3.0 out of 5 stars Experienced mom says: Slow speed, unsafe sides

The swing seat is saggy like a bouncer seat, which my son didn't prefer. My son's head falls out the side of the seat and hung between the leg bars. The mobile toy never comes out after it is installed. It is a cute design, and the rubber grippers on the legs are the best I've seen on any baby product, so the swing doesnt move around once placed somewhere.

I love this swing. My friend let me borrow her link a doo swing and my daughter loved it. She liked to bat at the toys and look at herself in the mirror. The music was a plus as well. It lulled her to sleep while we were at my friends house. I also like that it is portable and has an open top like the jack and jill version.(That one doesn't have music though) The motor on this swing works great. I put it on the third setting and it swung her just fine. My daughter was almost 18 1/2 lbs at the time. I have also tried the deluxe version but I hated the bar that went across the top. My husband bumped our daughters head on that a few times. The link a doo is a good portable swing to take from room to room or house to house.(so is the jack and jill version)I am going to buy this for my friends when they have children.

3.0 out of 5 stars A hit in our house...but could use more power, June 3, 2005

I'm always on the lookout for baby gear that will fill a need -- without filling my apartment with clutter. The Linkadoos Take Along Swing fit the bill. I bought this swing when my daughter was one month old. We both enjoyed the swing. She loved the motion, the toybar and the music. And I loved that it freed up my hands to get things done around the house.

When it's not in use, the swing folds impressively flat. I'd just lean it up against a wall to keep it out of the way or slip in the closet when company came over.

But it could have used more power. The lowest setting is basically useless, and the second setting was pretty wimpy too. We stuck to the upper three speeds, though, and it worked well. As my daughter got a little bigger, around 4 or 5 months, she would try to sit up in the seat, which would throw off the swinging motion, and it would come to a standstill. If she leaned back and I gave it a couple pushes to get it back in sync, it would start up again. But eventually I got tired of doing that, so we used it less and less until I put it away around 6 months.

One note about the size: I saved the box to store it in for baby #2, but it won't fit back in. Turns out you cannot remove the toy bar once you attach it. Not a HUGE deal as the assembled swing folded up is only a few inches taller and a couple inches wider than the box -- so you're not losing a ton of closet space. But don't even bother saving the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the swing/ some common sense advice for parents, April 16, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Link-a-doos Open-Top Take-Along Swing (Baby Product)
While I was reading reviews for baby products(portable swings & bouncers) mostly I noticed that a lot of people (first time parents mostly) expect these products to last the babies whole first year. They are not. They are supposed to last until your baby is sitting up unassisted.(About 6 months old) At that point they start moving around a lot and can easily fall out of the swing or bouncer and hurt themselves. So please read all the safety warnings and age specifications that are on these products which are usually found on the back of the seat. Never ever leave your baby unattended in these products it only takes a few seconds for an accident to happen so protect your little darlings. They grow up so fast. As for the swing itself I think it is great. My daughter was about 17 lbs. at 4 month and the swing worked great. Its nice and portable and easy to close unlike the deluxe model which is a pain to close. Its also easy to get your baby in and out of this swing because it is open top. Again unlike the deluxe version which has a bar accross the top. I liked the music on this one I didn't find it annoying at all. It lulled my baby to sleep. If you don't like the music you can get the open top Jack and jill version which has no music and also works great.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's nearly perfect!, January 22, 2004

I bought this for soothing my little baby who loves to swing...
I hesitated between this one and Aquarium take along but Aquarium is 10 bucks more expensive than this and I hate that bar in Aquarium take along.
It has 5 songs , 5 speed ,easy to take baby in and out , mirror and link-a- doos toys and looks cute too.
One thing I don't like is that seat is little bit upright, but my baby likes this swing and take a nap in this only.(what a relief~)
Overall, I satisfied my decision.. :)

I got this travel swing for a shower gift along with a full-size swing. I didn't know if I would need both, but I put both together anyway. I actually started using the travel swing a couple days after I got home from the hospital. The full-size swing just seemed too big for my 7lb. newborn. The travel swing is so much closer to the ground- it made me feel more secure. I have been very pleased with this swing. I love the easy mobility and actually move it throughout my house. (I love that I can blow dry my hair with my baby rocking in the swing right next to me!) The lack of head support wasn't really a problem. For the first few weeks I used a head support from Boppy called Noggin Nest- it worked just fine. Sure the music may be a bit annoying after awhile, but what isn't? You can easily switch the music off and keep the swing going. As my 5 week old gets older, if he needs more to interest him than the mirror and toys that are provided, I can easily link new toys to the links on the sides of the swing for him to look at or play with. There aren't many things that will hold your newborn's interest for the first month. But this swing definitely held my son's interest and soothed him from the very start.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed Mother, February 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Link-a-doos Open-Top Take-Along Swing (Baby Product)
I purchased this swing for my third child, who is 1 month old. I liked the design and toys of the swing. The different speeds and music is what made me decide to buy this swing. It was very easy to put together and to fold up. The bad thing about this swing is that there is no back or head support. My baby's head goes to side and seems to be uncomfortable. I'm actually going to return it for a full size swing.

5.0 out of 5 stars life saver!!!, May 19, 2005

This swing is the greatest!! My daughter has loved it since the day we brought it home, she was one month old. It keeps her entertained and puts her to sleep also. She loves looking at herself in the mirror and the little animals that come with it are great for little hands. I got a bouncer as a gift and she hated it, this is diffently worth it and I will buy it for all my friends having babies. what is great too is that it folds so I can take it to my parents house when we visit and when she gets cranky I just put her in it and she's happy. I love it and totally recomend it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Swing..., July 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Link-a-doos Open-Top Take-Along Swing (Baby Product)
I have bought several different swings, but now I think a found a winner! My son is 3 months old, and weighs 16 pounds. This is first swing that my son has been able to just swing and play and not get fussy. This swing is great because it has the link-a-doo attachments. There is a place to put toys on both sides (my son loves that!) The flower mirror is very cute. My son loves to look at it as he swings. The link-a-doo feature is great because you can switch the toys around to keep them entertained.
The only problem I have with the swing is the back support, they could have put a little more padding in it. The swing has 5 speeds, but even on the higgest speed it doesn't swing very fast.
But, my son doesn't seem to mind!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice swing, but..., June 17, 2004
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Link-a-doos Open-Top Take-Along Swing (Baby Product)
I bought this swing for my son since we were traveling a bit and visiting family and friends. The size is great, and it travels well. My son really enjoys the linkadoos toys and it entertains him nicely. The only problem I have with this swing is the back support on the seat. As others have mentioned it's not really a supportive seat - for head or back. Although he hasn't fussed or "complained" he just doesn't look comfortable in the seat. His body sags into the seat. But I really liked the swing and the option of adding toys to it so I tough of a quick fix. We just put a piece of very thin board (like a really strong/stiff cardboard) in the back of the seat under the cushion. Now his back is straight and we just put one of those head support cushions in it for him. I really like the feature of adding the linkadoos toys and all in all it is a very nice swing for the price. I'm glad we bought it.
