5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product!
We moved our baby girl into her crib at 2 months, and it was also her first night with her projection mobile. She loved it! She's 3.5 months now, and she still talks to her animals every night as she's falling asleep. We always put her to bed while she's still awake, and she falls asleep talking. This is one of the top 5 baby items I wouldn't want to be without!

1.0 out of 5 stars Great, if you can make it last longer than a few weeks
We purchased this for our newborn daughter and in the beginning I loved it. It calmed her down for bedtime and was a great part of our bedtime routine. 2 months after I bought it, the motor burned out-the mobile stopped turning and the projection stopped moving RIGHT BEFORE BEDTIME!!! Great timing! I thought I had just bought a lemon, so I purchased another on the next...

I thought I had just bought a lemon, so I purchased another on the next day. 4 weeks later it did the same exact thing, right before bedtime again. I don't know if it's some cruel joke the company is playing on me, but I'm not laughing. I did find out that Fisher Price offers a one year warranty on their items, but it's still a pain as they won't send me a new one until they get my broken item, so the entire process will take about 4-6 weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mobile & Projection!!!, April 7, 2010

I purchased this for my son when he was about 3 months old and trying to get him to fall asleep on his own. I probably should have purchased it sooner so, as not to introduce a new mobile all of a sudden. It took him a few days to get use to it but he really likes it now. It would have been ideal to use from birth on so, the heartbeat sound could soothe him but, we mostly use the classical music. As for getting him to fall asleep on his own sometimes, it works and sometimes it doesn't. I guess circumstances have to be perfect. I can't wait to remove the mobile and use it as a projection on the ceiling, I know he'll love it! All three sound options are great and I like that it comes with a remote which really comes in handy. All in all I would highly recommend and definitely saving for my second baby and using from birth on. As for it attaching to the crib it worked out perfect and we have a 3 in 1 convertible crib from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child with a wide rail. A definite must have for baby!!

3.0 out of 5 stars I WAS loving this mobile, but...., June 21, 2010
This review is from: Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile (Baby Product)
Our baby girl LOVES this mobile. Every time we lay her in her crib, she looks at it waiting for us to turn it on. It's great because it lasts about 20 minutes and when they start pulling up, you can take the mobile part down for a light show on the ceiling. However...
A few nights ago, my four month old woke us up crying. I thought she was hungry, but the mobile 'canopy' had became unscrewed and fell on her face. It did no harm to her because it is super light, but this was assembled correctly and now, if we want to continue to use it, we'll have to do frequent checks on that screw. We'll keep it because she loves it and I don't think the canopy can do any real harm to her, but this is really annoying to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars LJ's MAMA, February 9, 2010
This review is from: Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile (Baby Product)
I bought this for my son when he was about 3 months old. The heart beat would put him right to sleep, also the nature sounds. Now he's about to turn ONE YEAR (WOW where does the time go) and he loves it still. When my son started standing up i had to take the mobile part (the revolving animals) off since he, like all babies, grabs everything he can get his chubby little hands on. So now the projection lights show wonderfully on the ceiling and LJ claps when i put him in his crib for nap time or bed time. The best part is when he can't sleep and wakes up, he just presses the button for the music and lights all by himself and falls right back asleep. Also when he wakes in the morning he'll turn it on and play contently while I muster up the energy to get out of bed...he's an early riser lol.

This is a definite must for all babies...AND PARENTS lol.

Pros?

I love that the mobile lasts for 15+ minutes.
I love the projection (so does baby!).
The music is not terribly grating.

Cons?

The remote works inconsistently at best--sometimes it works from the doorway and sometimes I can hold the remote directly in front of the mobile and it still won't work. VERY FRUSTRATING. Maybe by the time we have baby #2 someone will have invented a real remote mobile that can turn on from another room!!

It's impossible to see the volume/projection buttons in a dark room--say, if you only want the music or only want the projection. Of course, I am sure this is a con for most mobiles.

I wish there was an easier way to turn it off once it's on. Unless I am missing something, you have to flip the side switch to off, then switch it back to auto (or whatever it's called) so it will be ready for you the next time. I would like a distinct OFF button on the front.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice Mobile, but the canopy falls off, March 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile (Baby Product)
Initially I was very impressed with this mobile. The projection was very cool and my 2 month old really liked looking at it. I also liked the music, it was rather calming and not too annoying like so many other baby toys. The problem I have with this mobile is that the canopy falls off, even though I know I put it together correctly. The first time it happened it fell right on my baby (it is very light weight, so it didn't hurt him). I chalked this up to a one time thing and snapped the canopy back on. The next night, when I was fortunately nursing my baby when I heard a big thud-it happened again. I have since discontinued using the canopy and I am planning on returning the item.

I bought this in hopes of soothing my baby at bedtime. I chose it because of the positive reviews stating it held babies' interest so well; and that's part of my problem. I've only been able to use this mobile a few times because it really does hold my baby's interest. He is mesmerized by it. When I first bought it, he was not yet sleeping through the night and we were using a classical music CD to soothe him. When I tried to put him to sleep I turned on the mobile and he'd stare at it then start to cry as soon as it stopped, even after restarting it.

My other issue is the volume. The lowest setting is a lot louder than the CD we had playing before and the music stops suddenly at the 20 minute limit, jarring baby awake. There is also no way to use this mobile without music or other sounds. Unless you remove the batteries for the speaker (and I'm not sure if there are separate batteries for them), you are stuck with the noise.

Now, I only use the mobile when I have to distract my baby for a few minutes to do something around the house.

EDIT: Now that my baby is a little older, he drifts off while watching the mobile and it is fast becoming the preferred way to get him to sleep... with a little help. The mobile itself won't make him drowsy, but it will distract him from wiggling too much and wanting to fuss, which wakes him up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh how I love you mobile, but your quliaty not so much, August 16, 2010

I love this mobile or rather I should say, my son loves this mobile and in turn I love it too. It has really helped me get him to calm down when going down for a nap. There are a few constructive criticism points I would like to make though. First of all it is NOT high quality. We have gone through more than one of these until we seemed to find one that would stand up to regular use. There was a lot of returning of this product. I love Amazon, but you might want to buy it from a retailer that it is easier to do returns with. Second, getting it tight to the crib is difficult and when your child learns to kick or hit it to turn it on you might come back in to the room and see it leaning to an angle. Third, it has a big imprint. This is not a problem for me but this will not work with all cribs.
There are a lot of things that I love about this mobile too. I love the projected image and the fact you can take the mobile part off. I love the remote. I also love that it is easy for my son to turn on. Almost every day he wakes up, turns the mobile on and then just waits for me to come and get him. It does not eat batteries, but it does use D's. I highly recommend getting rechargeables and having two rotating sets to save money.
I do recommend this mobile but take these points in to consideration when deciding if it is right for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Mobile, February 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fisher-Price Precious Planet 2-in-1 Projection Mobile (Baby Product)
I love this mobile!. The music lasts 20 minutes and then you have a handy remote to start it up again if you want it to go longer without having to go in and disturb the baby. My baby got boared really easy so we tried this one because it has a light show and she loves lights. It was a hit! I also like that in addition to the music options there is a heartbeat option which really helps my baby go to sleep. So for play I put it on the music and then for bedtime I put it on the heartbeat. Its also great that there is the option to have just the sound on and hte mobile and lights off which is great for bedtime.

What I didnt like is the characters dont hang down very far to keep the babies interest. We ended up swapping them out with the characters from the old mobile that we didnt like that had longer strings. The nice thing is the way this mobile holds them in you could pretty much use characters from any mobile. The other problem we had is the plastic part that is the adjustor to make it tight to the crib broke and I was annoyed to find out that it isnt a replacement part. When I called fisherprice about it they sent me a return label to return it to them for full refund no receipt or box needed! So we got a brand new one. Fisherprice customer service was great to deal with. They didnt give me any hassle at all.
