The toy itself is easy for him to put together and take apart and has held up to his abuse with no problems.

The Fisher-Price Dimetrodon is arguably the best dinosaur toy for a budget price one can find. It has great vibrant colors, a cool sinister grin bearing its sharp teeth, and a great sawblade weapon if you use the armor. It's a shame that poor Dimetrodon always seems to be taking a back seat to the others in the series because this one is a perfect design: everything's cool and well-done. In time we have added to the dinosaur army, but Dimetrodon still seems to be the favorite.
We don't usually use the armor, but this one's got a great rotating, moving sawblade and a helmet with nifty eye holes. It comes with "Agent Blue" (all our dinos and color-named Agents are on the same side against all-comers) who has sunglasses because this toy is so cool. It's also a good size for bringing on trips.
If you would like to help educate your Dimetrodon's owner as to exactly what kind of dinosaur it is know that: Dimetrodon is not actually a dinosaur. It lived a long, long time before them and is a "synapsid". It ruled the land like the Tyrannosaurus of its age. This all excusable of course because it is a cool toy and I'm pretty sure there's no evidence to suggest dinosaurs coexisted with humans in mech-armor either.
I recommended this without any reservation, and take my word for it that I know quite a bit about what dinosaur toys are good (of course who cares, so long as your child agrees). Here's to a lifetime of dinosaur fun and don't forget to have your little one watch "Dinosaur Train" too!

Our kids have all of the dinos in the series, and love them. Lots of fun, and as a parent I appreciate the fact that they do not make obnoxious sounds. Armor etc is a bit too elaborate for my taste, but I like the fact that it comes off and I would estimate playtime is about 50/50 armor on/off.

As a side note to the toy development team at Fisher-Price: a Dimetrodon is not a Dinosaur - any kid interested in Dinosaurs could tell you that. Just sayin'.

The Dimetrodon is durable, and the armor and "driver" look great. My only complaint is that the driver is forced to ride the Dimetrodon sideways. It would have been nice if he could ride the dinosaur in a more traditional way.

My other issue isn't so much with the toy itself, but rather the Imaginext Dinosaur mythology surrounding this toy. Aside from this toy, all the "good guys" ride plant-eating dinosaurs, and have yellow or green armor. Meanwhile the "bad guys" ride meat-eating dinosaurs, and have red armor. It makes sense, and the Raptor and T-Rex are currently the only "bad guys" in the Imaginext dinosaur line.

However, the Dimetrodon is a meat-eater, and for some reason he has yellow armor, and seems to be a good guy. Maybe he's a former bad-guy that became good (like Vegeta of Dragonball Z fame), or maybe the designers weren't thinking about it. I think the Dimetrodon should have had red (rather than yellow) armor, and the driver should have been one of the little ninja-looking guys like the Raptor (again, in red armor).

So far, the good guys VASTLY outnumber the bad guys, and they need more recruits. The meat-eating Dimetrodon should have been a no brainer.

I bought my 4 year old grandson these last Christmas. He loves dinosaurs, and really enjoys playing with them. The accessories are removable, and he plays with them both with and without them. Bright, fun toys.

My nephew loves these dinosaurs. They are durable and large so no small parts can be swallowed. Definitely will buy more.
