5.0 out of 5 stars A big hit in our house
I bought this playset for my 2-yr-old because he loves construction, and he is thrilled with it. He started narrating and acting out "stories" with it as soon as we got it out of the box. It has a nice range of activities without being very big. I was very happy to discover an "on/off" for the sounds, as my son prefers to make his own most of the time. We will remove...

3.0 out of 5 stars Why did they change the people?
I was so excited when I bought this playset for my 20-month old son at Christmas. It seemed so interesting and fun. For the most part it was. The sounds and the variety of ways to move the boulders is great. My only pet peeve is that Fisher Price changed the shape of the Little People. Now they are more anatomically accurate. Their legs can bend to sit and they can swivel...

We will remove the batteries later, but were able to give him the toy straight from the box which was nice.

The "people" are not like the ones sold in other Little People sets; they are jointed so they can sit or stand and have real feet, and each has a hand that can hold the shovel that came with the set. I actually rather like them. My son prefers the dump truck.

The only negative I see in the toy is that the "dynamite" blaster has to be pushed down very sharply to actually tip the boulder off and my son has trouble with this right now (I expect him to figure it out shortly though).

Overall I am very pleased with this toy right now.

I brought this toy for my 2 1/2 year old. This was our first little people purchase. I am very pleased with it. No small parts to get lost, theres also no parts that will get broken. He has a 5 year old sister that plays with all of his toys and is very rough on them. I dont see any problem with this breaking any time soon. My son was able to figure out how all hte features worked himself. So all in all a good purchase. We will be buying other little people sets.

My 2 year old loves this toy. Lot's of things for him to explore. The boulders can be 'blown up' with dynamite, scooped with the shovel or carried away with the dump truck. There is even a compartment to store the boulders till next time. With two moveable figures it is great for imaginary play. Thumbs up to Fisher Price. Just don't pay too much! Suggested retail is around $20 bucks!

Their legs can bend to sit and they can swivel at the waist. However, the figures' heads are so heavy, the figures are constantly toppling over. If you put one in the vehicle provided and push it, the figure falls out. If you place one as the operator of the crane, make sure to secure his hand to one of the handles or else he topples all over the place. I spend more time picking up the figures than the boulders! At least the previous version of the figures could be secured easily in their vehicles. My son doesn't even pay attention to the figures. The boulders and the crane suffice as the main attractions. If it weren't for the people, I would have rated this toy 4 stars.

Our 1 yr old and 3 yr old both enjoy playing with this toy. It's sturdy and has lots of parts to keep them occupied. None of the parts appear small enough for the baby to choke on. We're pretty happy with it.

My son is 3 and a half, and he absolutely loves this toy. I'm amazed at how many times he plays with it every day and doesn't get tired of it. I also have 21 month-old twin boys who love it and fight over it all of the time. They love the little truck that comes with it, and they like to throw the boulders across the room and watch them bounce (they're really more like ping-pong balls). This toy is also extremely durable. The twins have thrown it out of their cribs at least 50 times, and nothing has broken or been damaged.

My 2-1/2 year old son received this for Christmas. This set was, by far, his favorite!! He loves driving the truck around and putting the boulder in the various places. The people are big and easy for him to put in the truck or on the machine. This is a GREAT toy!!

First of all, I love Little People! So when I found this at such a deal I couldn't refuse. My two sons (2 & 4 yrs) haven't had much of a chance to play with this yet, as we just got it for Christmas...but their Dad even tried it out...and so did I! It has great, realistic noises and does lots of neat things...kinda hard to explain, but trust me....it's got little doors and levers, etc...it's a cool toy. I would recommend it!

My son got this for Christmas and he loves it. We only paid 23 bucks for it so I think this 40 dollar price is a bit over the top. The two figures, dump truck, rocks, and shovel make this a very fun toy to play with. The real life sounds also make for a more engaging toy. My 2.5 year old son loves to play with the 'digger' toy as he calls it. Another high quality toy from the Little People toys!!

4.0 out of 5 stars My 2.5 year old is enjoying this., January 20, 2008

My 2.5 year old is really enjoying this toy. He likes all of the different ways to dump the boulders into the little truck that comes with it or even with other toy trucks that he has. I wouldn't call this an educational toy as such, but I can tell that he is thinking/learning with the different ways to roll the boulder through the different chutes and have it get into the truck.

It is worth noting that these little people are a little different than the other ones that he has. These bend and swivel at the waist. Plus they can hold stuff like the shovel that comes with this toy. That means that they won't lock into more traditional little people toys. My son got the little people fire truck at the same time. It has one figure with it that also bends and swivels. So, he likes to combine this toy and his fire truck. It has worked out fine for us, but I wanted to point out that there are different types of figures.
