of my kids (almost a 3 yo + 8 months baby) love it. I would say, it's very entertaining for kids starting from 6 months but no more than 3 years old. It's not very high but it's clear from the picture. My 3 yo needs to band on her knees to play with it.
Don't expect the fridge to be deep, it has veggies pictures inside.
Also, it's pretty wide but easy to carry from one place to another one.
It's also easy to mount.
Summary: With all the functionalities that it embeds, it seems to me as a very good deal, very entertaining and ideal for babies 6 months up to 3 years old.

I saw this toy when researching toys to get my daughter for her first birthday. Immediately, I know it would be perfect. She loves to play in the kitchen, especially with the refigerator. We put it together (which was suprisingly easy) and she fell in love! At first I was nervous that her pulling herself up on it would cause the toy to tip over, but it never did. It does a variety of fun things, a light switch that turns on and off, a faucet that makes noise, a ball dropper, a toaster that pops and plays music, a stove door that opens, the refigerator door opens and has a shape sorter, a page book that flips and a radio that plays music. This toy does so much that it keeps her entertained for a long time. We "cook" food and then wash the dishes, but it's also something that she is content playing with on her own. If you're thinking about it, it really is a great toy!

Over all i am pretty happy with this kitchen! My daughter got it for Christmas and played with it alot. She loves the sink and opening the fridge. We don't use the "living room" side all that often.. The kitchen is just much more fun. The sounds and lights make it fun for her. The only bad thing is the batteries seem to run out kinda quickly and they are a pain to change, but it is worth it=)I also wish it was a little taller, as my daughter is tall and it seems small compared to other toys that are similar

My kids received this kitchen as a birthday present. My two year old loves it because she can tinker around the kitchen and turn the water on and off (and not get fussed at). My one year old loves it because she can crawl under the arch and it says things and it lights up. It's large enough for two or three kids to play with at a time. It encourages education such as ABC's and on/off, open/close, etc. It also encourages imagination such as pretend cooking and cleaning. I wish the opposing side had more activities (especially for the price). Also, the sound could stand to be louder (hard to believe as most other toys they have blast us out the room).

If you have the space in your home, this is a great toy that will keep your child occupied for quite a while; it has so many fun features, and you can select sounds, music, or words so that you can keep mixing it up and ward off boredom. My 11-month-old enjoys this toy immensely, and is learning how to turn things on and off and what "open" and "closed" mean.

Since the longevity of a toy is a big concern for parents when buying an expensive one, I thought I'd come back and add that my daughter is now 2 years old and still plays with it! Now she's much more advanced, obviously, so she can name the foods in the fridge and "feeds" her stuffed animals by bringing them to the kitchen and sticking their faces in the fridge, haha! She will sometimes put her small animals in the sink to bathe them or, sadly, also stick them in the oven. ;) Anyway, I'll say it again: This is a great toy. P.S. We haven't had to change the batteries once yet. I don't understand how that's possible, but it's the truth!

We got this for my daughter when she was 10 months old. My favorite aspect is that she has been entertained while learning cause & effect. It also helped her transition from crawling to standing to walking.

She is now an active 15 month old and still plays with it. She recently walked up to the arch and started shaking the toy. Before we could stop her, the entire kitchen toppled onto her, with the arch crushing her nose hard enough that we though an ER visit might be necessary. She was fine after a lot of cuddle time, although I am now concerned about the overall safety of the product.

We bought this as a Christmas present for our daughter when she was 10 months old. It is a great quality and steady enough for her to pull up on without it tipping over. She was barely walking on her own, she would often 'cruise' around it while playing.

I agree that Fisher Price could have added a few more features. It was perfect, however, for her age. She really liked putting the balls in the sink and watching them come out the bottom. She loved opening and closing the refrigerator. It lights up and sings when you crawl through it- so she really enjoyed doing that as well. Our miniature schnauzer even loves to do that!!!

She is 2 now. She played with this until this past Christmas when we bought her a larger kitchen set. We have it stored in another part of the house- but she still enjoys playing with it when she finds it.

I would recommend this for babies and toddlers.

I have been looking for something to encourage pulling up for my 10 month old. I was surprised to see such a limited selection of toys for this stage since it seems like such a BIG stage! Fisher price seems to be the only toy company to make anything for little ones to pull up to. After looking and comparing we decided on the laugh n learn kitchen. So far my 10 month old really enjoys it. She will pull up to her knees to the stove but as far as pulling to her feet the kitchen is not tall enough for her to be able to do that. It makes a lot of cute kitchen sounds, including running water, refrigerator door opening, and toaster sounds. Real working light comes on when you crawl through the opening of when switching it on with the switch. Comes with a pot and shapes. Its a cute first kitchen and a good transition to the bigger play kitchens.
