I really like this product. I also have some spiral holders which are OK for fresh water rods, but the larger salt water rods don't fit the spiral. This product easily holds the rod, and rods easily come out when I get a hit. They are light weight, so I cab easily put two atop my tackle bag. Although the second steel shaft is nice, I've used it with only the one shaft and the plastic holder. Inserts into ground simply, but only problem I found is if you put it into soft ground, it may pull out when you lift rod at an angle.
