The days that follow the glory of a child's birth are some of the best days of your life, hands down. New squish to snuggle, cute clothes, every day is going "Wow, I made that?"
And then those days are also some of the darkest days of your life. There isn't enough coffee in the world, you exist on 2 hours of sleep. For my daughter, sleeping flat on her back isn't a option, unless I wanted to wake up with her every 30 to 45 minutes. I had bought the Rock N Play for the living room, in case I needed to set her down. I soon learned that in it, she would sleep 3 hours or so. Well, it doesn't take a scientist to say it soon replaced the bassinet.
I actually SLEPT. 2-3 hours at a time mind you, but she would be up for a feed and a bum change, then back to sleep. I could actually (somewhat) function again. Before this, I understood why interrogators used sleep deprivation to break people. It was awful.
In this "bunny basket" as it became known in our household, our daughter slept for the first three months of her life. It was cozy and snuggly, and I slept near her. A sleeping baby is worth its weight in gold.
I've heard a lot of people critic this and say that transitioning to a crib is harder, because baby is going from being angled to lying flat. Ok- here's what you do when you're ready for baby to go to the big girl/boy bed.
1. Elevate the crib on one side evenly using books under the legs (about 5 1-2 inch books on either side will do)
2. Under the crib sheet, take a beach towel or two and make a U shape at the lower end of the crib (not the book end). The U should meet the bottom bars. Pull the crib sheet under the mattress, so the beach down stays put and secure.

I wanted something that our newborn could sleep in while in our room and not in his crib in the nursery. This seemed like the best option after reading some reviews. Read morePublished 10 days ago by KoalaMomma
We would be lost without this! Our little girl is colicky. For the first five weeks of her life I spent most nights walking around the house with a screaming baby in my arms. Read morePublished 10 days ago by Jeremy Houser
