Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

With its delightful activities and adorable graphics, this makes a very nice program for young preschoolers. It's based on Fisher-Price's popular Little People toy line and features five multilevel activities. Children can help the Little People characters build and paint airplanes, fly through mazes in the clouds and sort luggage by color and shape. They use their matching and listening skills to select planes for takeoff and practice their number recognition by matching traveling pets to their carriers. The activities are charming, particularly the pet activity. After kids match three pets to their appropriately numbered carriers, they can feed the animals and put them down for a nap. Our testers also enjoyed the plane building game and liked printing out their creations. Weaknesses of the program include repetitive instructions and overuse of praise. You can click through all this, though, which is nice. The sign-in page needs a forward arrow button--some test kids got stuck after they typed their name. These criticisms aside, the CD is quite pleasant and the nine printable pages (dot-to-dots, etc.) extend its content beyond the computer.

Amazon.com Product Description

Children ages 2 to 4 join their favorite Little People friends for a day of fun and learning at the Little People Discovery Airport. Players visit the control tower, help sort suitcases onto planes, learn about the weather, and even build and paint a new airplane! Five activities teach colors, shape and number recognition, differentiation skills, spatial relationships, and logic. The Little People characters and Pilot Paula will keep children busy for hours as they encourage imaginative thinking and curious exploration. Together they will discover an airport full of fun and wonder.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 1/2 year old son LOVES it, September 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Little People Discovery Airport (CD-ROM)
I bought this for my 2 1/2 yr. old son, who hasn't stopped playing with it. It is great. It lets him be independent. He is able to use the mouse to sort luggage or to build an airplane. Every day he will ask me to play his "Little People game". He has other games that just don't keep him interested, but this one does!! I highly recommend this!!

I have a 2 and a 4 year old and they both love this game. Both The characters, games and activities keep them busy for quite a while. They also ask to play this game over and over. We buy a lot of computer games and this is one I definitely would recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars stable, sunny software for preschoolers, February 7, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fisher-Price: Little People Discovery Airport (CD-ROM)
This software installs easily and is very stable. A main screen shows five Little People characters at work; each one leads to an activity -- sorting luggage to be loaded on the plane (three difficulty levels vary in sorting by color, shape or multiple features); putting animals in carriers (levels vary by relying on simple number recognition, counting or identifying numbers verbally); designing, building, painting and decorating an airplane; using arrow keys to navigate mazes that vary in complexity; and matching airplanes that vary by one, two or verbally-identified features.

Kids are fascinated by planes and airports, and this software keys in to those activities little ones find of interest. Happy songs, friendly characters, and cute puppies and kittens will charm your child, though the game is probably not challenging enough to hold their interest for hours of play. Our toddler enjoys playing this occasionally but gets bored after a time and puts it away for awhile before wanting to see it again. Despite a lack of overall challenge, there are a couple of very nice touches: in level 3 of the luggage sorting, the child determines which of multiple features will determine the sets; after a child has built and designed an airplane, it appears flying across the sky whenever the main screen is visited; and the child's name appears on a banner being pulled behind an airplane.

Pros: easy navigation, stability, multiple difficulty levels, printable activities, lots of positive feedback

Cons: no keyboard volume control, no written instructions, confusing sign-in, not entirely engaging, maybe a bit too much positive feedback
