My son had been wanting some "inline" skates for ages - he's only 4 years old. These really did the job. He shuffles about on them and is so happy to be skating. I sincerely recommend these as first-time skates. My only criticism is that there seems to only be a stage 1 and stage 3 setting. The stage 2 setting didn't seem to work but that was fine. he quickly gained the confidence to use the stage 3 setting where all the wheels move freely.

I bought these for my 2 1/2 year old son. They work well for him. I had previously purchased a pair for my daughter, so I knew what I was buying. I really like the option to lock the wheels. He wasn't skating his first time out, but he was walking which was good enough for me.

Purchased FP My First Skates for our grandson who is 5 and has only skated once before. Thought they might be too small, but fit with room to grow. He was able to put them on and take them off by himself with no problem. Once he got them on he didn't want to take them off. We started in the house-with no falls and he skated the whole neighborhood-with no falls. Great for learning balance and great exercise. Most important, he loves using them! Well worth the price.

I had these when I was a kid in the 80s, only they were bright blue and yellow. Now they are more like in-line skates, but the principal is the same. Awesome starter skates! They only go up to size 1, so be aware of that, but the three settings (walk, forward only, full movement) are really helpful. The three year-old I bought these for fought with her four year-old cousin on who got to use them, so they each scooted around the living room with one skate. I guess that means they were a hit!

Based on other comments/reviews, I thought these went to size 1. They don't. They go to a 12, which is what my son is now, so they won't last long. If you kid has smaller feet though, they would be great for introducing skating.

I bought these for both of my kids and they love them! They are easy to change between the settings and to size to the kids feet. They do a very good job of stabilizing the kids as they skate and really do stop them from rolling backward as they are just learning. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is for a few reasons: It is a little difficult to fit the children's shoes into the roller boot. My younger child is easier as his foot is smaller and I can open the to boot a lot more for his foot, but my daughter is at the end of the shoe range and it is very hard to get her shoe in and out. While they may allow for a shoe size up to 12 it is nearly impossible to get an 11 in so I would not try it. My only other comment is that the wheels are hard plastic so if you are planning on using them outside they get beat up quickly. Still, overall they are a good buy and my kids are very happy with them.
