5.0 out of 5 stars Literally a Life Saver!
As a first time mother, I was naive in thinking my baby was just going to be in my arms all the time, and if she wasn't in my arms, she would be in a sling while I did housework. A caring friend convinced me to at least buy a bouncy/vibrating chair because there will be times when I will need to put my baby down. So I purchased this seat in the Mocha Butterfly design...

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the Job
I bought this bouncer for my parents, so that My husband and I wouldn't have to lug our bouncer back and forth to their house every time we went to visit. It's a nice bouncer, the vibrate feature is great for soothing our little one, but I'm disappointed with the construction and the toy bar. Instead of being a solid frame that the washable cover could be easily removed...

This review is from: Fisher-Price Bouncer, Mocha Butterfly (Baby Product)
As a first time mother, I was naive in thinking my baby was just going to be in my arms all the time, and if she wasn't in my arms, she would be in a sling while I did housework. A caring friend convinced me to at least buy a bouncy/vibrating chair because there will be times when I will need to put my baby down. So I purchased this seat in the Mocha Butterfly design because the color combination was cute.
I never prepared myself for a colicky baby, but I have one! Some nights there is absolutely nothing I can do to soothe her, and I've tried everything! The absolute best way to get her to sleep at night is to swaddle her tightly, put a pacifier in her mouth, and place her in this chair. I assist with the bouncing because she is too young to do it on her own, and I turn the vibration on. Like previous reviews have stated, the battery lasts an extraordinary amount of time (my daughter is 7 weeks old and I'm still on the first battery). I just take the bar with the butterfly off so that I can get her in and out easier. She's too young to care about them yet anyway. If you are looking for a nice chair that is affordable I would highly recommend this one. It has everything you need.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice colors, keeps baby secure, June 18, 2010

We bought this bouncer primarily for the price, but also the good reviews. In most respects, it hasn't disappointed. The colors are vibrant and fun, and the batteries for the vibrating mechanism lasted a surprisingly long time. Note that it doesn't bounce on its own - just gently vibrates. You or baby will have to add the energy to make it bounce.

What's a bit odd is the distance between the toys and the chair - it's just too far for a baby to reach unless they can lean forward and sit up. But if a baby can lean forward and sit up, they're no longer supposed to use the bouncer! So our daughter has reached wistfully for the frog for months now; at almost 4 months old she's close to succeeding, but she's also doing stomach crunches in her chair, so it won't be long before we have to retire this product for something else.

All in all, it's kept her secure and occupied and that's all we could ask for.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice bouncer, February 24, 2011
Good bouncer. Tested quite a few, and this one was the most responsive in terms of "bounciness". Others were very stiff. This one moves very easily when the baby moves. It supports the baby's back. It's quite colourful and was inexpensive. My daughter loves it and stays quite happily entertained in it.
The buckle part has a flap underneath it so that you can't accidentally pinch the baby's leg when buckling your LO in.
It lost a star because it only plays one short tune when you pull the handle on the frog. It would've been better if there were various songs, each with a longer duration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable and Affordable Bouncer, March 22, 2010

I ordered this bouncer for my daughter and she really enjoys it. She loves to gently bounce and play with the hanging toys. The bouncer was easy to put together and sturdy. I recommend this bouncer to others looking for something cute and affordable.

4.0 out of 5 stars good seat for the price, March 9, 2010

I ordered this seat because I liked the simplicity (and price). It is an adorable print/theme with turtles and frogs. When it arrived, it was fairly simple to assemble, but the on/off mechanism did not work...when we put a battery in, it was on all the time. I had to disassemble the on/off switch and fiddle with it to get it to work properly. Since I fixed it, everything works great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the Job, June 27, 2011
I bought this bouncer for my parents, so that My husband and I wouldn't have to lug our bouncer back and forth to their house every time we went to visit. It's a nice bouncer, the vibrate feature is great for soothing our little one, but I'm disappointed with the construction and the toy bar. Instead of being a solid frame that the washable cover could be easily removed from, you have to disassemble the entire bouncer to get the cover off if it gets dirty. The toys on the toy bar are very cheap looking in person, and very HARD plastic. They hang down so close to the infant, my little one kept hitting her head on the toys. The 'musical frog' is nothing special. It only seems to play 1 monotone unrecognizable jingle, that does not entertain my daughter at all. But it holds her in place, lets her sit up and wiggle around in a safe seated position, which she loves. We just take the toy bar off, and let her sit around with the adults. I'm glad this is just our spare bouncer for visits. If you are considering this for a full time bouncer, spend the extra $10 and get a GOOD one. We love our other fisher price bouncer that we use full time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price, November 2, 2011

There are no bells and whistles with this product, it does what it says it will do. I have a more bulky Combi bouncer that is more 'plush' but it is also not as portable as this one is. I like that this one is very portable. You can carry it by the toy bar *not with the baby in it*** so it makes it easy to transfer room to room especially when you're holding the baby in one hand. My other bouncer is too large and awkward to transport with one hand. We find ourselves using this bouncer more often then the more expensive Combi. Go figure:)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Chair, Useless Toy Bar, April 17, 2011
By
S. Hess (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Despite the toy bar being useless, I am giving this a 4-star review because even without the toy bar, this has been an indispensable part of our life with baby from day one. I have never put in the batteries to make it vibrate. I suppose if I had done that, it would be even more relaxing, but it was relaxing enough for our baby to take naps in it from a very young age so I never bothered. This was, in fact, the main product (plus my front-loading hypnotic washing machine) that allowed me to take a shower every morning. It's nice that it's slightly inclined so that you don't have any reflux problems but it's still flat-ish enough to allow the baby to sleep. The seat is all fabric so there are no hard surfaces to give the baby a flat head. We kept this in the kitchen almost the entire time but it's light enough to pick up with one hand while carrying the baby in the other. It's great to have a place to put the baby awake so you can fold laundry, do dishes, etc. The bouncing is responsive and even at a couple of weeks old, the baby waving his arms was able to stimulate movement.

As for the toy bar, it's totally useless. As another person noted, the toys are too far to reach until the baby is too old for the chair. They are permanently attached so you can't extend them. And you can't really attach other toys because these are in the way. Once he realized that the toys were making sounds if I pushed them, he was getting frustrated that he couldn't. Overall, sort of silly dangly things that are just enough in the way that you can't see your baby. So we have had this set up without the toy bar for most of the time. It detaches very easily, so that's a plus. That way, he can track me and we are able to "talk" while I'm doing dishes, having breakfast, etc. I have a friend who has a similar model and her baby talks to the animals. Mine doesn't. So it's nice that the toy bar can be removed so easily.

He's almost 4 months now, and when he's sleepy (early morning, evenings after his bath) it is still a relaxing place for him to hang out. But when he's alert, he is starting to try to sit up so our days with this bouncy chair are numbered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy!, April 1, 2011

This review is from: Fisher-Price Bouncer, Mocha Butterfly (Baby Product)
The Fisher-Price butterfly bouncer did the job. It vibrates, makes music by pulling the center ring and overall very comfortable for baby. It is not fancy, but for the price, it did exactly what it needed to do. I would not pay more for more expensive models, this one was perfect and affordable!

I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice bouncer without overpaying for bells and whistles.
