Product Description

From the Manufacturer

For parents who want to be active during babys naptime, this monitor gives you a long range connection with your baby that's as clear in the backyard as it is in the kitchen. With 900 MHz technology, you get a more powerful signal with excellent clarity and greater range-up to 800 feet (under permitting conditions). So you can be anywhere around the house or yard and still stay in touch with baby. Other features include sound lights that let you see and hear babys call from either side, energy saving power cord, out of range indicator light, belt clip for portability and an extra receiver for added convenience. Requires 3 AAA 1,5V batteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product So Far, April 23, 2009

This review is from: Fisher-Price Long Distance Dual Baby Monitor, 900MHz - White/Grey (Baby Product)
We recieved this monitor as a shower gift, and although this wasn't the one we had registered for, we're pleased as punch that we got this one. Both receivers pick up really clearly, sometimes uncannily so. We rarely get interference or static, and on those occasions we do, it doesn't last long and doesn't interfere with the clarity enough to be concerned or distressed, as we can still hear what's going on in the nursury. I like the light-up LED display, as you get a visual indicator of the loudness and intensity of your baby's (or in our case, babies') cries or the music playing, or whatever sound or noise is being uttered or projected. This is handy when you've got the TV up a little loud or have loud, talkative company over, or if you were hearing impaired or had hearing-impaired babysitter (Most people try to avoid scenarios like these, I'm sure, but this is your go-to monitor if you do find yourself in these situations). The four different channel settings could come in handy, too, if you have another 900MHz device, such as a phone, and don't want them to interfere.

Although I don't plan on using the feature, I could actually go out into the yard with one of the receivers and still hear the babies clearly. I have tested it for that purpose and it works quite well. I must add, though, that we live in a rather small, single story house of about 1100 sq ft, which may contribute to the excellent reception. I don't know how this or any other monitor would work in larger or multiple storied homes.

In summary, for our purposes, this is a high-quality baby monitor for a decent price, as I've read reviews for some that were twice as expensive and twice as crappy.

2.0 out of 5 stars I wish that I had followed other reviews better on this., March 25, 2009
This review is from: Fisher-Price Long Distance Dual Baby Monitor, 900MHz - White/Grey (Baby Product)
I read a few reviews on this product but skimmed over the negative ones that mentioned fuzzy reception and other dislikes. I chose this product because we had a Fisher-Price monitor before and it was great. I bought this 2 months ago and now it "chatters" whenever it is on. We tried to let the batteries run out on both receivers and unplugged the base and nothing seems to stop the chattering. Also, we use a white noise machine when my daughter is napping and you hear more of the static from that than any noises that my daughter might be making. Unfortunately, I thought that this would work so I got rid of the box and receipt and now I can't return it. I guess I have learned my lesson.

5.0 out of 5 stars great monitor! good customer service from mattel, January 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fisher-Price Long Distance Dual Baby Monitor, 900MHz - White/Grey (Baby Product)
I researched various monitors and bought this one for its long range and clarity.
I got the 2 monitor package. It is quiet, almost too sensitive (quiet noises can sound loud) and good range - works at my city neighbors house fine! It supposedly eats batteries - long range takes more power so that wouldnt surprise me - I only use it plugged in.
After about a month one of the two receivers quit working - static, then lost signal beeping. When I got around to calling mattel they had me try with a battery and then said they would send me a replacement receiver immediately, no questions!
I think the reviews of this product as horrible got defective ones - as I suspected, because I got one of each! But being one of two it wasnt a major problem.
