I have the pink version which is the same as this product. Watch out if the sound stops! When the sound stopped on our boat, I opened the battery compartment and OMG! What I saw made me cry. The orange chemical which, as you can see, ATE AWAY AT RUBBER AND PLASTIC has been flooding into my baby's bath water and causing slight but irritating burns (I thought it was just a bad rash on her legs and tushy at the time.) F.P. has asked me to mail the boat back them and offered me a refund [...] TERRIBLE!! TERRIBLE!!! TERRIBLE!!!! If you like to see your child happy and healthy, DO NOT BUY THIS TOY (or the pink version!!)

This toy is cute and has cute sounds but it easily fills with water and sinks. My son does not play with it long becasue it sinks. I wouldn't buy this item, there are better toys out there.

This is probably the worst toy ever. It kind of floats, its kind of a boat. An empty water bottle with its lid on is a better bath toy than this. It's ugly and stupid in every way, and it even makes crappy sounds via batteries/speaker... a sick attempt to convince adults that it will entertain for a few minutes more than an actual good toy that doesn't have a speaker.

Check out the 17" Gowi boat for something that puts this to shame with beautifully playable simplicity (24+monthsIMO).

Mostly unrelated: Fisher-Price jumped the shark when they screwed with the little people.

This is an adorable set that my girls love to play with. However unlike the other reviews I NEVER thought is was a toy to go into water. My thought is that once water gets into the speaker it's not going to work any more. My girls added it to their other little people collection and PRETEND it is in water. I don't see anything on the box saying it is safe for water use. Just like the Little People Airplane doesn't really fly. I hate it when someone writes a bad review that is undeserved. Looking at the battery compartment on this toy and anyone can see it is not waterproof.
Technically it's the batteries that caused the burns and any other problems when put into water not the boat. I would say if you want to put this boat in water remove batteries first. That is just good old common sense.

This is a great bath time toy and really cute. The only thing I have learned is that the little guy that comes with it has a tiny hole in his base and that collects water that is hard to get out and quickly gets black mold in it, so we had to toss out the guy. My guess is that they should rethink the need for that hole, I am guessing it is from the production process. Otherwise, very happy!

My son got this toy from his Aunt Kait for his first birthday. Ever since then he loves playing with it. It provides hours of fun! What a great toy. He has added other little people to it to make the boat adventure full of fun!

This boat makes an okay, if unremarkable, addition to a child's Little People collection -- provided that it is kept out of the tub or pool. Sadly, this boat capsizes far too easily and is clearly not watertight. The boat is unstable at best and impossible to keep afloat under normal play.

A limited repertoire of sound effects and low volume add little to the toy's overall appeal, although it is sturdy enough for (dry) play and complements the Little People's air- and land-based vehicles.

The title is triply problematic: 1) the boat does not float well 2) it mimics a small, modern fishing vessel, not a sailboat 3) the various versions of the product name -- "Sail n' Float Boat" on the packaging and "Sail 'n Float Boat" on the enclosed documentation -- are both incorrectly punctuated, missing the second apostrophe in the shortened form of "and." (Children's toys, if not educational, should at least avoid teaching errors.)

If you are a Little People fan looking to expand your collection and do not intend for this boat to be used in the water, it is not an awful choice. If you hope for your child to play with this boat during bath time, however (as I did), look elsewhere.

This boat doesn't float. Just like the others say as soon as you touch it it sinks... within a month I was sitting in the living room and i hear "toot toot" and thought nothing of it... till i go to give my son a bath and the boat made no more sounds...

my husband went to investigate it a few days later and put new batteries in and it and it doesn't work at all... the battery compartment was fine and the batteries didn't leak like other people had said... we've had the boat only a month... so without the batteries it's still a fun toy... it just doesn't play the oh so catchy tune that fisher-price seems to have put into every single one of the their little people toys... yet they just changed the words to fit whatever vehicle/toy it was playing in...

so this toy is fun... but not exactly bath friendly like you would think.
