My 31/2 year old son absolutley loves this toy. We have had it for 3 weeks and he continues to play with it every day. We have worn out 2 sets of batteries fro it already he plays with it so much. The downside is the volume control. We had to place kleenex and a cardboard cutout of blue over the speaker and tape it in order to make it tolerable. I would highly reccommed this toy, however beware that there is no volume control and it is very very loud.

This was purchased as a gift for our 2 1/2 year old and even though he doesn't necessarily follow all the directions, he really loves it for the microphone, lights and music. Our older son (just turned 5) uses it more the way it was intended to be used and enjoys it, too. I got online to check on other cartridges because, quite frankly, Mom and Dad are getting tired of the same few songs over and over again! When I checked out the reviews I was excited to find out about the "hidden" volume control, since that was really our only complaint. Unfortunately, there must be more than one model of this toy, since there was no volume control on ours!! :o( It would definitely be worth checking on this in the store before purchasing it...too bad ours is too used and "loved" to exchange!

WE LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this toy--the other reviewers said there is not a volume control--THERE IS A VOLUME CONTROL, not very noticable, it is on the on/off switch, just put it in the middle and it is on low volume---This is truly the BEST toy!!!

We purchased this toy after having no success or satisfaction with the Little Touch Leappad. My daughter will be two next month and she plays with this toy every day. It is easy for her to use and navigate between the screens. We leave it on the low setting and it isn't annoying but the louder setting we avoid at all costs. You navigate through the different screens by pushing the back or forward arrow buttons. It has a touch screen and on each screen asks your child different things and responds to watch they touch. When it reaches the last screen it automatically rewinds to the beginning. It plays when touched and will stop after your child stops interacting with it. It came on vacation with us and was a definite trip saver, however we didn't use it on the plane so as not to annoy anyone. It worked great in the hotel room and in the rental car especially when we drove 3 hours into Orlando. It has been dropped a few times and it is still going strong. I've changed the batteries once and we've had it for almost two months. We also purchased the Elmo cartridge but this is my daughters' favorite, even though she LOVES Elmo. The only thing I don't like is the microphone. You press the button and speak into it and it magnifies your voice a little bit. It would've been nicer if you could record your voice and play it back. The only thing my daughter uses it for is to drag the machine around. The built in handle gets no use. You have to insert the cartridge into the slot on top and it locks in place. My daughter figured out how to take them out so she does switch them back and forth. When there is no cartridge in the machine it still plays music and lights up when touched. it also cleans easily. I wipe it down with a damp paper towel. This is an excellent toy for toddlers and you can get it with any of their favorite characters. My daughter will go back to it time and time again throughout the day and I think the only other toy that gets more use are her care bears which she carries around everywhere.

I called Fisher Price customer service to see if there are in fact two models one with and one without a volume control and that is the case. The older model does not have a volume control. I purchased one with the volume control and my daughter simple loves it. The only problem is that I should by stock in a battery company since she plays with it all day long. A suggestion is make sure that you get an additional tape since the repitition of the songs may make you a little crazy.

My 2 year old got this for her birthday and I like it! She has learned to change the screens, use the microphone and sing the songs. She has yet to actually "play" any of the games, but does love the music. She also got a My First LeapPad, but this is easier to use for her age. The only problem is the volume control- there is none! I highly recommend this toy for learning and music fun.

My daughter loves this machine. We have had ir for almosr a year now and it is great. She plays with it everyday, and loves both the Dora and the Blues Clues. My daughter is two and it has held up to her toddler behavior! She has dropped it down the stairs used to jump off of, and the darn thing still works great. The volume is a bit loud but you can adjust the volume to loud or not so loud. All in all a great toy.

My daughter loved it in the store but as soon as we got home home the story started and it wasn't on the right page I called the hotline they told me to reset the game and change the batteries which I did it still did not help. Its going back tommorrow. By the way it is VERY LOUD!!

My 2 year old son loves this toy. He has the Barney and Dora the Explorer cartridges to go along with it and he's very happy. The problem is that all of a sudden, it just won't work! I took it back to Toys R Us once, no problem. I took it back again and bought the warranty. Now I have to take it back again, I really don't know what the problem is - it just shorts out. I can tell you that it's not wear and tear, because the first 2 times it happened just a few days after purchase. If it weren't that my son likes this toy so much, I'd just get rid of it. Not to mention that every time you get a new one, it takes about 20 minutes to open it up because the packaging is SOOOOO hard to get open. There are way too many twist ties holding the toy into the packaging.

I don't really recommend this toy for 2 reasons. First, too loud,apparently I see from another review that newer models have a volume control--this is a must!!! But, the biggest problem I see is that the screen is difficult to see. It is not backlit and the touch screen is very reflective so it is difficult to make things out, especially when trying to identify colors. The idea is great, but it needs some work. I was really disappointed.
