Love It!,

This review is from: Fisher-Price Rainforest Deluxe Auto Mirror (Toy)
I had orginally purchased the Ocean Wonders Kick N' View and was a bit disappointed in it so I decided to try this one. It is great! I have a large SUV and wanted to be able to see my daughter in my rearview mirror while I am driving. This mirror allows me to do that and she also enjoys looking at herself as well. She enjoys the music and now waits for me to put it on when we get in the car. The lights are nice for night driving or overcast days. Definitely worth buying to keep your baby entertained and for you to be able to check on your baby without turning around.

A baby gear must have!!,

I got thie mirror when my daughter was two days old and it has been irreplaceable since then. I hated not being able to see my daughter when I was driving, so I went out and bought this one after looking at others. I installed it before we left the parking lot and I use it constantly. When I ride in another car with my daughter that dosen't have a mirror, I really miss it. I can always see if she is sleeping or if she has spit up. The mirror is larger than many others and has the sound and lights features, which my daughter loves. It was also a lot easier to install than others I have seen.

Maybe I got a defective one,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Rainforest Deluxe Auto Mirror (Toy)
One thing I liked about this mirror was the bright colors, shapes and animals along the border. My son did like to look at them. I ended up returning this mirror though for a few reasons.
I could not get this mirror to stay put in my car. I tried three different methods/positions of installing it and it had shifted each time I got in the car. I thought I would like it because the mirror was so big and it would be easy to see my baby, but each shift resulted in my baby being out of view. The noises that came out of it were horrible. I thought it was supposed to play a song, but it was just some grinding static-like noise. I tried replacing the batteries to see if I could get music, but I did not. The remote did not work unless it was within a few inches of the mirror. It was not practical or safe for me to reach back behind myself while driving. I tried replacing these batteries too, to no avail. Perhaps mine was just defective. After all, I've been quite happy with other Fisher Price items I own.

I think the idea of the lights and music is better than the actual product itself. The lights aren't bright enough to see during the day, so I mainly just use it as a mirror (an over-priced mirror, at that!). I have only used the lights and music probably about 10 times in about a 5 month period. My 6 month old has never really been very interested in it. Also, the biggest complaint I have is for cleaning the product. We had a small smudge on it one day and my husband used a very soft eyeglass cleaning cloth and it made the mirror blury. I have yet to figure out how to properly clean it. The directions say to use a soft cloth, they don't get much softer than eyeglass cloths. The mirror was then ruined, you couldn't see anything in it. We exchanged it, since I didn't have the receipt, for another one of the same and will hopefully not need to clean it! If so, I will definitely not replace it with the same over priced mirror.

Good quality mirror, but is a bit big & can obstruct view,

This review is from: Fisher-Price Rainforest Deluxe Auto Mirror (Toy)
As far as auto mirrors go, this one has been quite good for us. Granted, we had no problems installing it *solidly* in our car -- [...]. (We use this in a Subaru Outback on the middle headrest of the back seat. It fits great in our car and is quite secure -- First, there is an opening for the headrest to go through, wide straps with velcro tabs that secure the unit around a headrest, and finally there is a clip that hooks from the headrest straps onto the back of the mirror... all so the mirror can't fly forward freely in an accident. I've not seen anything better on other mirrors I looked at in BRU.)
I can say that if this mirror wasn't attached so securely in my car, I too wouldn't use it as (like others have mentioned) it would be a huge liability to your child's safety in an auto accident. Other Pros: - In some regards, the size of the mirror is a bonus because it is so easy to see your whole child in his/her carseat. Plus, the size allows your child to see you better (this has been a HUGE plus for my son who really needed to see me -- even the back of me -- as he was getting use to being in the car). - The mirror is easy to clean (doesn't scratch the way other auto mirrors do -- see my review of the Baby In Sight mirror). - The light show and music can be an attention grabber for a cranky infant. (But, to be honest... we've only had this work once or twice as our son really isn't that interested in the toy aspect of the mirror -- he prefers a stuffed animal in his lap.) - The remote control that comes with the unit is super handy for turning the light and/or music off and on (but know that the switch to play either lights, music, or lights & music is on the mirror itself and must be set ahead of time... the remote is *just* an on/off switch). - For those using the music feature of this mirror... you'll be happy to know that there *is* volume control!! Whoo hooo! :) Cons: - The size can be a negative because it does obstruct the view out my back window quite a bit. (I have found ways to get around the blindspot that the mirror creates by over-cautiously using my side mirrors & side windows when passing, merging, etc. but then again... in my wagon visibility is generally pretty easy. In some cars, the blindspot this mirror creates could be too dangerous.) - As any kids' toy that toots, whistles, sings, etc., this one requires batteries. If your kid really uses/needs the light show and/or music of this mirror... keep some extra batteries (and a screwdriver!) handy in your glovebox!! Hope that helps!

I love this mirror!!!,

I bought this mirror when my son was 4 weeks old. I'm a first time mom, and the idea of my son being in the backseat facing backward in my SUV, and me not being able to him him made me nervous. Having this mirror eased all my fears. I can see his entire body, and not just his head. My son is now 13 weeks. I haven't had to replace the batteries yet....and we use it a lot!
Every time I place my son in his carseat, he looks at himself in the mirror and giggles. I had no problem getting it into my SUV. The carseat is in the middle seat, and I also have no problems seeing over it. I have tinted windows, and we can see the "light show" day or night. Also....I live in South Florida, and My car sits outside all day long......the summer heat has had no affect on this product.

I bought this toy for my 3-month old daughter, and we both love it. As soon as I put her in her carseat, she starts to smile and coo at her reflection. I only use the lights and music when she gets fussy, and it has kept her calm for many car rides. I love that it has a volume control - so many toys only have one setting that is usually way too loud. The only change I would make would be to turn on the music at the mirror also, instead of only being able to use the remote. I wish I would have had something like this when my 5-year old & 3-year old were babies.

I bought this after buying many other back seat mirrors. Other mirrors I bought were either plain or too small. This mirror is not only large enough to see my daughter but it also entertains her as well.

Very Dangerous,

I thought it was just me, but just like another reviewer, mine got overheated and started to smell like it was on fire - and it wasn't even turned on, it just had batteries in it for 5 minutes!! Luckily, I didn't spend my money, it was a gift. DO NOT buy this, it needs to be recalled. And what bright light decided that it needs to have two different sizes of batteries, like I have nothing else to do.

This product offers more than just a mirror to view your baby in the back seat, but there are some problems. There are several means to attach this to your vehicle, but I had problems getting it to stay in one vehicle, but was successful when it was attached to a headrest (which I do not have in the middle of my SUV). Unfortunately, the velcro got stuck while I was attempting to adjust it under the headrest and I wound up craking the mirror. The batteries drain very quickly when it is not turned off (this is due to the remote control feature -- which is great in concept if it were not for the battery drain). All-in-all, this was a good purchase since other products do not offer music and lights and my baby does like it.
