I bought this for my son's first birthday and he loves it. It sings 3 songs, does the numbers, letters, shapes, and makes these little robot noises between each. The toy is holding up pretty great considering the amount of abuse it had in only a week. My son tries to play with him while he moves, and he also banged it into the floor a couple times. A few times I thought he was going to break it, but it is still in great condition. It is easy for him to play with. Also on the bottom there is a button so if toby is lying down, he won't move, but if he is standing he will move. I personally think that this toy is better than leap frog brand toys.

This toy is great! My son, Drew, loves playing with it. He gets so excited everytime he pushes one of the buttons & another letter, number, shape, or song is said or sang (also, appears on the screen). Drew is learning the basics really well with this toy. I recommend this to anyone since it teaches in such a fun way!

"So cute"... and that's a direct quote from my 2 year old daughter, Alexis. She loves to play with Toby. However, he was bought for our 11 month old son. And while our son likes to play with him too (really just likes to watch the screen with the 'lights' and enjoys dancing while he sings) - he doesn't like Toby as much as his big sister does! Actually, my sons favorite thing to do while playing with Toby is to turn the red antenna on his head round in circles while it makes a clicking noise! LOL! Go figure...I am happy to have finally found a toy that will sing the ENTIRE "ABC" song! Most 'educational' toys that we have around our house, for WHATEVER reason, stop at "G" or "H"! What's the point of that? Toby is a great "toy" to buy to teach your children how to count, how to say their abc's and to teach them basic shapes.

My 2 year old son received this toy for Christmas, and although it is not the most educational toy on the planet, he seems to like it alot. It sings, and counts, and says the letters of the alphabet. The shapes features is a bunch of lighted dots trying to form squares and circles, and doesn't do a very good job. Overall, it is a very durable toy, and fun too. And it has TWO volume levels...even at the highest volume level it doesn't annoy anyone in my family.

I'll break this down for everyone. It does letters, shapes, numbers, and music. It's very durable. My daughter has throw it into walls, against the kitchen table, and even spilled juice on poor toby's face. There's a little "button" on the bottom, almost like a trigger. When sitting on a flat surface, that "trigger" gets pushed in and Toby will dance while he sings. Cute, but, this is where you have to be careful. When my daughter was younger (crawling), she made Toby dance and his hand poked her in the eye. He's not sharp at all, but, it did scare her. She didn't go near him for a week till I told Toby to apologize. Now, onto the features.. It has an alphabet button you press for each letter, and displays the letter on Toby's little screen on his tummy. It does the same for shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle). It displays the shape on the screen so the child can hear and see what shape he's talking about. Again, it does the exact same for numbers. 1-10 For the music part. It sings the ABC's (and displays each letter on the screen), and these other cute songs.. I'll actually be a dork and type out the lyrics (because I hear it ALL the time since she plays with it every single day) "5 little babies, playing in the park.. one saw a dog that began to bark. mommy said look quickly, before it goes away. they all had fun in the park today. 4 little babies, playing in the park.. one saw a bird that began to chirp. daddy said look quickly, before it goes away. they all had fun in the park today. 3 little babies, playing in the park.. one saw a bunny that began to hop. mommy said look quickly, before it goes away. they all had fun in the park today. 2 little babies, playing in the park.. one saw a bee that began to buzz. daddy said look quickly, before it goes away. they all had fun in the park today. 1 little baby, playing in the park.. one saw a squirrel that began to bounce. mommy said look quickly, before it goes away. they all had fun in the park today." and this sweet little lullaby... "me and my teddy, we are best friend. we dance and we sing, until the day ends. when it's bedtime, the moon shines bright. so tuck us in gently, till next daylight." Again, great toy for little ones. :)

Toby is cute but I wished I would have waited a year and just went for Kasey the Kinderbot. Toby is very basic in his teaching. My 2 year old didn't learn anything new from Toby except the 3 songs. Toby only teaches numbers 1-10. When the ABC button is pressed, Toby will say a letter and display it. If you don't keep pressing the button, he says 2 more letters and then will say "bye-bye". I wish when you pressed the button that Toby would go through the whole alphabet without having to keep pushing the button over and over again. It's like that with the numbers and shapes too. My toddler's Toby happened to break something inside the head. I can hear it rattle around inside. I'm not quite sure what happened to it. Toby still moves, but he doesn't have full motion in his head anymore- just partial. I just wish I would have waited a year and went for Kasey who has so much more to offer.

When I first got this for my daughter (at about 13 months old) she was too young and it didn't keep her attention. But not at 20 months old, she loves it and loves especially to sing the alphabet song and view the shapes. This is a good one for the right age!

We bought this last Christmas when my son was 2 1/2. Its a great toy. There are buttons to push for shapes, numbers, letters, and a button where he will sing the entire alphabet song, however, if this button is pushed more then once, the alphabet song will start all over before it finishes. There is no button for colors, but I was able to teach the colors on Toby because his buttons are very vibrant and primary. His head moves back and forth when he is being used, so it looks like he is singing and dancing as well.As far as durability, this totbot has fallen off the kitchen table more times then I can count, has been dropped on the floor and found at the bottom of the toy box, and we still are going strong. The battery's also seem to last a while. I believe I have only replaced them twice. He has an automatic shut off as well, which Im sure saves money on battery's. Toby also come with 2 settings for volume, but even at the highest level, its not overwhelming like some toys can be.

My son loves this robot. It is very educational, plus it sings. Also, it has been dropped several times, and just keeps on ticking.

Alhough my husband likes to say that Toby is The Antichrist, it just ain't so. We received this as part of a gift for our twin boys' first birthday. One of them was immediately taken with it and appropriated it as his own, and his twin apparently respected that and has left Toby alone (and is smart enough to know to offer it to his brother when he's upset). But our Toby-lover has really put this toy through the mill, and it still looks and works as it did when it was just out of the box. The songs aren't annoying (at least any more than they have to be), the voice is friendly and the toy isn't threatening. Toby has gone beyond fun for our one guy; he's a comfort item. I can't tell you how many times we've found our son nestled in his toy box playing with Toby in a sea of stuffed animals. He just plain *loves* the thing. Others have complained that you need to keep pushing buttons for the toy to keep performing, but for my money, that's exactly what it ought to do. When they have to keep pushing buttons to get a response, that's helping their development, not just entertaining them, and that's what it's meant to do. |
