bad chair,
By Twinny Mommy "twins r us" (plymouth meeting pa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fisher-Price Papasan Seat (Baby Product)
please do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy this product. I love the swing and highly recommend the brand but this seat is a waste. I have twins and currently own 6 bouncy seats. These are by far the WORST product that I have come across from FP. I think as adults we look at it and think "Hmmmm fluffy and comfy -- if I was a baby thats where I would want to be". There are two main issues with this chair
1. most babies (7 of the 8 I know) grow out of this in three months 2. the vibration turns off after 15 minutes and most babies wake up buy the Sensory Selections bouncer by FP. I am still using it 6 months later. Everyone that bought the papasan chair that I know is upset at the high cost and low functionality. Two other mommys subsequently bought the Sensory selections one Try to find a used one if you really think that it is great. The whole thing is washable so you don't have to worry about cleaning another kids germs off I agree with the other parents who stated that you should actually get one that bounces and has toys. I think most of the people who gave five star reviews on this have brand new babies still. My kids both hated it after 3 months and they were under 5 lbs so it was still roomy enough

too hot for warm weather,
By Nicole (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fisher-Price Papasan Seat (Baby Product)
I wish I had known before ordering this seat that the cushion is a fuzzy fleece. Now that the weather is warmer (70-75 degrees) my 2 month old gets hot and sweaty in this seat. He likes his other seat which has a breathable fabric, but he cries in this one. I'm sure it's because he is just too hot.
If your baby is due in the winter, this would be a very cozy seat for him or her.

Cozy but Dangerous!,
By
This review is from: Fisher-Price Papasan Seat (Baby Product)
I've enjoyed having this infant seat; however, my daughter is just 2.5 months old, and has cut her heel on the control box panel. She is still the under the size specified for use, and her feet dangle off the front, even while strapped in. Being the active baby she is, she likes to kick her feet when she looks around. One day I found blood on her heel near her achilles tendon, later I found dried blood on the corner of the control box, right where her foot sits. I'm very upset and plan to write Fisher-Price.
This is a cozy little seat, my daughter loves it, but if you can only use it for a month of two before it gets dangerous, it's not worth it. :(

Great for babies,

Our daughter is over four months old and I think this is a fantastic product that she has enjoyed and continues to enjoy her entire life (of over four months). It was a good variation from the swing and she fell asleep in it very easily when she was very small. Even at a larger age, she seems to enjoy it. What's best about it is it's small and maneuverable so you can take it with you into different rooms, or even by the kitchen table so you can watch your baby sleep while you eat. The music is sleep-provoking for the baby. We live in LA, and I didn't have a problem with the cloth fabric for hot weather. Because she was little she didn't notice the hanging rabbit or mirror until recently. Since swings are heavy and burdensome, this is a good place to keep the baby when you need to put him/her down for a few moments. I give it the highest recommendation.

A big help on smoothing my baby!,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Papasan Seat (Baby Product)
This little piece of baby swing/seat is really really helpful on baby sitting my infant girl, so we as tired parents can get some break. The cover is very soft and a little blanket on top keeps the baby very warm. The whole thing is so easy to take off, wash and put it back. My baby likes playing the little rabbit. We feel so excited to see her able to touch the rabbit and pull it off after few months' practicing herself. We change the little rabbit to other snap objects, like little pig, so she won't get bored. The seat frame made with with study material, so it is very safe. When the baby grow older, we put a piece of music toys (the one that help baby stands) in front of the seat, she can seat in the seat and play with the music toy. We get extra break. The seat belt is safe, so sometimes we will buckle the baby there when we need to be away and get some stuffs in the bathroom, kitchen, etc. This is a must piece for parents who has young baby.

Not worth the cost,

I got this chair for free. Thank goodness I didn't pay anything for it because it is not worth the cost. I only have the chair part and not the mobile which I wouldn't have used anyways. The chair itself looks as though it would be comfy but there is no other movement like rocking or bouncing. It has vibrate and melody settings that are totally useless for my infant son. He could care less. The only thing this chair is good for is literally for sitting him in it when he is in a good mood. So, for now, it's useful but I would not recommend buying this chair if you need something that will actually aid you in entertaining and soothing your infant. FP has much better products out there.

BORING!!!!!,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Papasan Seat (Baby Product)
This bouncer is so boring. It only has one boring bunny dangling from above. The music is also annoying to me. My son does like the vibrations but only stays in about 10 minutes at a time. again - BORING. I am reselling it and buying the Rainforest Bouncer. BORING!!!!!

My son loved this seat so much as an infant he wouldnt sleep in anything else. It so comfortable! THe only problem is by 3 months its boring and it sits back to far. It definatly was designed for only a childs first couple of months.

Not that useful -- and, an unwise choice of religious music,
By D Darkman (New York State) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fisher-Price Papasan Seat (Baby Product)
My baby really never liked sitting in this chair. Always squirming, wants to get out -- this is from 1 month up to 4 months (as he is today... can't evaluate beyond 4 mos.) He doesn't appreciate the vibrate, nor the music that much. It's too firm to bounce appreciably (find something with 2 legs in front, none in back) Compare to a Baby Einstein mat placed on the floor, which simply captivates him and has him staring up at the blinking lights... although that's comparing apples to oranges, chalk to cheese.
The one thing that shocked me about this chair, was that the "music" option features the song "All Through the Night" which is a religious song. Now, it is a beautiful song, but come on, do you think America simply has no atheists, agnostics, Hindus, Jews, Moslems, Buddhists, etc., that you could slip in a little Christian music there and think no one at all will mind? Honestly, could you imagine a company thinking it would be appropriate to spring on unsuspecting buyers baby music that was actually "L'internationale" the communist anthem, or "Hava Nagila", or "Dixie" or the theme song for Greenpeace or the NRA or something specific like that? It's just not right from a business point of view -- aimed at a general buying public, you should not do something tailored and specific to a subset market. What were they thinking? If you're Christian -- then obviously this is a fine item you might love. But without labeling it as a Christian-music item, it's terribly unfair to sell it they way they did. |
