Although the idea is fun the actual toy lacks a good visual image display of your toddler. We took ours back because the clarity is pretty poor even with the right lighting. If you have a video camera and a cd player save your money and plug the video camera into the tv, turn it on and let your toddler watch themselves dance and sing to any cd you put in. Buy them a pretend microphone and you are all set.

Our 2 1/2 year old recently has discovered herself in every security camera as of late so this toy is terrific! This was a gift that our daughter just loves! We had no problems plugging it into our tv because it has 3 color coded cords. The picture is NOT as clear as it shows on the box - but considering the price and that our daughter loves music, dancing and seeing herself on tv and as our daughter says "that's cool!"

If you get this make sure that you have all of the batteries. You'l need 3 AAA for the microphone and 6 C batteries for the Star Station.

Their are five special ways you can see yourself on tv regular screen, double vision, kaleidoscope ( bug vision ), color warp and a star. It comes with a Kids Bop cartridge that has 4 songs - SK8er Boi, All Star, Hey ya and Who let the dog out.

Now, hopefully down the road Fisher Price could joined forces with The Wiggles and have a cartridge with some of their songs . My daughter would really like that!

I bought this for my 4 year old for her birthday and it is terrible. After listening to one song, she told me it was boring. I even bought some additional song packs, but they are not music that she relates to. She loves to sing and dance, but if she is singing, she can't hear the musical recording. The clarity of the picture on the screen is not what I would consider a high quality and the star image never appears on my screen. Instead it appears even darker then the normal image.

To make matters even worse is that you must put batteries in it and the instructions specifically state that if you do not turn off the device after each use, it does not turn off automatically. Therefore, you are required to turn off and turn on with each use.

Most of the songs are far over my child's head and even with buying additional song cartridges, I don't think we will ever get our money out of this toy.

looks and works great in the store but, when you hook it up to your tv the picture you get is nothing like what you see on the display. My 3 year old was loving the music,and the idea of seeing her self on the display in the store. So, I eagerly bought it for her. After hooking it up witch was a snap. Boy were we dissapointed. Even with the proper lighting your picture is just to dark not at all what it was like on the stores display. Then to make matters worse the picture wheel on the top of the toy stoped turning after about 10 minutes of play. Back to the store this went funny thing about this is my daughter did'nt even care. Now when we pass the display in the store she says that garbage right mom.

I don't have this toy -- I am thinking of buying it. So ignore my rating -- I wasn't allowed to post without one.

I just wanted to point out that if you don't like the song cartriges, the audio plug in will hook you up to any CD player. You can put on nursery rhymes, Xmas music, whatever.

I Purchased this toy for my triplets to entertain them selves for a birthday gift. Once it was hooked up, they laughed at seeing themselves on the tv, however, they could not hear the words when the machine was on. Perhaps if it has a sound button so you could raise the level of music on it it might be more enjoyable. However, after purchasing this toy and the limited amount of music that was avaiable for purchase with it, (not to mention the amount of battery's with no power cord)I returned the toy to the store less than a day that I had it and my children choose V-Tech, Vsmile instead, now that's a great toy!!!!!!!!!

My daughter (age 5) really enjoys the Star Station. I recently bought it for her along with the extra cartridges of Kidz Bop Songs. These songs are fantastic and the Star Station allows her to pretend that she is performing as one of the Kidz Bop Kids. There is a button on the microphone that allows your child to add special effects on screen. You can also hook it up to your VCR and actually record the video they are making. All in all I find the Star Station brings her hours of fun and entertainment.

Picture quality is horrible, and eats up batteries. Huge waste of money, even with my 25% coupon.

Does this unit capture great video? No Way. Is the video decent? Hardly. Is the music great for little kids? They will not recognize most of the songs. But that is the bad. The unit is pretty sturdy. Best of all, your kids will love it. For years kids have loved the portable microphone/tape recorder. It was never great quality and the kids never cared. This is the same concept. NOt great quality, but your kids will just love hearing and seeing themselves on your TV. Get this toy. Your kids will still love it.

I didn't listen to those who reviewed before me! I was just convinced that the Star Station couldn't be as bad as everyone made it out to be. Well, I was wrong. It's terrible. The picture is awful and most kids who would enjoy this equipment don't know the songs that are available. I am so disappointed in Fisher-Price! Great concept, terrible delivery! Save your money and wait for something better to arrive on the scene. My 5 year old has played with it once since receiving it a week ago.
