A Hop to it Necessity for New Parents!,
By
This review is from: Fisher-Price Hoppy Days Bouncer (Baby Product)
With a month old child in the house, I can tell you with certainty what items from my registry were worthwhile and which aren't used much, or aren't used yet. This bouncer is among the most used items we own for our son. This lightweight, easy to put together bouncer with an option for vibration and dangling toys is something I'd likely get for any mom-to-be. Especially one living in a small apartment with limited space.
The bouncer is a soft green color, with machine washable covering (important!). It's a nice neutral fit for the non-gender specific shower. The entire thing is easily put together out of the box, even for this all-thumbs parent. Once put together, it is sturdy, but lightweight enough to be easily carried from room to room or lifted up and transported. While the wider base can be a bit tricky to navigate at times, it's much smaller than a baby swing and fits an apartment lifestyle where space is at a premium. The build of the bouncer allows it to bounce when the baby moves, or when an adult gently "bounces" it. It also has a battery operated vibrator that takes one D battery. The vibrations may be a bit strong for some newborns, but our son seems to enjoy them. The dangling toys include two soft toy animals attached with velcro and a plastic frog with a handle. When this is pulled, it plays some rather tinny music which I don't care for all that much, but can overlook. The bouncer is equiped with a safety belt to keep a child in place (given that our little guy is a squirmer, this is fundamental!) And a baby can sit and watch the world around them, or sleep securely. Our son prefers to snooze in his bouncer than to sleep in his bassinet and often ends up spending the night tucked into the bouncer close to hand so that if he fusses, a quick nudge or two will send it moving and hopefully help lull him back to sleep. The dangling toys don't interest him much yet, but may in a few more weeks, for now they mostly get in the way when we're trying to get him out or put him in. But this is a minor quibble and the two soft toys can be removed, as can the whole toy arch. The vibration on the chair is the only battery operated part, and this can be ignored if batteries aren't available or run out. I highly recommend this to anyone who is debating about a swing or bouncer for their first child, and it's a great shower gift. If you're looking for other essentials, you might want to check out baby travel systems (strollers with car seats) and a good changing table pad. Happy parenting! ^_^ Shanshad

Good Bouncer,

The Fisher-Price Hoppy Days Bouncer is a good bouncer for the price. We have had this bouncer for nearly 6 months and it has held up well. Below is a list of what I like/dislike about the bouncer.
Pros: 1. Affordable 2. Easy to clean (cover is machine washable) 3. Portable & lightweight (easy to take from room to room) 4. Nice motion (vibration or rocking with your foot) Cons: 1. The toy bar is just okay (the song the frog plays gets annoying and the other toys don't do anything). 2. I wish the hard plastic at the base of the seat was at the side or covered with more padding (my son's feet hit the plastic when he bounces himself).

Vibrations too strong,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Hoppy Days Bouncer (Baby Product)
I love everything about this bouncy, except the strong vibrations. I have a newborn and bought this bouncy as an extra for the upstairs. I turned on the vibration mode, and you could see the head support pillow vibrating away. I put my baby in the seat to see how it worked and it was vibrating so much, his head was vibrating too. Will be taking it back to exchange for a differnt product. I also own the Fisher-Price Dog Days bouncy and love it, no problem with the vibrations on that one.

Better for Infant not Newborn,
By
This review is from: Fisher-Price Hoppy Days Bouncer (Baby Product)
The quality of this chair is good, no complaints. The print is cute and even though i think the toys look boring my five month old loves to play with them and proudly pulls the frog to hear the music. It allows me to take a shower while he plays! But he did not like this chair until about 3 months old. Before that it was uncomfortable, his head was bend forward in a weird way. We are definitely using it now, but i wish i would have gotten a bouncy that was more infant friendly so i could have used it longer..

Baby loves it,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fisher-Price Hoppy Days Bouncer (Baby Product)
We bought this bouncer because of the neck support and it was one of the less expensive models. My baby is about to be 3 months and she loves it. The 2nd time I put her in the seat she fell asleep before I'd even stood up. Sometimes she likes the vibrations, sometimes she doesn't. I've read a lot of reviews in which parents complain that the baby can't reach the toys to play with them. For one, it's probably a good thing lest she/he accidentally pull down the toy bar. But another complaint is that the frog only plays a short snippet of music and it can't be activated by the baby just bouncing. I solved this problem by attaching ring-a-links (not expensive) and a little barbell shaped rattle toy to the frogs pull so she can activate the song herself. She figured out how to grab the barbell and with the motions of her arm, she'll play the song. Sometimes I take the toy bar off entirely and she can just sit and look around without my having to hold her 24 hours a day. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the $50+ models, but for something she's not going to use for a long time, it's not going to break the bank.

Simple and good,

We have had this bouncer for over three months and are very pleased with it. As for the vibrations, they are strong when you first change the battery, but slow down after a few uses. My baby never minded the stronger vibrations. We have also had no problems with the loudness of the battery pack. I would recommend this product to anyone who likes more simple designs for baby products, and is not interested in "vomb" sounds or various annoying baby songs.

TRIPPING HAZARD-all Fisher-Price bouncers I've seen,
By
This review is from: Fisher-Price Hoppy Days Bouncer (Baby Product)
You'll notice in the product photo that the legs of Fisher-Price's bouncers are thin, and wider than the seat itself. My husband and I, AND our two-year-old trip over ours CONSTANTLY. You'll see the seat and think you've avoided it, and then you'll catch a foot or a toe on one of the legs. Today I tripped over ours and nearly fell to the ground with my 4-month-old in my arms---any benefit you'll get from a bouncer with these dimensions are NOT worth the constant tripping hazard!

My six-week-old daughter tends to get overtired and fussy and then has trouble settling down for a nap. She also has some mild reflux and gas issues after eating, so I've been trying to keep her more upright after her feedings. We registered for a swing, but she hasn't taken to it; she prefers bouncing. Until I got this bouncer, I would hold her on my lap and bounce on an exercise ball. Great exercise for me, but my arms and back would get tired after 30 minutes. So I got this bouncy seat on Craigslist (it looks like it's been replaced with a newer model with different patterns - Fisher-Price Bouncer, Mocha Butterfly) and she LOVES it. She naps in it at least twice a day. I put the vibrate feature on and I haven't noticed that it's as strong as other reviewers experienced, even with a new battery. I haven't used the toy bar, but the little holes that the bar fits into have been very useful - I use a long-ish stick inserted in the hole to bounce the seat for her while I'm sitting in a chair or in bed so I don't have to lean over. The seat is very responsive - I can bounce it with one finger while surfing the internet with the other hand. : It's been great to help her calm down - once she's asleep I stop bouncing it. I wish we'd gotten the seat sooner, but then again I might not have lost as much pregnancy weight as I did bouncing on that exercise ball! :)

Bought this as a gift for my sister's baby. It would be "gender neutral" but maybe somewhat more appropriate for a boy. The chair is comfy and well padded and the toy that hang above do keep the little one entertained. After 4 months of constant use, it still looks great.

This was one of the first items I put on my baby registry when I started looking a year ago. It was a no-brainer that we need a seat that could be moved around the house easily (unlike a swing). We assembled it the day we brought our daughter home from the hospital and have used it every day in the 5 months since. My daughter will sit happily in it for up to an hour at a time. When she was younger, she would fall asleep in it easily but now she is having too much fun playing to fall asleep! This bouncer lives on our second floor and is the only way I can pump and shower with a happy baby! I put her in the seat in the bathroom and she is entertained long enough for me to shower AND shave. Ask and new mom and you'll know how amazing that is.
Pros: Easy to assemble and clean. The cover comes off easily and goes right in the washer and dryer. Easy on the eyes. Even though we have a girl, we knew we'd get tired of pink. This is really cute! Fun for baby. My little one loves to bounce and watch the toys swing. She kicks her feet wildly and screeches at her "friends". I love that it is so simple. Portable. It is light weight and I can easily move it around the house with one hand while holding baby. It has gone on several over-night visits to Grandma's too. Cons: Not a great fit for the smallest babies. The first few weeks, she looks uncomfortable because she was too small for the seat. We didn't let her stay in it long because her posture looked awkward. Wide base. It was a really wide stance and I have kicked the base a few times, stumbling through her room in the dark. We never use the vibration, only because it doesn't do anything for her. I wish my chairs vibrated... Music scared her. The first few times I set the music off by pulling on the frog, she cried! It startled so badly. Now that she is older and is doing it herself she loves it. I would buy this again and again at twice the price. The fact that it is fairly inexpensive is a great bonus. I will be so sad when we can no longer use it. |
