Does not last,

This review is from: Fisher-Price Time for Sleep Monitor with dual receivers (Baby Product)
We bought this for the features: 2 units, nightlight with auto-shutoff, multiple channels, nap timer-great! First, the channels aren't what they are cracked up to be, but it worked ok. Didn't have too much popping sounds that others complained of. What did break was first the nightlight, and a few weeks later, the whole thing went kaput. For $50 I expected this to last longer than 5 months!

The actual range we have on our monitor is over 200' and that's through many interior and exterior walls of our 3 bedroom house. The monitor works just as well whether it's 25' from the transmitter or 200' from the transmitter, the problem is it doesn't work that great at any distance. If you find a good spot for the monitor we get a clear sound from it but if you put your hand near it or someone walks in the path between receiver and transmitter it gets a lot of static. It also gets random static at other times. The light up feature is nice but overall there should be a much better signal with today's digital technology and electronics. For the price I expected much better clarity. On the plus side, when the signal is clear you can hear the faintest of sounds in the baby's room and even people talking outside the room, the dog eating its food 25' away in the kitchen, etc.
In response to the review where they couldn't figure out how to charge it, that's because these are NOT rechargeable units. You either plug them in or use batteries. When you have batteries in and plug it in, it uses the house power not the batteries and was not intended to recharge the batteries or the receiver.

I love this product! The lights work great and for example if its only a small noise only one part of the light lights up so you can clearly see if the baby is just fussing or actually crying. great if your throwing a dinner party and cant hear the monitor itself! I am so happy with this item! I highly recommend!

Terrible reception,
This review is from: Fisher-Price Time for Sleep Monitor with dual receivers (Baby Product)
I have an older Fisher Price model monitor that I'm using (and am very happy with), but needed a second monitor for the baby on the way. The reception on this new monitor is terrible. It seems like any movement in the house creates static on the parent end, so you either hear static/pops constantly or the monitor loses reception completely and beeps. The volume is also much lower than the older one. I can use the old monitor while out in the yard, etc, but you can't hear the new one from near as far away. As with another reviewer, I also don't care for the design of the receiver...It doesn't stand up on surfaces well, and the volume knob is hard to adjust.

Piece of Junk,

I wish 0 stars was an option on this product. We had a previous Fisher Price model that we wore out after two years, so when I looked for a replacement, I thought this would be similar in terms of quality. How wrong I was! First of all, the white noise coming from the parent receiver is quite loud, but when the child actually says something, it's nearly inaudible. We have a small home, and the parent unit shorts out and starts beeping for no apparent reason (no where near the distance it says they will reach). In addition to being much bulkier than they appear in the picture, the monitor design is so poor that half the time they don't even stand up on a flat surface.

Bought this monitor because I liked the different features it had. However, as soon as I needed to charge it, it would not charge. When I called the customer service number, the person I talked to could not even tell me how to charge my monitor. She said it was nowhere in the instruction manual. I ended up returning the product and buying a completely different monitor.
