This hat is the best hiking hat I've found. It keeps the sun out of the eyes and off the neck for most of the day. Although there is room for improvement, I have yet to find a hat that does the job better. However, for the instruction of those who in the future will be designing hats for hikers and fishermen, here goes.

1. There should be a bright white version of this hat. There isn't.

2. This hat is over-dyed. The dyes used to color this hat will wash out, up to a point. I bought a blue version of this hat from Simply Fashions (via eBay), and after a half-dozen washes blue dye was still oozing out during the rinsing and wringing. So I steamed the hat in Rit dye remover to get out as much of the dye as I could, and in fact a lot more dye did come out. But after doing all that, the hat was a nicer, somewhat lighter shade of blue than it had been before. Why the (Chinese) manufacturer used so much dye is a mystery.

3. The brim could be perhaps a half-inch wider. More brim is better, at least until the hat starts looking silly.

4. The fabric on the flat top of the hat is too thin. Around the sides of the crown, it's OK. But if you hold the hat up to the light and look at the top, you can see pinpricks of light where the fabric weave holes are. Those holes are big enough to let the UV pour through. So the new, improved version of this hat should have a double layer of cloth there, and not merely a single layer.

I wish it had some wire embedded in the rim so it could be adjusted. It's very floppy and sometimes interferes with my vision. Otherwise, it's perfect.

I'm not a fisherman, just a hiker that doesn't want to get sunburned. This hat was inexpensive and does the job.

Great for hiking and rafting (or anytime you want to be outside and not get sunburn). It doesn't look too bad. Oh, and it is cheap. Buy it.

My husband has always had trouble finding a hat that fits properly, and this one actually fits his head! It's lighter weight than I expected (relative to the hats he presently owns in the same style), but that is a bonus as far as he is concerned. He's so happy I'm going to order him another one. I hope it washes well, too - I will update the review after I wash it if there are any issues.

I needed something to protect me from the FL sun during theme park photo shoots. This hat does not pass my family's fashion review, but it gets the job done. Comfortable, surprisingly cool even in our heat. Easy to store in camera bag, but shows wrinkles after being folded. I expect to wear it hundreds of times.

This fishing headgear is well made, comfortable, and great for us guys sans hair. The price was very reasonable and delivery was quick. I added several fishing pins to give it my personal character, and it looks just dandy and destinctive. The adjustable chin strap will eliminate the occasional dunking and chasing that I have experienced many times in the past from sudden wind gusts with my now cast off previous fishing hat. I recommend you fishermen and gals buy one, dress it up a bit, and be the envy of your fishin' gang.

In all honesty there is not a lot to say about a hat. Be that as it may, this hat is great at least for my purposes and that is to wear it when outdoors in the southern California desert. Just soak it in water first and it will keep your head cool for a remarkably long time.

Hat works perfect and was delivered within 3 days of purchase...couldn't beat the price and the quality is just fine. I only wish they would get my size in Olive and would get that one also.
