Both of my kids (14 months and 2 1/2) love to draw with the magnetic pen then immediately erase and re-draw. It's great for travelling because you don't need to keep track of lots of paper and crayons, or find a hard surface to lean on. But beware: don't ever put it on the floor! One light step is all it takes to ruin the surface. Anyone with >1 child will wish it came with TWO magnetic pens, unless their kids are very good at sharing!

You can give a MagnaDoodle to any kid who's able to grasp the stylus; just babyproof it by cutting off the string that attaches the stylus to the board, and taking away the smaller accessories until the kid is old enough not to choke. Kid can then scribble to his or her heart's content without making any mess ever, and practicing a lot is how they get ready for pencils and crayons and paint etc. It's also perfect for teaching letters and numbers and shapes since you draw them each time, which is more interesting to little kids than other teaching toys. Our MagnaDoodles have tended to die of being stepped on, which warps the board and makes the erase lever difficult to slide, so keep it off the floor if you want to make it last.

For whatever reason, this toy has been a favorite of my child and any child who visits. Almost any child from two and up should be able to hold and operate this toy themselves, inlcuding wiping away one picture and beginning another. we have brought it everywhere. There is no clean up or mess. We have used it to begin learning letter recognition and how letters are formed. If she "makes a mstake" or does not like how her drawing is turning out, she merely erases it and fixes it herself. It is not the most durable of the Magna Doodle selection of toys, but does offer a large drawing area for its compact size. Parents have stopped me in the grocery store to ask where I got it. (It doesnt seem to be easily found in retail stores) Just when I think my child is losing interest in it, she becomes drawn to it again. I would recommend it for almost any child. It is fun and educational and helps to develop those all-important fine motor co-ordination skills in an entertaining way!

My three children loved the game but it could not past the test of time. Both had only 2 to 3 months on each one of them with average play.

I really like the Magna Doodle when it's big enough. Unfortunately, this one is too dang small. We bought two of these for our kids (ages 2 and 3) for trips. The drawing surface is a good size, and the pad pverall is easy for the kids to handle -- but the "wiping" action doesn't clear the screen in less than 3 or 4 passes, and the action on it is sticky. As a result, most of the image remains until Mommy or Daddy can take a minute and work with the thing to get it off. The larger size doesn't have this issue, by the way. I'd recommend that one.

My daughter, a veteran traveler of countless airplane, car, and train trips, adores this toy. And consequently, so do her parents. Panda used hers from about 18 months old and still loves it at Age 3. The "McDoodle" started off being something of a peekaboo type game (mama, it all gone!), and later she started to write words and draw pictures. Over and over again. It was the first thing we packed in her diaper bag whenever we left for a long trip or just to eat at a restaurant. The Magnadoodle has kept Panda entertained for hours a week. Just be careful not to drop it or step on it, or you'll need to get a new one. We've gone through five or six in the past year and a half, but it's definitely worth it.

my children, ages 2 and 4, loved this! great entertainment in the car, one for each of them, and worth replacing (about to replace both for the first time) even if unfortunately not that durable, but better than dropped pencils or pens and loose sheets of paper floating about in the car. very portable so easily taken into doctor's offices or anywhere you need quiet, creative entertainment!

I've had one for a while now and it is great.I was at a swimming pool and my wife's niece was getting on my nerves. So, I gave her my magnadoodle to use in the pool. No problem with it getting wet. And she loved drawing under water. Why do I have one? Because I am an in-company teacher and I use it as a white board. Works really well for adults- they tend to relax.

My daughter Skye, who turns two next month, LOVES this toy!!! A friend of mine recently brought her four year over for an afternoon visit with Skye and her four year old brother, Nick. When they walked in, Toni was proudly holding on to the Magna Doodle she had gotten as a gift. It didn't take Skye more then a few minutes to get her hot little hands on it and then to sneak off into a corner and play with it ALL BY HERSELF for HOURS!!! GREAT TOY!
