The Coolest Rescue Hero Toy Yet,
By A Customer

This review is from: PowerMax Ultimate Robotic Vehicle (Toy)
We just gave this toy to my son for his bday last night and he loves it. "URV" is very fun. The robot holds figures and is controlled by an easy remote control. It lights up and speaks with the voice tech characters. It is a bit heavy at 14 lbs and kids 3 and under might need help holding it. I predict this toy will be one of the hottest holiday toys so buy it early. It seems sturdy. It has a couple of negative features. The first is that it requires 7 batteries, 4 c's and 3 AAA's. That could get pricey. I also wish the remote was cordless for ease of use. It also took me a while to figure out how to use the power max tools with it. But that is the only feature that gave us problems. If your kids love rescue heroes they will definately want this toy. I can already see that it will be my son's favorite rescue toy. He loves all the special features, he was amazed when it scanned and revealed the voice tech figures idenity. He can't wait to get home from school and use it with all his Rescue Hero Toys. I know it is a bit expensive but it is well made and worth the price.

Rescue Heroes Rule!,

My son loves Rescue Heroes, and I do too! They're so reasonably priced. They're so durable, and best yet, they don't come with a thousand itty bitty parts that get lost or broken after you open the package! Besides all the obviouse basic of the URV, my son (and husband) were amazed that the URV recognized each Voice Tech. figure! I, on the other hand, thought it was so cool how the robot used Jack Hammer's saw! Guess I'll be buying every Voice Tech. figure I can find :>)!

We purchased this toy for our 4 year old son. He loves it. My 2 year old son likes it also. My husband and I think the toy is a lot of fun. We did have a little trouble getting the winch arm to extract. The Rescue Heroes are great at getting the imagination going. My son is constantly in the mode of saving someone from distress. We were glad to add this toy to our collection. Well worth the money.

I purchased the URV on sale recently because my son has been begging for it for months. He loves its voice commands, headlight, and socket for RH power tools. However, I'm so frustrated with the quality. Our first robot's arm didn't move up and down with the remote control. We exchanged it for another, whose grabber claw does not click into the arm. Now, I'm hoping the third one will be fully functional after we go to the trouble of removing all those wire tie-downs and packaging.

Faulty but Fun - Fisher Price's tips to get winch to work,
By A Customer

As mentioned by other reviewers, our winch did not appear to work either. I called Fisher Price for more information. They said that the arm is not strong enough to lauch the winch because the pulley winds to tightly (great design on their part). To make the winch launch you must pull out the string to the distance you want the winch to travel (you have to pull hard). Put the winch back into URV's arm and now press the button. The winch will now "work." Definitely a design flaw but my three year old was thrilled to see it finally work. Also, a cordless remote would have made URV more fun (another design flaw). I probably wouldn't have purchased this toy (it was a Christmas present) but my son, a Rescue Hereos fanatic, does love it and it appears to be durable.

When my 4-year-old saw this toy on TV (and wanted it, of course), I did not want to spend $50 on another toy he'd play with for 1 day. I saw it was the winner in a magazine's toy ratings by kids (in it's category), so we got it for his birthday. He LOVES it. It does so many cool things, and it is easy for him to use (he does need help getting the heroes in and out, though). My dad thought we paid even more than [X]! It's a big hit with his friends, too.

We purchased this toy for our 3 year old son as a reward in potty training. He had worked toward it for weeks. He already has a large Rescue Hero collection, including the Aqua Command Center & airplane. We like all of these toys. The URV robot does not really do anything but walk a little bit, talk & activate the Voice Tech dolls, which it can also identify by name. The remote is attached by a short cord & barely works, and the robot is very clunky and unresponsive. We don't have the Powermax figures so I cannot comment on that feature. It also shuts down if not used for a relatively short time, and is then hard to restart. For fifty bucks, I would expect more! This toy does not deliver value. My son has had it for 3 weeks and already does not play with it. Save your money!

When my two sons, then ages 4 and 5, received URV from their grandparents last Christmas, I thought "Oh no, it will never last." But here it is July and URV has been through thick and thin at our house. And I've only changed the batteries once. I babysit and URV entertains babies and kids, girls and boys, of all ages. Great toy!

We bought this for our 5 year-old and it was easily his favorite Christmas present. He opened it up and put in batteries before even finishing unwrapping his other gifts. Once my 8 year-old saw all the cool things that "URV" can do, he wanted to play with it too. They both went on a hunt for scattered-over-the-years Rescue Heroes and engaged in Rescue Hero play for days. "URV" walks and talks, moves his arm to pick things up, extends his head, and, best of all, "recognizes" any Voice Tech Rescue Heroes you put in to drive him. (Another RH can also ride on in back.) The kids love to "rescue" various action figures / stuffed animals with him, and are always looking for things for "URV" to pick up with his grabber hand. My 5 year-old wants to sleep with URV - but I park him just beside his bed. This toy was easy to work, and has been well loved and durable in the month since Christmas. It rekindled a lot of RH play.

My 5 year old really wanted this for Christmas,

My 5 year old really wanted this for Christmas so I went out and got it early thinking that it would be a hot item. He really does like it and has played with it some but I wasn't really happy with the claw arm. It did not work fully and was difficult to get out, but he seems to not mind. I believe it was overpriced for the entertainment value it provides.
