Singing Fun for the whole family!, July 17, 2007
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fisher-Price Star Station (Toy)
I bought this for my 3 year old daughter and surprisingly, it has been alot of fun for the adults in our family too. The quality of the picture could be a little bit better but it is still good enough to see our facial expressions and to be silly on TV!! Even cooler is that you can record your crazy singing on the VCR or DVR! It's very cool and the more you play with it the more fun it becomes! I highly recommend the later ROMS that were introduced for it - which are songs that little kids would like more look for Kidz Bop Sing Along Favorites and Animal Favorites. My daugther really got into this toy more when we had these "kiddie" songs for her to listen to. Since she doesn't listen to pop music the other Rom Packs weren't quite interesting to her, with the exception of the one that comes with it because it includes the song: Who let the dogs out & she just loves that song!! It's great to capture her singing to these songs on the VCR!

The Box Picture is a bit misleading, February 3, 2007
This review is from: Fisher-Price Star Station (Toy)
The camera inside the console was poor enough that the room had to be flooded with light just to get some kind of picture - and even then the image was still black on all corners and all of the color so faded as to nearly be black and white. Certainly, the picture was nothing like on the box and I'm not sure if it didn't like my TV or what (a flatscreen Sony). Standing next to a fully open sliding door on a sunny, light-flooded California afternoon still yielded a really bad, nearly black picture.
The microphone didn't pick up the voice unless you closed your lips over the entire head - and then you can't sing because your lips are glued to it. Not to mention sanitary concerns. This makes it impossible for the young ones as well.
I'm not sure why this product was so bad since I trust Mattel and Fisher Price. If just the picture had been poor, I would have tried to exchange it and assumed a problem on my end. But with even the microphone (which doesn't connect to anything of mine) being so bad as to be useless, I decided to steer clear of this product and returned for a refund.
Incidentally, the songs on the cartridges are redone and not the original tunes. They are made 'kid friendly' so can be a bit irritating.
