Book Description

September 1, 1995
A Fly Fisherman's Guide to Atlantic Baitfish & Other Food Sources is meant to help fly anglers improve their catching ability by showing them the most important food items eaten by the fish they are angling for. By paying proper attention to the size, color and habits of different bait organisms, the saltwater fly angler can "match the hatch," so to speak, which his freshwater counterpart has learned to expertly do. The author relates important and very useful fly tying and fishing suggestions for each food source based on his almost three decades of saltwater angling and observation. With its clear photographs and informative text this volume will enrich your saltwater fly angling adventures for some really big and exciting gamefish!

Review

"What should I tie on the end of my line?" No fishing experience off the shores of the Atlantic is complete with Alan Caolo's Fly Fisherman's Guide to Atlantic Baitfish & Other Food Sources, a guide to the most important food sources of the Atlantic's coastal game fish. Caolo (with 28 years of experience fishing the Atlantic coast) knows the fish and he knows what they eat, and in this book he shares this vital information. Caolo covers the food source, its behaviors, predators, distribution along the coast, when it inhabits the waters, plus suggested hooks, patterns and techniques. With each new fishing season there are more and more new anglers along the Atlantic, they are enthusiastic and stay that way despite the difficulties they face as saltwater fly anglers. Each and every one will delight in their angling experiences aided and abetted by reading Fly Fisherman's Guide to Atlantic Baitfish & Other Food Sources. -- Midwest Book Review

This review is from: Fly Fisherman's Guide to Atlantic Baitfish & Other Food Sources (Paperback)
Other than the excellent photos, I didn't see any reason to own this book - especially with no Amazon discount. Overly generic fly tying descriptions are not very helpful.
