5.0 out of 5 stars My Son loves this toy!
First of all let me say Fisher Price did a good job on the commercial for this toy alone because my nine month old son stopped playing with his blocks on the floor to clap his hands and "talk" to the T.V when the commercial came on. It was hilarious. When we saw it in the store a few weeks later we let him play around with it a little bit and he was so enthusiastic that...

My 22 month old daughter received this toy as a Christmas present, and likes it but it doesn't hold her attention for long. So far, we haven't been able to get it out of demo mode and it only plays 1/2 of each song before fading out. 5.0 out of 5 stars My Son loves this toy!, October 25, 2009

First of all let me say Fisher Price did a good job on the commercial for this toy alone because my nine month old son stopped playing with his blocks on the floor to clap his hands and "talk" to the T.V when the commercial came on. It was hilarious. When we saw it in the store a few weeks later we let him play around with it a little bit and he was so enthusiastic that we broke down and bought it. I do think it was on the pricy side but he seems to really love it. He interacts with it all on his own. He likes the ball on the guitar the best. He kind of spins it and it plays a guitar "solo". The music is pleasant and not annoying like some baby toys, which seems to me to be standard with Fisher Price baby toys. He hasn't figured out how to use the microphone yet but I'm sure he will as he grows older. He can pull up on it; however I do wish the base were a tad bit studier. Overall, a pretty nice toy for an active baby and I'm pleased with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars So fun!, November 13, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
My daughter received this toy for her first birthday about 3 weeks ago and it really has been the favorite. The toys that hang around the edges of it seem pretty useless but the toy over all is a blast. It's so funny to hear her talk in to the microphone, every time she's surprised by how noisy she sounds. She'll stand in front of this toy for minutes at a time hitting all the buttons and messing around. The music isn't even annoying, unlike a lot of baby toys, and the volume is reasonable enough that we can keep it in the TV room and still hear what we're watching. I'll be giving this toy as a gift to many babies in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the songs all the way through!, September 14, 2010
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
I was about to throw this toy out until I read a review that shared how to get it out of Demo mode. Now the songs play all the way through and my 18 mo old has much more interest in it. Under the front left leg, there is a button. Make sure the leg is pushed in as far as it will go flush and the songs should play in their entirty!

This review is from: Fisher-Price Little Superstar Jammin' Band Musical Microphone [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] (Toy)
My 22 month old daughter received this toy as a Christmas present, and likes it but it doesn't hold her attention for long. So far, we haven't been able to get it out of demo mode and it only plays 1/2 of each song before fading out. The reviewers at the Fisher Price website mentioned that tightening the screws that hold the legs on fixes this but we haven't had a chance to try that yet. It seems sturdy enough and the sound is good with decent volume. Like the other reviewers, I find the microphone dissappointing. My daughter likes it well enough, but I can see several areas for improvement.

We bought this item for our daughter's first Christmas. She turned one two days later. I chose it because she loves anything musical. She is now 14 months and this continues to be a toy that she'll play with anytime I put her in front of it. It's definitely a favorite.

Some people have complained about the low volume. If you are sitting on the floor right next to it, as a child would be, it is loud enough. I do have it set for the louder of the two settings. I appreciate that it's not blasting my daughter's ears. I also like that it has a selection of music, not just one that is played over and over again. Of course, by now I'm very familiar with all the songs but I don't find them annoying at all. I'm glad I came back to review this item because my one complaint was that it was too low now that our daughter is walking. Somehow I had missed that it was adjustable. It is now at the taller height and she is delighted.

One warning: do not buy it for the "microphone". It's really just a simple sound amplifier and you have to be really close for it to pick up. She just puts her mouth on it and makes one long noise and it can pick that up and amplify it. Don't expect it to pick up singing.

Finally, the frustration free packaging is terrific. I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old loves it!, October 27, 2011

= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
My husband and I received this as a gift from someone for our 2 year old daughter. She LOVES to dance and sing and this was the PERFECT toy. The only problem we have had, which I figured out today, was the songs would not play all the way through. And our poor Princess would sing along to the songs she knows...only to have it fade out! Needless to say, it was a bit frustrating. I googled trying to figure out the name of the product and then came across the Amazon reviews...and found out that the button under the front left leg needs to be pushed all the way in. *whew* That was a relief.

It is, all-in-all, a great product and our daughter LOVES it. That was going to be my only complaint, but since it was something minor - I give it four stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars My kid likes the commercial better, June 5, 2011

The commercial for this toy makes it look really fun. It's just ok. The microphone doesn't amplify, it
s not educational at all, and an older kid has to bend over to sing into the mic even if it's at the highest setting. This toy kept my kid entertained for a bit, but she got bored quickly. She really only liked it for maybe a 3 month period, if that, while she was learning to pull up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, May 31, 2011

This product is cute but there are definately some things i would change. The legs of it extend out a lot and take up so much space. And despite the long legs, it doesnt seem very stable. When it is pulled up for him to use in a standing position, he can easy push it back and topple it over. Also, the volume is very low. When the music plays, even at the higher volume setting, I still have trouble hearing it, especially if the room isnt completely silent. It comes with a microphone that you are able to sing into, but it is almost impossible to hear your voice from it. Last, when the music mode is set, the songs dont play all the way out and they end very quickly. In general, it definately has some kinks, but it is still fun. My 10month old song loves when the microphone lights up and banging on the key board and rolling the ball on the guitar. Its an okay product but considering the kinks, I think it is overpriced. I kept it cause I wanted as many toys as possible to get my son standing up while he plays and it does accomplish that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Occupies 9 Month Old for Hours!, April 27, 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
In truth, this was not purchased by me or through Amazon. My 9 month old grandson got this from "Santa" for Christmas. This Mimi is impressed! For music lovers, the little guitar plays some pretty impressive guitar riffs for a baby's toy - a blues riff, a classic rock riff, among others. Some of the singing includes some cheerful "Scat". My grandson already tries to repeat the scat lyrics "biddle-lee-bee-bop" into the little microphone. When you sing into the microphone, your voice is amplified slightly and the microphone's face lights up while you are singing into it. The angle of the mike is adjustable and it is fat and well rounded (safety). The recorded voice also provides encouragement "Now you're rockin'!" Pushing the keys on the keyboard lights them up, plays a note and a nursery rhyme when another key is not immediately pressed. "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" are two of the songs. Tapping on the drum launches it into a drum solo. You can make two selection on the "on" switch. Each selection has a different music set for variety - a different set of guitar riffs, drum solos, etc. You can also raise and lower the whole thing to go from sitting play to standing play. Damien has been playing with it since Christmas and is now pulling himself up using the microphone as a grip. I've never seen a toy grab a baby's attention like this one has. He wants it as soon as he wakes up in the morning, wakes from his nap, returns home from outings, etc. I've watched him play with it for two hours straight before without having to chase him down. He loves to "play" it while watching a Baby Einstein Mozart video. I am shopping on Amazon tonight for something similar to this, but not exactly like it, to keep at my house when I babysit. I don't want him to get burned out on it, which is why I am looking for something similar, but not identical. It's just too much to bring to my house with everything else that gets brought along for him. It is lightweight but not something you want to transport unless you are going somewhere for an extended visit since it does not collapse completely and is a relatively larger baby toy. I think part of the appeal is that it is a "desk" level for him so he doesn't have to lean over to play with it like his other keyboard type toys. I just wish Santa wasn't getting all the glory for this one! ;-)
