My 4yr old had gotten this for her birthday. You can program up to 20 different paths that rocket can do in concession, by going left, right, zig zag, figure 8, straight, just by pushing the large buttons several times. You need a lot of floor space for this, as it it is traveling all over the floor. It will stop the commands if it runs into something or if picked up.
You can take off the wheels, and put dune buggy wheels on, also the helicopter piece on the top comes up to put it into rocket mode. My daughter has played with this a lot. For an adult the noise level on it is kind of loud, and can get a bit annoying. The only feature my daughter keeps asking for on it, is when is it going to fly in the air? Overall it has been one of her favorites, and it is pretty durable.

My three year old received this FANTASTIC rocket for his third birthday and cannot be parted from it. His very own talking LE rocket. To work optimally, the rocket requires alot of uncarpeted floor space since it can be programmed for up to 20 different routes. However, my son intently plays with it on carpet, where it travels a bit more slowly, and in cramped spaces, and seems to enjoy when the rocket gets stuck. He adores the Super fast turbo booster attachment, but that has a tendency to fall off. He also likes to carry it by the turbo booster. This toy is fairly durable as it has fallen down many stairs and navigated outdoor patio tiles and garden bushes. The toy aids children in learning directions and planning. I make a simple runway path with my son, then we program the rocket to navigate. Sometimes, the volume seems a little loud and there is no adjustment. As a quick fix, I usually put clear packing tape over the speaker and voila.
Bottom line: If you child loves the Little Einstein's even a little, this rocket will be their best friend and provide hours of entertainment. And for under $[...], that's deal. Pat. Pat. Pat. Pat. 5-4-3-2-1 Blast off! UPDATE AFTER TWO MONTHS: Durability-wise this toy has taken a huge beating and it still works. One of my son's choice play scenarios is to send rocket to the edge of the steps so it crashes down six or seven carpets stairs. As such, the moon rover wheels don't all stay on; but isn't that to be expected? He still adores this toy. Even when the batteries start to go and the buttons get hard to push, this rocket is a best loved toy in my son's book.

I bought this toy for my son on his 3 year old birthday. He loves it! My only complaint is that there are 3 different attachments to put on top of rocket to make it a 'blast off rocket,' a 'moon rover', and a 'chopper rocket'. The only attachment my son cares about is the larger one that spins & lights up- that attachment is the one that is shown in the box. The problem is that it has never stayed on. I think the piece is a little heavy and none of the pieces attach very well to begin with. Despite this, my son sleeps, eats, and plays with this toy 24-7. It has fallen down stairs, been chased by my 4 other kids, and just downright been abused and it is still going strong! But like I said- attachment NEVER stayed on. That is my only complaint..

This was the big gift for each of my twin boys on their third birthday. The LOVE them. However, they are also very frustrated by the fact that things keep falling off the rocket. The character of Leo comes with the set and he is supposed to drive Rocket. He falls off constantly. Short of super-gluing him on (and we're thinking about it) there is no way to keep him in his seat. It drives our sons nuts. Also, all the things that go on top - the Super Fast, helicopter and antenna attachments - come off very easily, so they fall off constantly while our sons are playing with them. We've also noticed that some of the paint is already wearing off the nose of Rocket and we've only had them for six days. Not a good sign.
The best thing about this toy is the program feature. They can program Rocket to do up to 20 things and then push the button and watch him go. They love that and it works perfectly. Now if Rocket just wouldn't fall apart while he's running around.

My son saw the commercial for this Rocket near Christmas time. He has always been a big LE fan, and he loved that this Rocket could be programmed. It was one of two things he asked Santa for. Come Christmas morning, it was a big hit! It can be programmed to go in several different directions, including a figure 8. It even works on carpet! The Rocket comes with Leo, but there are 2 spaces for characters. We purchased the LE characters last year and they fit in the Rocket! What a bonus surprise. My son is a big fan!

Bought this for my son for Christmas. He was a BIG Little Einstein's fan! Overall, he really liked the toy. My complaints are it's hard to make Leo sit in the driver's seat....he's always falling out. Also, my son is almost 5 now, and still can't change the parts out himself. I always have to change the pieces for him.

Ordered this for my 6 year old who loves Rocket and Little Einsteins. There aren't many choices out there for Rocket toys, so I figured we'd try this since the price was right.
Unit is a good size, and for a kid like mine who loves to hold "wings" and pretend to fly, Rocket's engines are a very solid place for grabbing. They come separate, and snap into place, but unlike the rest of the accessories, these are one time snap in only, very secure, and don't come back out. So there's no concern with him using these to life this toy. The reason I did four stars is that the pieces aren't secured very well, and for younger kids who don't pay attention to how they pull out the wheels, they could break something. The wheels and tracks snap in from below, so they are inserted vertically from below, not from the sides. And most kids want to pull the wheels out sideways since that's a more logical way for them to pull them off. And since they aren't the hardiest pieces of plastic in the first place (since the wheels and tracks are not weight bearing, the permanent wheels on the bottom of the toy bear the weight) it would not be too difficult for a frustrated kid to yank too hard and snap the plastic piece. The parts are "keyed" so the toy knows which part you installed, and reacts appropriately by saying how it's ready for a mission based on what the propulsion method is. Sounds also change accordingly. Volume is not selectable, but for parents like myself, who go nuts with the LOUD ones, this is very easy on the ears. Not too loud and annoying for the people not playing with it. It was certainly a big hit with my son, who loved it instantly and had fun playing with it whenever the opportunity arises. So as long as you keep an eye on the parts removal when being done by a child, and make sure they understand how to pull it without putting the posts in danger, should provide plenty of playtime for the little ones. |
