I searched for an appropriate doll house for my one year old daughter and this one came out the winner. She has figured out how to make all the house sounds like toilet flush, start the washer, etc. I have heard her mimic the sound her self just before she presses the particular item. The little people are great - easy for her to grasp and sturdy enough for a child who is still teething. Remembering my own "little people" house, I wanted to share the experience. This doll house exceeded my expectations. I look forward to adding to the collection.

There Are TWO Models of This Product,
This review is from: Fisher Price Little People Sweet Sounds Home (Toy)
There are 2 models of this toy-one w/"Fluffy" the cat, and the other model WITHOUT Fluffy. They look exactly the same, but do NOT get the model with Fluffy! There are only 3 household items in it that make sounds and the other model has about 8 household items that make sounds, making the other model much more fun and interactive for children. It is quite a bit misleading on the part of Fisher-Price to advertise these at the same price despite the fact that the "Fluffy" model is a much lesser product. The "Fluffy" model should be priced much lower. The non-Fluffy model is still being manufactured, but grab it while you can. I've had quite a time finding it because it's on back order at a lot of retailers.

Hours of entertainment at a very good price,

We got this for our daughter's recent first birthday, and it has already proven its worth. She enjoys pressing the objects that make noise (phone, toilet, etc.), then laughing at her accomplishments. She will also use the house as a place for playing with other toys.
The assembly required is extremely minimal - just a few screws - and while there are many stickers to put on before the house is complete, it's certainly not difficult or time-consuming. The product seems durable, at least what I've seen of it to this point. While I don't know how enjoyable this would be for an older child, I certainly think it's an excellent choice as a first dollhouse for a younger child. And with the relatively low price, it's not going to be too painful if your little one doesn't enjoy it as much as you'd like.

This is not the one being advertised,
This review is from: Fisher Price Little People Sweet Sounds Home (Toy)
The one they are advertising is not the one you will receive. The one shown has nine sounds and no fluffy the cat. The one you will receive has three sounds and includes fluffy the cat. There are two models, so it is confusing. I've ordered this twice already and each time I didn't receive the one being advertised. I don't know why they don't advertise it for what it is. The model you get sells for about $30.00. Amazon is selling that model too. Ihave no idea why they don't correct this. I've already fallen for it twice. You would think I would have learned the first time.

A superb choice for a toy to engage your little girl's imagination...or BOY! :),

I purchased this dollhouse for my son's first birthday in December. I believe it's perfectly fine, unlike many, for a little boy to play with a dollhouse, especially while under 5 years of age because they learn and create from what they see every day in their own homes. (i.e. If the "Daddy" is always in front of the computer, maybe he needs more chores to do, right? ;)
At first he did not play with the dollhouse as much as I had hoped. Maybe this was partly my fault because I wasn't really actively trying to play with the dollhouse along with him for more than a few moments at a time. Since our plastic "Daddy" sits in the computer chair, guess who's doing all the work in reality? All the same, he was still playing with it occasionally and having fun putting the baby in and out of the crib, or having Mommy push baby in the stroller. Yesterday I sat down with him (now 15 months) and we got out a few of his Little People playsets. He owns many as I got Little People crazed, but I brought out the Sweet Sounds Home and the Little People Playground with Neighborhood Vehicles (icecream truck and a schoolbus). As an adult, I found myself having trouble trying to use my imagination. It seems as if one day you wake up and you just can't conjure up that great idea anymore, but I did my best. He loved it! He kept putting Plastic Mommy in various parts of the house and loved to sit Plastic Daddy on the toilet and "flush" it over and over. Hint. What you get for your dough: 2 Plastic Parents (Our Plastic Mommy is holding a bottle and Mr. Plastic Dad is holding a cell phone. Hmm...what is wrong with that? What about putting a scrub brush in Daddy's hand and just letting the mommy breastfeed so she doesn't have some huge bottle glued to her hand when she's trying to sleep or drive?) 1 Adorable baby in a basket 1 Set of table and chairs {I love this! Mommy NEVER has to cook! The food is already on the table...yeah!) 1 Bed with only two indentions on it (Co-sleeping anyone? My son probably doesn't understand why he can't put Baby In a Basket in the bed with Bottle Mommy and Cell-Talkin Daddy...there's no room...unless Daddy is sleeping in the crib--or up all night cooking breakfast. He is probably a doctor or something though because he looks rather smart with those coke glasses.) 1 Stroller (My son loves to put Plastic Female Parent in this...is this a sign that he wants to show ME who's boss? Perhaps another Baby Stewie.) 1 Walker to go in the playroom (Isn't it interesting that there is a computer room for Plastic Male Parent and a toy room for Baby In a Basket [or Daddy?], but there is the LAUNDRY ROOM for the Mommy because YOU KNOW that's who's going to be doing the clothes around THIS Sweet Sounds Home!) There are also special sounds in each room. Kitchen: We have a nice microwave DING! sound to alert Plastic Mommy that the nice dinner she made for Plastic Daddy is heated up since he was late from work. Living Room: A bright yellow telephone will ring or make the "busy" sound. Whoever could it be? Bedroom: The baby bed can be pushed down to make a nice little melody for Plastic Baby to fall asleep to...or continue crying and then Plastic Mommy would have to breastfeed and wonder why a bottle with no milk is glued to her hand. Or she would bottlefeed. Whichever is Plastic Mommy's preference at all hours of the night. If pressed again, you will hear "Momma, Momma", not "Dadda, Dadda", because Momma is who comes a runnin'! Bathroom: We've been over this. Playroom: There is what appears to be a play-mat on the floor and when you press it you will hear a nice little song or some baby babble. I'm pretty sure that is what you will hear, but Plastic Baby is usually with Plastic Mommy and she is usually in the Laundry Room. Laundry Room: The joyful sound of laundry swishin' and a swashin'! Now isn't that MUSIC! Computer Room: Plastic Mommy has never heard this sound, but it is the "Brrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuhnnn" noise to alert Plastic Person (Daddy) that the computer is on. Overall: This is a great home and will entertain your little one for hours. My son is really starting to get into it, and hopefully I can get him to put Plastic Daddy to work more. We love our Real Daddy (HONEST!) and hope that Plastic Daddy will continue to re-enact everything Real Daddy does. In time, I hope to see Plastic Mommy sit down at the computer more often so Real Mommy can sit and write more reviews for you folks.

My daughter recieved this little people house for her first birthday, I was more excited than she was at first. Where was this adorable house when I was a kid?? But a few months later she found it and started to explore all of the sounds and colors. This set comes with an adorable little family (mommy daddy and baby), table and two chairs, bed, highchair and stroller.
We paired ours with the little people van, which is a really cute addition to the "Family". Inside the house everyroom has something neat to expore. The baby's room has a bed that makes sounds and a moving mobile. The kitchen has a refridgerater that opens and has a picture of food inside. I really like that when you read a little people book or watch a video you will see the pink van and house. My kids love seeing their toys in the book! Katie who is now almost a year and a half can drag her house out and open the back up to play. She will sit there as long as her attention span will allow and then she will put the pieces inside and close it up! She doesn't play with it for long periods of time, but as she gets older I'm sure she'll play with it longer (If not I will) It really is a great house for your little one.

Since I have built several dollhouses and collected miniatures for at least 10 years, I naturally gravitated towards the Little People collection - and of course this house was the first we bought! It must be genetic, because my daughter (18 months) really loves it. She carries the people all over the place (she stole a plastic cup from me to carry them in!) and knows how to push all the buttons. She also figured out how to open and close it very quickly. It's really nice quality, and the only thing you may spend some tedious time with is placing all those little decals. We already got the pink van and the red car, and look forward to getting more of the Little People world!

Great little house for your toddler,

Bought this for our 21 mos old daughter as she adores her Little People farm and zoo. House is adorable, she loves playing with it and it keeps her attention for a long time. She loves to move the mommy and daddy and baby around to the rooms and feed them dinner and adores the phone sound (who's calling?). Only confusing part for us is she often yells "Mommy" and "Daddy" but is looking for/talking about the toys and not calling for us (and she wonders why we are bothering her while she is playing)!
My complaints: definitely too girly looking (less pink would be nice) and all of the sounds are WAY too loud (we place clear packing tape over the speakers to reduce the volume). Does take a while to put all those little stickers on but they do look cute. Wish there was a doorbell - that would be cute. Hate that Mommy has a bottle in her hand and the Daddy a cell phone, but baby is cute with a bear and ball. FYI - Fisher Price does make an accessory kit ($15?) you can get from their catalogue that has 3-4 other families - Asian, causcasian/blonde, African American, and Latino, plus a trellis and more fencing.

My son just turned two, and he loves Little People, so we bought him the house to add to the farm, city center, and construction site. I would agree that the rooms are small for toddler hands, but he doesn't seem to mind too much. (I prefer the bigger pieces of FP to other doll houses anyway.) I would like to see less color coding of traditional gender toys, but overall the Little People series is a great group of toys for the 1+ set.
