5.0 out of 5 stars A sturdy toy for busy boys
I four year old son tends to break the put together type toys, but this one has really lasted. This toys gives a lot of sensory input as you not only hear the blocks snap together but feel it also. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
My 4 year old really wanted this toy. It was fairly easy to assemble...for a parent. A child will not be able to get the links to click; you have to push really hard. We loaded the bucket with the included ball and let it loose. The ball dropped about a foot and landed softly on the carpet. It doesn't catapult! He could use the catapult again and again, and I didn't need to worry about him hurting his siblings or the dog because although the cannonball flies, there is not enough force to hurt someone which is a big plus in our household.

We have a ton of Trio blocks at our house, and my kids really love them. They're great because they are easy for the kids to build with and it's easy for them to see progress. They hold together well, too. We have several sets and this one fits in perfectly with the rest. Great toy, educational and fun.

My grandson loves it and although it is a little challenging, he is able to figure out how to put it together and loves it.

We loaded the bucket with the included ball and let it loose. The ball dropped about a foot and landed softly on the carpet. It doesn't catapult! We tried a few more shots (with varying materials like marshmallows, marbles, etc), with similarly unpsectacular and disappointing results. Overall, a toy a child will get bored with and not be able to build on his/her own.

I was really excited to find this in a store and bought it for my son for Christmas. When I got home I carefully opened the package and put it together. It was fairly easy to assemble, though the younger kids will definitely need help. It seemed pretty sturdy for a blocks and rods type of toy. I loaded up the bucket with the included ball and took my first shot. It was like brushing an ant off your shirt. The ball launched (more like fell) about a foot and landed softly on the carpet. I tried a few more shots with equally boring and disappointing results. I didn't attempt to build it in other ways, so hopefully we will find a better way and make this lame-o thing work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall, a good buy, January 11, 2010

My almost four year old son got three of these sets for Christmas. At first I didn't understand the need, especially since we have a huge container of legos. These are much more friendly to his age and because it takes less blocks to make something (because they are big) he has a better feeling of accomplishment faster.

Overall, I would recommend them. The ball on the catapult may not go far, but do we really want kids this age throwing balls around the house with force?
