Of all the way too many toys my 11 month old has, I would say this one gets used the most! It's a very simple toy---basically just an open box with shape openings on the side. Blocks like the Peek-a-blocks but in different sizes come with it. It has batteries for sound, and the sound plays very easily when you put the blocks in, or in fact anything in! That is what is so fun for my daughter---I can fill the box up with all sorts of her toys, and she takes them out and puts them back in, and gets rewarded with non-annoying musical sounds for doing so! She isn't much for sorting yet, but I think she will be soon, and it's nice this integrates with her other FP block toys. Most any box can be used for most of what we use this for, but this is very durable, has smooth edges, and it's the rare case that the slight electronics it has actually adds to the fun!

Great Toy but Handle can be tricky,

I agree with a previous review. The handle has pinched our daughter's fingers several times. I wasn't sure what to do so I just tried to watch her more carefully while she was using. One day while my husband was home he saw her do it. He took the toy and using a screwdriver took the top apart and removed the handle. Once she is old enough (she is eight months now) to carry the toy around we will put the handle back on. Other then that, I love this toy. I also use this sorter for storage for her other PeekaBlocks and RollaRounds. I was disappointed though, that normal shaped rollarounds won't fit in the circle shape. Other then that, I think the shape sorter is a great idea for a traditional toy. Sarah also loves to hit it so the music starts. All around it's a great toy and educational.

I bought this toy for my 9 month old about a month ago. I have been very surpried by how much he loves it. Aside from his activity house, it is his favorite. He learned very quickly how to take the blocks in and out. He can spend a lot of time just doing that. It's a great toy.

I originally bought this toy last Christmas for my then five-month old daughter. I mainly bought it because I knew my daughter 'should have' a shape sorter for 'learning purposes.' I bought a lot of the peek-a-block items, and I had no idea she would end up loving THIS ONE so much and playing with it as much as she does. It's actually one of the toys she plays with the most . . . even now at 17 months old! The sorter is of course used for transporting much more than the four shapes that comes with it, but she enjoys the music, and the size is just perfect for her play. And she has found that it can sort a variety of items as well! I should warn those of you who also have climbers, that she likes to try to stand in it with both feet, use it as a stepstool, etc, which of course, it isn't made for. But she's going to do that with anything!
Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised, and it has far exceeded my expectations . . . making it WAY worth the money! (I've already gotten a year of play out of it, and I don't foresee her getting tired of it anytime soon!)

I have a 6mos old daughter who loves this toy. She loves putting the toys in the box and taking them out. And the music that is played has two different volumes which is really nice. The music is also very clear. This toy is very durable and not to heavy.

My son loves this toy he got for his first birthday. It's all about putting the blocks in and out allll daaay lonnng. =) He'd be happy for months if the only toys he had to play with were this, his ride-on scooter/walker, and the dog's water bowl (his 3rd favorite toy)!! Overall: a great buy.

Our 9 month old loves this toy. I first sat down with her to play with it and showed her with one block,"inside, outside."
She picked up on it very quickly. She nows likes to drop the blocks "inside" and take them "outside." (she does this through the top and not the shapes, but I like that she can learn shapes/color recognition with this as well.) She loves the handle and I can see that when she gets more mobile, she'll want to carry it around with her....and we can eventually use it for cleaning up time too (which I love). The music starts when you either shake it or drop a shaped block in--it isn't too annoying and you can turn it on low or off easily.

I looked for a year for a shape sorter that was made well and simple. The others that I found were either cheap looking or to difficult for little fingers to do. This one is great. We already have lots of other peek a boo blocks and love them all. My 19 month old son mastered the shapes very quickly. (It was a Christmas present) He loves the fun sounds and the handle to carry around his blocks, and the colors and shapes are great for learning.
The only thing that I would change is the square. It will only go in one way which can be difficult for children to understand.

Ok well all is good about this toy but they made what is supposed to be a square prism a rectangular prism which is lame because for one it is not a square, two because it only fits through the hole one way and all the other toys that use peak a blocks (they look the same to a child) are, infact, square so this block does not fit right in all those toys. Yeah I would get this and then throw out the square block if you have other peak a blocks and use those instead. If you have no other peak a blocks well then I suppose you have to deal with the frustration of seeing your child almost successful at putting it through then oh wait "you did everything right but you must orient the block this way for it to fit sorry" and deal with lying about it being a square...yeah thats my beef but my daughter still likes it. It is still a good toy if that were not a problem it would be a 4.5 star product.
