My 4 yr old son received this for Christmas 2009. He has the large beginners TRIO set. My son is ahead of most kids in in building/mechanical skills dept.My father in law is an engineer and always marvels at his abilities. That being said my son is a LEGO master. TRIO are nothing like LEGOS. I cannot stress that enough. They remind me of Kinex for younger kids. TRIO not only has small blocks that only snap one way (unlike legos where there are multiple ways to stick them together) they also have these rods that take alot of patience and strength to fit the blocks together. That is the whole selling point of TRIO. That you can build little bugs, fences, and ferris wheels that look a bit more realistic than Legos. And you can.The TRIO Firefighter set is only an extension of that. It is not really a toy to play with on its own unless your child has and LOVES his TRIO beginner set. It is like when you get a special Lego set. you have to virtually use every piece in the box to make what it is your child is supposed to play with. Again if your child likes TRIO it is ok. I am just not very impressed with TRIO as a whole. My son gets more frustrated than not if he tries to play with them alone. He likes his dad to put things together. He will request "a garage" or something. With Legos he builds himself. Not a great toy to try out if your child has not played with TRIO at perhaps a friends house already.

The three stars are based on this specific set, not the trio blocks in general. Overall, I give the trio blocks a 5 star rating for their nonspecific collections. They are easy to put together and stay together for playing fun. However, this fire station set (and any other sets specifically made to make certain structures) aren't the most fun for young kids. Almost all the blocks are needed to make the firehouse and a small child will never put it together themselves. My husband put it together for him and he really wasn't that interested in the firehouse structure. Many of the pieces can't be used for other things (for example, the walls.) If even a few pieces are lost, you won't be able to make the structure... (This is one of my main complaints- and why I don't buy specific sets anymore.) But, the sets that are designed for creative play (much like nonspecific lego sets) will be a great addition to your child's toybox. The instructions for small airplanes, animals and such can be accomplished by the slightly older child. Also, if you lose a piece or two, it's no biggy. We buy a new nonspecific set for our son at any gift-giving occasion... He loves them.

We have purchased many of these Trio building block sets, and they hold attention as long or longer than Lego style blocks. My son especially enjoys the basic bin set because he has more options.

I purchased the Fisher-Price TRIO Fire Station for my 4 year old nephew last Christmas (2010), and he absolutely loves it. This is the first connectible block set he's had (no legos or anything like that before) and my sister is amazed at how his puzzle solving skills have started to show; she compared him to someone playing Tetris. Plus he loves the fire engine! I definitely recommend this product.

I'm to old to appreciate how much fun this toy is, but my grandkids sure love it. Value, packaging, delivery, etc. were all great.

Product was purchased for our grandson's birthday in May. Item arrived in record time, was in brand new condition, and $5 cheaper than Toys R Us. Another great experience with Amazon!

I personally prefer these to legos or something like that they are easier to build things with and you get to be very creative with what you can make i think these are fun for all ages you can build so many different things with just a few pieces i have bought my son 4 different sets of these and will continue to purchase more

These Trio blocks have provided countless hours for my boys. We purchased them for Christmas and they have been played with ever day since. Building the fire station is a blast as well as just letting them create with the blocks on their own. We will be purchasing more Trio sets in the future.

My 4 year old nephew adores these blocks. The blocks are easy to handle, easy to click together. Slightly tougher to get apart without the help of an adult. The set educates in way of counting and building. Highly recommended. Great product!
