I am both a mother of 3 (and 1 more on the way) and also work in pediatrics. I used this sleeper for my 3rd child and loved it for many reasons. She slept great in far my best sleeper, which what mom doesn't love! It is portable, which made it easy to keep by my bed at night but move around during the day. However, we were using it for both daytime and nighttime sleep and I did start to notice some flatness on the back of her head. By that point she was 4 months old and needed to be transitioning into a crib anyways; the flatness resolved once we started using the crib more. Overall I have very mixed feelings about this sleeper.

I am involved with a program that evaluates children with torticollis and plagiocephaly. I have probably seen several hundred babies with these conditions and I can count on 2 hands the number of times the families have used the rock and play sleeper. This sleeper does not cause either condition, but I feel it can exacerbate it. Torticollis is neck muscle tightness that causes a child to look in 1 direction and tilt to the other direction. I feel the tightness is typically a result of inter-utero positioning. I would say the majority of babies are born with a preference to look in 1 direction. When lying on their backs, newborns can only hold their head midline for a few seconds before turning it to 1 side. Typically, if a newborn is placed in a variety of positions (ie being held, tummy time, "worn" in an infant carrier) the neck muscles stretch out and there is no problem. But some babies have such a strong preference to look one way that torticollis develops, and then they get a flat spot on the side they prefer to look towards. This flat spot is called plagiocephaly.

I wish I had this for my daughter six years ago. Just like with my daughter, my new son (3 weeks old) doesn't like to be put down and lay flat on his back in his pack and play or crib. This sleeper is PERFECT! He's been sleeping in it for the past two days. I got the dishes done with two hands and I slept so much better last night without him in the bed (and the worry that goes with that).
The sleeper is in the reclined sitting position that you naturally hold a baby in. He doesn't even notice that I'm not holding him anymore. And while he's cozy and snug, there isn't any safety concern with breathing space.
This is easy to put together (I did it by myself) and light weight enough to tote around the house.
I love this product and recommend it to anyone with a newborn that doesn't like to be put down!!

This was probably the best money I spent on my baby so far. It was used literally everyday! My daughter used it mostly as a seat to watch mommy do chores throughout the day. It was so easy to pull from room to room and keep an eye on her while she sat or slept comfortably. She had a crib, but I noticed that she slept longer in this sleeper than in her crib. But after seeing the many reviews about babies getting hooked to sleeping in this sleeper and the hell it made when transitioning to a crib later on, I decided to only let her sleep in this overnight the first few weeks while I could use all the rest I could get. During the day, I would lay her in her crib for naps even though I knew she wouldn't sleep as long just so she can get used to sleeping on a flat surface too. It worked like a charm. I never had a problem getting her to sleep in her crib as well. This was also was the perfect travel accessory. It was soooooo much more convenient than a big, bulky playyard that took up a lot of room in the trunk when traveling out of town, not to mention at relatives house when we would visit. Just fold n go. Sleek and compact and did I mention my daughter LOVED sleeping in this chair?! 5 stars, but caution can leave a flat spot on your baby's head if they lay in this often... and they probably will once you notice how much longer your baby sleeps at a time in this compared to a crib. I noticed one starting to appear on my baby after a few weeks. Once I noticed, I bought a infant head and body support that goes in carseats to add some cushion under my baby's head.

Don't buy!! It's linked to needing a helmet!!! We loved using it but not worth the hassle of a helmet plus the $2200 expense! I have 2 friends that their baby needed a helmet too and they both used this too. I got rid of mine immeditaly after using that.

My son slept in this when he was an itty bitty! They say it's not the best and that babies should sleep laying flat unless Rhett have acid reflux which my son didn't. However between the vibrating and the rocking my exhausted baby did not stand a chance of fighting sleep. We used this during the day when he needed to nap.

People raved about this product and I bought it even after reading all the warning reviews thinking the flat head syndrome would never happen to my child. Very long story short we did minimal swing, bouncy, car seat and we did lots of tummy time. The only thing we did a lot of was this for sleeping at night. Now we are getting a helmet this week for plagiocephaly and PT for Torticollis. I am rereading some of these comments and wishing I had listened and not used this!!!
