1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money on this book, January 7, 2008
As the name would suggest, this book is intended to give readers insights into the different fishing grounds in the Gulf of Maine. This edition has recently been republished from a much older version of the book. I was hoping to learn more about the well known grounds such as Jeffries, Cashes and Platts - but more importantly some of the lesser known grounds.

The descriptions of the grounds are great, but the book was published without any of the maps, tables and diagrams referred to in the text. Additionally, there are no latitude or longitude coordinates, making it impossible to know where the grounds actually are. For example, "16 miles south east of Portland" is not descriptive enough (remember there are no maps) to actually find. Making it worse is many of the locations described piggyback off of prior grounds - so if I didn't know where the first one was, I would not be able to find the second. Also, the index of grounds at the back does not have corresponding page numbers to refer to.

The publishers need to print this text with the corresponding maps - otherwise it is a complete waste of money. Spare yourself the frustration and disappointment.
