First, putting it together. It only took about 5 minutes to put together; that mainly consisted of pushing the barn down on to the base until each of the supports clicked and locked, and then attaching the back to the barn. The only thing I didn't like about the installation is that it required a Phillips head screwdriver to finish the installation. When you are done pushing and clicking all the parts you still have to install two screws into part of the barn to keep a major piece from falling off. Not sure why they didn't just build the part with a couple of tension grips or something, like they did with the rest of the toy, but that's my only complaint about that. (Also, when you build the barn it no longer fits into the box.)
The toy came pre-installed with batteries and it makes a lot of noises when you put pieces inside the main door or the hay chute --lots of singing. Also, when you open the white gates more noises accompany the action, which I thought was very child friendly. (The sing-song voice -which is the same voice on another Fisher Price Toy, the Cookie Jar, starts to grate on me, but I suppose I'm not the target audience for that.)
Additionally, though the plastic is somewhat thin, the overall product is very durable. It has been kicked over once or twice (by me) in my early morning stumbles, and it is none the worse for wear.
Also, I was happy that the product came with multiple play objects (a person, two horses, a sheep, a bale of hay, and an immovable chicken).Read more ›
Open battery compartment as the batteries can slip due to poor design. Maybe it was stuck on Demo?
Press the side walls of the farm in. Press silo and barn down. Everything should click and lay flush.
You may need to unscrew the back ladder.
This instantly allowed my farm to sing the daytime songs finally!
However it is a crapshoot as to what mode the barn will be in at any time. Daughter doesn't get to pick which is frustrating. On the whole, very cute but horribly designed product. Shockingly bad. Way overpriced for quality. Love the animals though!
Full instructions are included to direct the construction of this toy. It took me about 20 minutes from opening the box to having everything ready to use.
Although there are plenty of open places where little hands can reach into the barn, there are no sharp edges exposed to hurt the toddler. The silo door that opens and closes has a little hole for the child's finger, making it very easy to use. The top of the barn serves as a handle for carrying the toy. Small parts (farmer, animals, hay bale) can be stored in the silo between play times, to keep everything together neatly. Also, the words are somewhat difficult to understand.
The electronic components provide animal sounds and songs. The farmer's voice has a slightly Southern accent, which some may find slightly annoying, but the pitch of the voice is high so little children can easily sing along. The unit has an On/Off button that controls the electronics. Turning the sound off allows for greater creativity.
We had our one-year-old grandson play with this farm set, and he spent over an hour just exploring the parts and sounds included in it. Even the colorful box in which the set was shipped attracted his attention. The pieces fit nicely in a toddler's hand (and mouth) and are very invitingly colored. As advertised, the parts are not too sharp for handling and chewing upon, so exploration was safe and attention-grabbing.Read more ›

Doesn't seem quiet as well made as the ones in the 70's.Published 1 day ago by Letitia R. Winchester
I bought this for my granddaughter from her wish list. She hardly ever plays with it. It is like a movie set - no depth and the sounds do not make up for the lack of play value. Read morePublished 2 days ago by Literatus
