5.0 out of 5 stars Great interactive book for all ages.
Great Gift. School bus books are popular with young children. All of my children (from 2 to 7) love this book. The two year old can play with the flaps, identify colors, shapes, opposites and count. The 4 year old can begin to read/memorize the word labels. The 7 year old can read the story. It's sturdy and creative.

3.0 out of 5 stars 2 year old loves it
My 2 year old absolutely loves this book, but I must say it is one of the most exhausting books we have. There are too many flaps and the content is too much for a 2 year old to take in. We have been breaking it up when we read to her. One night we talk about the colors, the next shapes. Good book.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Little People School Bus - A Great Book, January 13, 2005
This review is from: Fisher Price School Bus Lift the Flap (Fisher-Price Lift-The-Flap Playbook) (Board book)
My son loves flap books, and he loves Little People toys, so naturally this is a great combination for us! The flaps are fairly durable, he has only torn one or two since he had the book (about 6 months), and they are easily repairable with tape. The concepts of each page are very educational and creative. Our favorite page currently is the counting page!

5.0 out of 5 stars The BIG yellow bus that could, February 12, 2002

My 19 month old loves this book, and prefers it over all of his other books. The flaps have won him over. He loves pulling them up and down to see what "opposite" is on the other side. Because it's centered around school, he relates to it easily since he's in daycare. It's the first book he's started "reading" to himself and to his little buddy doll, and he's even started "counting" all the little people in the book. He wants to take the book everywhere we go! I'm going to get the other books in this series, so that he'll have new adventures to pursue once he's "finished" his fascinating bus ride.

4.0 out of 5 stars Explaining the school play, February 1, 2006

I just wanted to respond to Bonita's review because when I read her review, I originally hesitated about buying the book. As she mentioned, the school play being presented is Little Red Riding Hood, as clearly shown on a sign on the stage. So the elderly woman who is bound in a closet is Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother who has been tied up by the big bad wolf. And the African-American with the bow and arrows is not a "pretend Native American," but rather the hero of the play, the woodcutter who has come to save Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother.

My children love Little People and being able to buy books where they can recognise the characters is exciting for them. The lift-the-flaps get my children involved in the story while I read it to them. No matter how many times we read it, it's always a surprise to find out what is under the flap. A lovely book to share with your growing children and one that isn't too babyish when they start to read themselves.

This review is from: Fisher Price School Bus Lift the Flap (Fisher-Price Lift-The-Flap Playbook) (Board book)
Both my children read, played, and used these books and they withstood their rough and tumble hands. The lift up flaps easily empowers a child to sit and look at the book ("read") on their own. Perfect for building an independent love for reading. Highly recommended.

This is a good book for stimulating curiosity and teaching comparisons in pre-schoolers. Most children love any book with a flap to lift.

The Little People book series is fantastic. I am a teacher and love these books. My daughter, turning four, has had them since she was born and has yet to get bored with them. In fact, we're putting the rest on her wish list! They constantly teach, no matter the age of the child, and are easy for little hands and fingers. The wording is simple yet effective, and the illustrations do a great job of complementing the words and really letting the child understand the emotion, opposite, or whatever the word is being taught. The pages themselves promote further discussions that can be teachable moments. I love reading these with my daughter and especially seeing how excited she gets when she can do things in them on her own (pointing out the opposites to ME, for example).
