3.0 out of 5 stars Too Expensive on Amazon!
I bought this toy on Amazon for 39.99!!! What a fool I was because I went in to Toys R Us and it was 19.99!! I sure got ripped off! How could these people who sell it justify selling it for twice as much??
My son likes playing with it and it is a good toy, but buy it somewhere else!

I bought this as a birthday present for my two year old son. It ended up being the toy he played with (and abandoned all the rest) on his birthday. He plays the alphabet song over and over. Surprisingly my nearly 4 year old loves it too, but she plays with it differently. She uses the function where one of the character says a word and then she has to press which letter the word starts with. I was delighted to hear her repeating the words, sounding them out and then selecting the correct starting letter. Great educational toy. They have lots of fun driving it around as a bus too. Only drawback so far is that it is very loud and there is no volume control (other than the off switch).

5.0 out of 5 stars all 3 kids love it!, November 26, 2007

This toy is one of the most used in our house. I have 3 kids age 4, 2, 1. The 4 yr old loves to use the "what letter does the word ____ start with" mode (they are doing that in preschool too). My 2 yr old loves the "find the letter _ " mode. My 1 yr old just loves to dance while it sings the alphabet (with the push of the red stopsign button). We'll have it out for years!

4.0 out of 5 stars Elmo's Alphabet Bus, October 23, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

My kids (1 and 3) love this toy! There are games you can play (Ernie asks to find the letter that begins the word _____), or you can press each letter to hear it's sound. There is also a button to hear Elmo sing the alphabet, which definitely helped my kids learn their letters. With the wheels, the kids can "drive" the bus around the house.
Drawbacks - no volume control. After a while, my son repeatedly presses the "song" button, so Elmo gets stuck yelling "A, B, A, A, A, A" and it gets somewhat annoying. It also takes a while to turn off - the characters each say good bye and see you again next time, so when we're done with play time the good bye sequence is so cheerful and loud my son thinks it's play time again.
Overall, still a fun learning toy.

This is one of those few products I had to go out of my way to review because it is SO good. My son got this for his 1st birthday. He is now turning 2 and this is still a favorite. The reason why I love this toy so much is that it is solely responsible for teaching my son the alphabet... behind our backs!!! I don't remember how old he was now, but I believe it was around 17 months that he first started to show us that he knew all the letters. He must have used the function where you press the letter and it says what it is to learn it. Then he "shows" us by using the mode where it says "Cookie monster is hungry for letter the 'T'" - and then he presses the T. He seriously knows all of his letters now. I thought it was a fluke the first time he did it, but when he did it letter after letter day after day, I knew he had really learned the alphabet at less than 2 years old!! I do have to admit that he also LOVES the button that sings the alphabet song. He will press this over and over and over and over again. This is great for him - not so great for the parents. But again, I thank this toy so much for teaching my son before I even had a chance that I don't care how annoying that song can be after the 100th time! And in case you are wondering, it is rough and tough. He stands on it, throws it and you name it... and it is still going strong! Thank you Fisher-Price!!!

Nice that it has diffeerent levels it will ID the letters for one or ask you to find the letter for the other. My daughter loves the ABC song and plays with this for about 3-4 minutes at a time (17 months) but she goes back to it daily several times a day.

My daughter got this for her 1st birthday. She loves it. Characters are understandable and clear. My only problem is that there is no volume control on it and it seems to be very loud. So it is in the "off" switch quite a bit. :o)

4.0 out of 5 stars Not on our Daughter's Heavy Rotation of Toys, July 31, 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

Length:: 2:41 Mins

Elmo's Alphabet brings together our daughter's favorite Sesame Street characters, one of her favorite shapes (a school bus), and the alphabet... but for some reason it does not rank highly on her favorite toy list. As you can see in the video the bus features Elmo in the driver's seat with Cookie Monster and Ernie in the back. Big Bird call out each of the letters as the are pressed.

A few other notes -

- Once the music button is pushed Elmo sings the alphabet
- There are several alphabet games that can be played, but our daughter is still a bit too young to play.
- The wheels on the bus spin, and the bus does roll but it the toy is pretty top-heavy so it falls over very easily.
- Lots of color and a few (red) lights
- Takes 3AA batteries

Final Verdict - Again, I am bit puzzled why our daughter doesn't play with it more - but since it doesn't have a volume control I am not too disappointed that this one stays buried amongst her toys.

3 1/2 to 4 Stars

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Loud with No Volume Control, January 1, 2010

Our toddler loves Sesame Street, so he was thrilled to receive this toy. He dances when he hears the alphabet song, which is cute and educational. But, it's simply too loud to tolerate. We had to take the bus apart to insert a cardboard barrier in the speaker in order to muffle the sound a little. If this had a volume control, it would be a 4 or 5 star toy; but removing the 20 screws in the back to put in our own damper is a little ridiculous.
