4.0 out of 5 stars nice crib toy
We got the Kick & Play Piano as a shower gift and I wasn't all that impressed with it in the beginning - it looked kind of cheap and gaudy compared to other crib toys. So, we put it aside and didn't think much about it for the first few months. Recently, our 4 month old is just starting to outgrow his mobile. 3.0 out of 5 stars cute but not that great
We bought this toy for our 6 month old who loves to "kick" just about anything around her. The toy is easy for the child to kick, has cute sounds that are activated when kicked, BUT, the child wants to see what he or she is kicking. They have to strain their necks to see what they are kicking. After a couple of uses, our daughter became frustrated because she had to...

I was looking for something a little more interactive that will entertain him in his crib so I decided to try this toy. We attached it to the crib and it was a big hit!

There are 3 different settings:
1 - continuous music (several different tunes that play over and over regardless of whether any keys are pressed)
2 - pressing a key to access the corresponding animal sound, counting, or song
3 - works like an actual keyboard - each Key is a different note.

this has really held my son's attention. Not sure if he associates the cause and effect of his kicking the keys, but at least the activity is somewhat interactive and lasts longer than the mobile without my having to constantly rewind it.

I really like this piano. My son didn't play much with it on the floor, so I put it in his crib. Now he loves it!! He really enjoys kicking and hearing the sounds it makes. I also like that the cover can be taken off and washed in the washing machine. It also doesn't eat batteries like some other Fisher Price items do. Great!!

We bought this toy for our 6 month old who loves to "kick" just about anything around her. The toy is easy for the child to kick, has cute sounds that are activated when kicked, BUT, the child wants to see what he or she is kicking. They have to strain their necks to see what they are kicking. After a couple of uses, our daughter became frustrated because she had to lift her head to see the toy light up. Everytime we tied the toy higher on the bars in the crib, it kept on slipping down after it was kicked. It's a cute concept, but has its flaws.

My son just loves this toy! Seeing pictures of it online it didn't seem like much but I decided to have faith in the other reviews and buy it. I am so glad I did! My son is 12 weeks now and has had this toy for a little over a week. His attention is held longer by this toy than any other. He enjoys watching the lights and listening to the music when I set it to continuous play, but LOVES to kick the keys and listen to what he made happen! I like the songs it sings and the animal sounds are cute as well. I like to act out the animals for him when the piano says the animal name and also sing along with the songs.

The piano says letters A-E, animal names for each of the keys, animal sounds, numbers 1-5 with corresponding tones, and songs. So not only does my little one have fun with it, he will be learning as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sleep-saver!, September 3, 2004

I have two of these pianos for my now 1 year old daughter. I bought them when she was very young, and put one in her crib at my house, and one in the crib at her granparent's house which she frequently visits. This piano has saved me hours of sleep! I just turn it on if she wakes up during the night and it sings her back to sleep. It helped her learn how to fall asleep in her crib by herself, and has learning functions for when my baby is older. I'm going to buy one for my aunt who is currently expecting, and I hope she gets as much use out of it as I have!

5.0 out of 5 stars Second purchase for my home, September 30, 2005
This review is from: Link-a-doos Kick & Play Piano (Toy)
My dad bought this for my daughter when she was born. She loved it! She played with it the entire time she was in her crib, and even afterwards would carry it to a table and play it by hand then. Eventually she stopped showing interest and I passed it to a friend of mine and her son loved it just as much. Then, I got pregnant with my son and my dad bought another one. ANOTHER BIG HIT! Jacob loves the lights, music and we are noticing he does realize when he kicks it makes music. At night the lights and music soothe him to sleep. I also babysit and the little girl I babysit loves it too. So - I've bought one for her as a gift. Even if I had to buy this and it wasn't given as a gift, I would have purchased it and not complained about the re-purchase.

Both my kids had this in their crib-you could always tell when they were awake in the morning-instantly they would play with it. Very adorable-recommended highly!

2.0 out of 5 stars nothing special, May 13, 2005

My daughter is a year old now, and has had this toy in her crib basically from the beginning. She's never really shown much interest in it at all, which is weird, because she loves most other toys that have music and lights and buttons to push. But this she barely plays with, even when I try to get her interested in it.

I think part of the problem might be that the keys are tough for a baby to distinguish (the whole thing just looks like one big piece of cloth), so it's hard for her to tell where she's supposed to push, or even that her pushing causes the sound and lights. Actually, now that she's old enough to understand the concept of a "button," she keeps trying to push on the lights themselves, because they look more like buttons than the keys do.

Also, the music's a little annoying. If you get this as a gift, it might be worth keeping, but I wouldn't run out and buy one.

For the little money spent on this item, it is still entertaining both children. Right now we have it on our newborn's crib, which she enjoys watching the lights and listening to the music. This makes diaper and clothing changing easier. My 3 year old still loves to play with it, she loves to "compose" her own songs, sing to the songs that it plays and make the animal speak! I have been very pleased with this toy and plan on buying it for my best friend who is expecting!
