A versatile and favorite toy of kids, yet may annoy parents,

This is a great toy for your children...colorful, moving fish with the the "Three Little Fishes" song playing over and over and over again, hence the annoyance. You will find that song in your head for hours after. But kids like it because you can use the cards to play matching games or simply work on the coordination exercise of catching the fish. This is one of my three year old's favorite toys. He loves the colors and the movement. It's interactive and it gives him a chance to play with others and learn rules, turn taking, etc. And go fishing like Daddy!

Fishin' Around was a hit in our house right away. It's upbeat music, eight colorful fish and four little fishing poles get your attention. The concept of fishing alone is not very educational, but the manufacturer has included playing cards to direct the participants in what fish they are to catch. As a result the child concentrates on color recognition and eye-hand coordination as the fish revolve around their circular pond. (Lately we play without the cards and just race to see who gets the most fish.) The overall length each match is short (2-4 minutes) just right for most toddlers. We'll play 5 or 6 times until my three year old moves onto something else. It's a good introduction to sitting down and "playing a game".

My children (ages 2.8 and 3.8 yrs.) and I really like this game when we can find all the pieces (fishing rods and fish). The sound of it drives you crazy after a while. Even after the game is turned off the kids go around humming that melodious tune, whatever it is. The games pluses are that it helps develop eye-hand coordination, pattern recognition, and it provides plenty of fun for the kids. I would love it if I could turn the volume down, or somehow rig it so that it played no sound at all.

This game is a favorite of every little kid who has seen it at our house - it is fun! The little fish sometimes get lost under the sofa and after a year of use their little sticker eyes are starting to wear off, but otherwise the game has not broken and is still running on the initial batteries despite regular use. However, the annoying and repetitive grinding music makes sure that you don't forget to shut the toy off! If you can bear to listen to the noise, this is a great game for little kids. It encourages turn taking, color and number ID, and hand-eye coordination.

this toy is a real hit with my two year old and her friends (age 2-4). They will sit for hours continously playing the game. The only downside is that the music, although catchy , is a little loud and can get annoying after they've been playing it for awhile.

This game was my 2 year old's favorite thing he received for Christmas. He is still playing with at least a couple of times a week. The song can drive you a little crazy. We actually covered the speaker with masking tape so it is not as loud. The game teaches colors and small hand coordination. Both of my kids really enjoy it.

My son received this as a gift for his 4th birthday and it was a hit with all the kids there, ages 3-50.
It is one of the rare toys that he still plays with a year later. What I loved about this is that he can play it by himself or with friends. It is very easy and entertaining.

This game provided at least 45 minutes of enjoyment for my 2- 1/2 year old grandson. The same day, he went back two or more times for "more". We were amazed that it went over so well as it was mfr. recommended for 3 year olds. He had no trouble with catching the fish, but we are waiting to "deal" the cards as he gets older. The music is fun, but it's easier on the ears if it is on the carpet.
We did have to exchange the first game we bought due to gear problems. The second one works just fine. It's a great game to keep at "Grandma's house" to give him something special to do with us older folks. A Grandma P.S. Fast-forward 3 years to 4-1-08: That little 2-1/2 year old grandson is now almost 6 and he has a little brother who is three. They have a little sister 2 years old now and she loves it too. It's the first thing she runs to when she comes. It's a big hit here at Grammy's house with all of them. Another 2 year old grandson lives 5 hrs. away, so I'm hoping to get one to send to him.

My daughter received this when she was 3. She loved it, and usually played the game without the cards, but using the hooks to catch the fish as they swim around. Over the next 3 years, she and her baby brother wore this game out! (The board became scratchy and the magnetized fish would no longer "stick.") My son cried for it to work again, and we eventually bought a new one for him when he turned 3. Yes, it is a noisy game, but we've easily solved this problem by placing the game on a bed or pillow to muffle it. My son loves to smack the turtle (which turns the game and song on) and leave the game on. When his friends come over, this is the first game they always play. What really drives me crazy is not knowing all the words to the song . . . "and they swam and they swam all over the dam!"

The above title are the words of my 3 year old neice. She loves the game - The game is colorful as well as durable. She can take out the game and set it up and even put it away all by herself. It's easy to turn on and off. I think the only drawback from having this game and it's not for the kids - it's for the adults is that there is no volume on/off or control switch to lower the volume. So this can be annoying. Other than that the game is lots of fun and she loves it.
