My son really enjoyed this toy from when he received it at about 18 months old until he was close to 3, and a toy that entertains a kid for that long is rare, in my experience. This is a pretty simple musical toy - press one of the ten buttons for a song and you can sing into the microphone, although my son has pretty much ignored the mike from the start. The songs aren't super-annoying but as with many other Elmo books and toys, it is quite loud and there is no volume adjustment. It doesn't have tremendous educational value either, but my son did learn all the songs and enjoy singing them, and I find value in that. One very big plus to this toy is its durability - ours has been dropped numerous times and has never stopped working, never been damaged in any way.

This is a super toy for little kids that love to hear their favorite songs over and over and over. Not only are the favorites here: Old MacDonald, Chicken Dance, Wheels on the Bus, Hokie Pokie and more, but the Elmo Theme song is here as well. I will fully admit that the microphone didn't hold any interest for my kids, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun later on.

It is 19 dollars at walmart same toy. I didnt get this toy off amazon because it was way over priced but it a great gift. Amazon has lots of good deals this is not one of em sorry amazon

We gave this to my 2 year old for his birthday last night.
Today we discover the microphone is already not working!
Pushing the microphone button was kind of hard from my 2 year old to do or remember so it wasnt even in use much. A longer button would have been easier for a toddler then the one little button.
The flaw in my opinions the too short cord connecting the microphone to the "radio". My son preferred to sit elmo on an end table and try to look at him while "singing". One little step back or head bop and Elmo would come crashing off into him. WHile not big enough to hurt him by any means, it definately interupted his play trying to set Elmo back up. Only to have him yanked off again at a slight move . He also tried to sit on the ground next to elmo and that did not work with the short cord.
My son still enjoys the toy, he is a huge elmo fan. He will still Dance to the music and singing when he can. I will try to contact customer service about the microphone. but for now it remains as a 2 star toy.

My 20 month old Daughter LOVES Elmo and LOVES this toy and has been "singing" away to the Elmo's World song and the chicken dance. It is very durable. The only problem is there is no volume control and the cord to the microphone is short. That being said, this is hands down her favorite toy this Christmas and she got a lot of toys. :)

I've bought this toy almost 5 years ago for my now 7 year old. She was into Elmo back then and really liked this toy. True the microphone has stoped working a while back but she still had fun with it for at least another year. I now have a 11 month old who's been going crazy about this toy since she was 5 months. At first she just liked the songs but now that she's older she loves pressing the buttons and hear Elmo sing. I believe she figured out which button plays what song. She likes to dance/bounce to the songs. Whenever she gets cranky I say "Where's Elmo?" and she starts looking for it and play with it. I take this toy on long rides to keep the baby entertain, which it certainly does. I also don't think it's to loud. Of course a volume control would've been good, but the volume doesn't really get to annoying for me. I'm really glad I bought this toy even though the microphone broke to fast. (I might take it appart one of these days to check for a shortage, because it worked for few minutes about a month ago)

There are a selection of ten buttons on the "boom box", each with it's own song. Your child can sing alike if they like, using the microphone, which I understand is short due to safety concerns. The microphone is what sets this toy apart from other big-plastic-elmo toys; unfortunately, it's just not that engaging.

The button on the Microphone is difficult to press and I agree with the reviewer that it should've been a longer button. Also, there is no volume control. None.

How loud is too loud? As the parent of an Elmo-loving toddler, a lot of Elmo toys are too loud. This one is the loudest of them all. The speakers sound like they're about to bust ALL THE TIME. I'm seriously considering placing thick tape over the speakers just to mute it down a touch but I doubt I'll go through the trouble and this is why: there is absolutely NO educational value to this toy whatsoever. If I could give it zero stars in that area, I would. Don't waste your money or your sanity!

This toy is so cute, my daughter (22months) loves it! She hasn't quite mastered the microphone yet but she's trying. The only downfall of this item is that it's really loud. I wish there was volume control. You can't beat a toy that both you, as the parent and your child loves!

Also, you can definetly get it cheaper at Walmart or Target. I paid about [...].

toy.I was especially impressed with the durability...two yearolds tends to drop things quite often. It's wonderful to know that it is'nt going to shatter evertime!

My neighbor boy has this toy. They have left it outside for over a year and it still works. It has been through snowstorms, hailstorms, and rainstorms. They only put batteries in once and it still works a year later. It is a very durable toy. My daughter loves playing with it when she is in their yard. We are going to get her her own Elmo soon! The songs are cute and she loves singing along with Elmo.
