My son discovered Trios shortly after Christmas due to an insert in another toy's packaging. I was intrigued, but cautious because the reviews were "mixed". We finally decided to let him give it a try with this set when it went on sale. He used his own money to order this and was so excited when it arrived yesterday! He's been playing with it non-stop ever since. My son is 5, and he was able to assemble these right away with minimal guidance from Mom and Dad. He needs a little help understanding the instructions to build the castles in the pictures, but that is a skill he will learn over time, and a valuable life skill for him to practice! He's already talking about making up his own castles without the instructions, so he'll get a chance to exercise creativity too. The castle stays together well enough for him to carry it from room to room to play with it. I've seen several reviews that say these are difficult to assemble. My 2 1/2 year old daughter was putting them together last night by herself, so I have to say, they are NOT AT ALL difficult to put together! We worked on one of the castles last night as a family, and some of them just have a picture without step-by-step instructions. It took some time to figure out how to get it assembled, but that teaches problem solving and perseverence. Unlike other building toys, this is fun to actually play with when you're done building. The only thing I was a little disappointed with in this particular set was that it only has one "guy" and one dragon. That makes it more challenging for my kids to play with it together. For now, they are using some Little People castle figures with it. We are looking forward to getting the King's Castle for our son for Christmas and probably some of the other sets as well.

My six year old loves this set! Not only is it fun to build but its fun to play with once you are done building. Its is much more durable than Lego sets so it can take the abuse of serious play. It certainly encourages imaginative play!

I purchased this toy for a Christmas gift and will not be able to determine what his reaction might be, however he received the Bat Cave last year and loved it.
He and his older brother play with it almost every day. Thought this toy would be right up his alley. Looks like real fun!

We bought this set for our grandson for Christmas. His parents bought him the Kings Castle. He is almost 5 years old. He loved both sets but he had help from his father putting them together. He will eventually be able to put them together himself, but right now at his age he needs some assistance. This set will be something that he will play with for a long time. He loves the catapult and the dragon. He is a smart boy and will have many hours of enjoyment with it.

My boys received trio's for their 5th and 6th birthday's. We have multiple sets. They build so many things with the sets: swords, cars, garages, castles, boats, guns, etc.

Our 5 year old loves to build things and TRIOs are perfect for him. He has a younger brother (16 months) who puts everything in his mouth, so Legos are too small, but TRIOs are just as good, if not better.

Little much for my 5 year old to put together by himself but a piece of cake for his older Brother (10). Solid toy that my 5 year old has already spent hours with. Will buy other Trio products in the future.

This toy was bought for a 4 year old. It was extremely hard for him to put together. His 13 year old brother who is a Lego expert tried putting it together and after 45 minutes got frustrated. It too me an hour to put it together, in the meantime the 4 year old had lost interest in the toy. This toy was a waste of money for us.
