Better than the expensive brands,

Before purchacing this monitor, my husband and I tried 3 different monitors ranging in price from $70-$100 from Angelcare, The First Years, and Graco. We had NO luck with any of them. They were very staticy, wouldn't work if near a cordless phone, and our baby sounded muffled or like a computer voice. Fed up, we finally decided just to go out and buy a "cheap" one, thinking it can't be any worse than the others. What a pleasant surprise!! This monitor is so clear and sensitive you can hear the baby breathe! The sound quality is excellent as if the baby was right there in our room. I can't say enough of how happy we are with this monitor.

I just purchased this monitor after returning 3 others. So far the sound quality is amazing. I can hear everything going on in the nursery with no problem and with a minimal amount of static, depending on which room I'm in. Previously I tried the Fisher Price Soothing Dreams monitor which had so much static I could barely hear my son's loudest cries. I also tried the Graco Listen & Talk 900 megahertz which emitted these loud buzzing sounds out of both the nursery and parent units. Both of those monitors were double the price of the Sound n Lights. Save your money and get this one instead!

Being that I was having my first baby, I didn't know much about what to get ahead of time. As far as monitors go, I did A LOT of research and read all the reviews. I ended up registering for the Bebe monitor ... . Well, no one bought it for us, and so since we were trying to watch our money, my husband (who also did his own research on baby monitors) ended up coming home with this Fisher Price Sights and Sounds monitor. I was pretty skeptical, but figured it was worth trying. I am SO GLAD that we didn't get that expensive monitor. The Fisher Price monitor works fantastic! No static or buzzing. (Regarding the buzzing, I have heard that if the monitor buzzes, there may be interference from another large appliance close by such as a television, large fish tank, or whatever...) We sleep very sound knowing that we can keep an ear on our precious baby without having to worry if we are missing anything. I highly recommend this product!

I received the GRACO dual receivers as a baby shower gift. This monitor was not very good. It had so much static. It did its job, so I kept it. However, I refused to take it with me traveling. I travel to Indiana because my younger sister lives there. She has a two story house and when I would put the baby down I couldn't hear her cry from downstairs. I went to the store and found this monitor. It was only $20 so I figured if it worked even half as well as the GRACO it would be okay. Let me tell you, it is great. I could hear the TV in the next room. I could hear the fan rotating. I could even hear her roll over. On top of that, I could see her larger movements with the lights. When she cried all the lights glowed. I was tempted to take this monitor back home with me and bring the one I have in my house to Indiana my next visit. This is a great monitor, don't be fooled because it is cheap that it isn't good. It is great.

The best monitor ever!,

I bought and returned almost every monitor in the store. After the second or third time of returning I was going to give up but decided to buy the two that were rated the higest on this site. This one and the First Years Crisp N' Clear. I found that the Crisp and Clear to have just as much static as the other models. I was told that the reason that Fisher Price Sounds N' Lights is so clear (I do not get any static) is because it is less than 900mhz so you are not on the busy cordless and cell phone and radio frequencies. It is too low to pick up anything but your baby -- I was suprised that it also picked up my baby breathing from the other side of the house. It is a bonus that the best is also the cheapest!

after having one very good monitor for several years (which broke right before our 3rd baby was born) we had to go out looking for something new. i purchased an expensive graco monitor that was on sale thinking i fell into a great bargain but was disapointed. the volume was very loud, even on the lowest setting and distracting since i could hear all the tansmitter noise from it just being on. it went right back to the store! the sound and lights monitor allows me to turn the volume all the way down (which is not silent but very very soft) and just use the lights to keep an eye on the baby. i can hear everything when i turn the volume up, including the whir of computer in my room where the baby is also. it is so sensitive and clear that if the window is open in the room where the transmitter is i can hear what is going on outside through the monitor from downstairs! but it's nice to be able to turn the volume all the way down and not be hit by a constant barrage of noise that i do not need to listen to, e.g.: dogs barking outside, geese honking (though the only interference i get is a slight static from my under-cabinet halogen lights -- moving the receiver away takes care of the problem)! as an experienced mom i can often tell by the lights if the baby needs to be picked up, and if in doubt, i just turn up the volume! it's perfect and so is the price!

The best monitor on the market,

I just purchased this monitor after the cordless one I had stopped working. It is crystal clear with no interference. I can't stress enough how pleased I am with it. Fisher-Price also makes the Sounds'N Light model with dual receivers. If you are as frustrated as I was with interference, try this monitor.

We registered for this and received it as a shower gift. After only 5 minutes of use, it went right back into the box. The static it picked up was terrible. Not only did it mask any low sounds coming from the baby but it was simply annoying to sit and listen to that static. I suppose we would have gotten used to it, like the hum of lots of flourescent lights. You have to turn it up to hear the baby which only increased the volume of static.Needless to say, it went back to the store. We found a 900MHz model made by Sony (model 910) which is excellent. It's the only 900MHz model that I've seen that has 27 different channels to avoid static and interference with any cordless phones at the same frequency. I didn't find many reviews for this product but I went ahead with the purchase, relying on my past satisfaction with Sony products. It works great with no static and it picks up the slightest whisper from ten feet away, if desired. You can turn down the receiver volume if you only wish to hear baby crying. If you can find it, buy this baby monitor.

I absolutely disagree with all the bad reviews. I had a Graco 900mhz monitor that I returned and got this one due to the good reviews it had at the time. Now I see all the bad ones, but fortunately I can disagree. When the volume is high I can even hear the clock in my son't room tick. There has never been any static in the 6 months that I have used this monitor. I have to admit that I haven't used it with batteries, so can't comment on that part - I probably will never use it with batteries. I am very glad I exchanged my other monitor and got this one. I strongly recommend you try this one. For the price you can't go wrong. If it doesn't work take it back then.

I was in need of a third monitor for my home. I have tried many monitors and nothing would work since I already have 2 monitors in use. I was told that I was very lucky to have 2 working, and that I would not be able to have 3 monitors in use at the same time. I decided to try the Sounds N Lights Monitor and so far it's awesome! I have very little static, but it's very minimal compared to the others I have tried. I'm very pleased to have found this monitor because now I can sleep easier being able to hear all 3 of my children, which sleep in different rooms!
