I am going to stand up for this product. The reviews I have read are ridiculous indeed. This swing is a must for any new parent. This swing has literally saved my sanity with a colicy newborn. It works beautifully even after 8 months of daily use. The motor is not, I repeat, NOT loud. Sure you do here some sound, but not annoying and baby doesn't notice or care. The swing does not swing off center if the legs are expanded correctly. The swing only clicks when swinging if you stupidly try to change the direction of the swinging seat while the swing is in motion. The click will cease once turned off and on again. The swing is not cheaply made, quite the opposite. This swing is soft, comfortable and generally very well made. New parents are typically scared of the fast swinging of swings. This swing does swing well, a little fast on the lowest setting. Guess what new parents, the faster the better. Babies love faster, not slower. My daughter would only quiet down with the fastest setting right at birth. She was asleep in about 20 seconds with this miracle swing. Well, there you have it. This lovely product has saved me from potentially countless sleepless nights. Wonderful product, don't hesitate, just buy it and set it up before you give birth.

Our newborn has colic and this is the one thing that is making our life bearable, dare I say actually enjoyable. Previous to owning this swing every evening was spent trying to soothe our screaming baby for hours, unsuccessfully. We had another swing that we had to push manually that would work for short periods, but obviously as we were pushing it the movement was not fluid and we would get so tired we eventually would have to stop. Both of those factors would cause the screaming to return. We bought this swing out of desperation despite what we thought was a high price. We see now that it was well worth it. The side-to-side motion is smooth and constant, which has been able to calm our child within minutes for the most part. The A/C adapter is an absolutely wonderful feature as well as we can just put him in there and let the swing go as long as need be without a potential interruption. We start bedtime in this swing and usually our son will sleep 4-5 hours in it once per night before waking up to nurse again and then moving to his crib, which he will actually transfer to now that he's getting a deeper sleep. It has also helped us immensely to establish a routine during the day of sleeping, eating, playing, and sleeping again as he is easier to coax into napping with the swaying motion and snuggly seat than without them, and he stays asleep longer (rather than waking up after 5 minutes because he's realized we're not holding or bouncing him anymore). It's given us more sleep and more time to get our own things done, which makes everything better across the board for us because we are no longer as tired or frustrated as before! We have smiles and a spring in our step once more!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I have four kids. I've gone through a lot of swings over the years, and I can say with confidence that Fisher-Price makes the best swings. They are the most comfortable and they last. We use these for the "mid-day nap" and nights where the baby has a cold (helps keep them upright which can help prevent ear infections, minimize post-nasal drip and settle them if a cough wakes them up). Let me tell you about the things that matter when it comes to baby naps in these swings:
1. You can plug it in so you don’t have issues with batteries failing in the middle of nap time.
2. It's soft and comfortable.
3. It swings from side-to-side.
4. It’s safe.

Let me tell you what doesn't matter:
1. It plays music and has other sound options (they don't help)
2. It has toys for babies to look at (I take them off, they bother little babies and distract older ones)
3. What the theme is: babies don't care.

Some of them have a set of toys that snap across their lap. This keeps them awake and makes it hard to tap on the side. Tapping on the side of a swing rhythmically is a *great* way to put a wired baby to sleep. I don't want a piece of plastic there, I want padding which is more comfortable to tap.

So this is a great swing, and this version doesn’t have the old "dial" for setting the swing speed. Those were a little noisy to turn and could wake a napping baby. When you are sleep deprived yourself, anything that helps a baby sleep is gold. So get this model (or one like it) instead, which has nice quiet buttons.

Other things I like: the covers come off fairly easily and you can machine wash them (though the swings with the netting in back like this one add a minor amount of hassle – you will need to use a gentle cycle).

I bought this swing brand new. I read some mixed reviews online but the majority of all swings are made by fisher price so I purchased the nicest one. This is the second fisher price swing I've owned in the past couple of years and I can honestly say that their quality control is absolutely terrible.

Here's a list of things that make fisher price swings the worst swings you can buy.

1) They're expensive. They all typically cost between $120-$160.
2) They are not quiet. My son weighs about 10 pounds and all I hear all day is "clunk clunk, clunk clunk".
3) The motors are pathetic. After about 3 months mine started to slowly give up. I could only get the swing to work if I pushed it a couple of times to help the motor along. The motor finally died last night, about 1 year after purchase. 1 year might not seem terrible but my son has been in the hospital for 150+ days this year so in reality it broke after about 6 months of use.

This is the second fisher price swing I've purchased in the past 5 years. I thought the first one I bought was OK until the motor went out within the first year. Now that it's happened twice I decided to write a review.

Avoid Fisher price. I wish I could tell you another manufacturer that made a better swing. The real problem is that Fisher Price makes all of the swings in the stores! I don't even know what else to buy and I need a new swing today so I'll probably end up with another Fisher Price. Thankfully this new one won't need to last more than 6 months or so before I won't need it anymore. Let's hope it lasts that long.

I'm angry because these swings are mass produced, cheaply made junk meant to fall apart within a year. I can't believe Fisher Price has the audacity to charge as much as they do for these terrible swings.
