Great Toy for 3 - 5 year old,

This review is from: Fisher-Price Power Wheels Ultimate Terrain Traction Jeep Hurricane (Toy)
My almost 5 year old son loves driving his Jeep all over the neighborhood. Because of the better handling and wheel design (not slanted), the Jeep is remarkably agile. What my kid has done so far:
- Taken the Jeep off road on bike trails - Drive through iced dirt - Drive through 1/2" mud - Drive through 1/4" water puddles - Pull passengers on a tied on Wagon (We almost died laughing) I agree with the previous reviewer that the car is a bit big for a sub 3 year old, but my younger one (2.5) loves being the passenger.

This is my third Power Wheel purchase. My almost 5 year old had a "regular" size Power Wheel Jeep and he loved it. However it doesn't have enough power or traction to get through all terrain. We upgraded to this one. I wasn't very impressed! It doesn't have anymore power than his regular sized jeep. It still can't go up hills and I don't notice it doing anything more than his other. It does have a radio and a clock and does some other cool stuff but performace wise....not any different than the regular jeeps. Why speed more money? You can buy two on the others for the price of this one.

We purchased this for our 4-yr old son back in Christmas (local closeout too low $$$ to print), and recently gave it to him for his birthday. It took me 2 hours to build it, and I couldn't believe the size of it. Our neighbor has a smaller one and this thing dwarfs it!
For the first 3 days we left the speed lock in place so it only went 2.5 mph. The brakes work automatically upon releasing the gas pedal. After removing the speed lock it goes 5mph, and is very agile. It does require 14hrs of charging, but probably lasts a couple of hours on that charge. Overall we are very happy, my son as well by the smiles on his face. Oh yeah, you will need a third garage for this LARGE jeep!

Bought this for our 2.5 year old son, it's a bit big for him now, but we figure by age 3 (summer time), it will be just fine. lots of power, and nice features just right for a little guy. Our son likes the removable engine panel in the front and has found it a perfect place to hide toys and the like. Have not had it in the grass or any other areas where the "ultimate traction" claim could be tested, but from what we have seen indoors one could easily believe that this will make a difference.
One final note, make sure you check the dimensions on this before ordering. it's very large but we recommend it!

What a nightmare!!! Got this toy shipped to Antigua for my 2 and 4 year old for christmas . Paid over 75% in duties and freight. Christmas morning we assembled it and and found the gear assembly was bad and the truck would not move. Needless to say my kids were dissapointed I called Fisher Price yesterday for a replacement part. They were unhelpful and wanted me to return the entire truck. Hard to do when you are 1300 miles away over the ocean. I pleaded for the small replacement gear and they refused!! I ended up buying 2 gear assemblies from a wholesaler in Miami. What terrible service, Fisher Price could of helped me out. I would never buy another toy from these guys again!!!!

This product was very fun while it lasted, but as I will explain, you will wish you never spent the money. After a couple of months the gears began to slip and the cheaply made wheels wore through leaving holes in the plastic tires. I ordered a new set of tires from the company, and they wore out rather quickly as well.
As time went on the gears stripped more and more and both rear wheels stripped at the place where the cheap plastic gear engages the wheels. I turned the jeep over and took everything apart. It clearly needs a new set of gears and new wheels and another set of tires as well. I called the company and after a long wait on hold was told that they no longer sell parts directly and that I must contact the nearest "service center" to order parts. The closest one is 200 miles away. I called the service center in Concord, CA and was told that they cannot sell me the parts. They said I have to bring the vehicle in and have them do it. (This repair is certainly not technically demanding.) They refused to consider the distance I would have to drive, and adamantly refused to sell me the parts. The man was rude and hung up on me. I would not consider spending this much again on such a cheaply made vehicle. When you manufacture things out of cheap plastic, something is bound to need replacement even with utmost care. For the company to then refuse to sell needed parts is beyond ridiculous.

Best purchase ever, not just the product but the response from Mattel/Fisher Price. Our jeep had a cracked seat when it arrived so I called the 800 348 0751 and expressed the issue and with absolutely no Heee-Hawin around a new seat is on its way. I later noticed that the key was no where to be found and again called that 800# and just as quick as I finished a new one was on its way. I am not use to such quick response from ANY company. Customer Friendly should be added to all their products. Oh, I spoke with a live person as well so as you can tell I'm living is SHOCK CITY. As far as the Jeeps performance so far so good and I look forward to many years of service out of this baby.
I'll update later on the actual performance as my lil guy get use to it.

This purchase was made for my 3 year old son at Christmas. It took some warming up to but once he got the hang of it look out. It did not take him long to figure out how to stop so we've had very few collisions, thank goodness. After he's had it awhile we even dared to put it into high. Well that just made it more fun then before. And of course he managed to find the only mud hole in the yard and makes a point to drive through it every time. We've had no problems with safety and he's even learned forward, backward, right turn and left turn from the sounds the jeep makes. This is sure to supply fun for years to come. My only comment is to allow plenty of time for putting it together. Not difficult just time consuming.

Great fun, easy for the kids to learn to operate. For maximum enjoyment you will want to purchase an extra battery due to recharge time of 14-18 hours. For those of you with independent minded kiddos beware, my little guy (3.5) talks frequently about leaving me at home and taking his "Little Jeep" wherever he wants to go.

We initially purchased a Peg-Perego, Gaucho Rock'In Jeep, we spend time assembling it, and the gear shift did not work, it would go forward but not backward, so we had to return it to the store it was purchased from. There we 3 others there that where returned, so I opted not to get another one, and instead by a different product all together.
We then bought this Jeep for our 3 and 5 year old girls, blue is their favorite color. I was hesitant to buy one before, due to safety concerns. They are now at an age where they can understand and have a good command of their turns. The love the Jeep! It Is big as others have mentioned, but it fits in the garage just fine w/ our 2 cars parked. I like that fact that the seats adjust as the kids grow, so you get more years of use. The girls love the radio. For fun my teenage sister even sits in it and drives it! I like that this allows you to set it to the lower gear until they are comfortable for the higher speed. Our girls have taken this over small hills, dirt, grass, sidewalk, gravel (no mud so far) It runs great. We have not had any issues with it. It was a bit more pricier than some of the other jeeps, but I was concerned about durability and workmanship of the products, especially after our experience with the last jeep. This one seemed to have very favorable reviews, i preferred to pay a decent price and have a product that my third baby (on the way) can use, versus a jeep that would only work for a year or 2. For us this was a great purchase. |
