Lefty Kreh has put together a comprehensive book of clear drawings, coupled with a video of the southpaw himself carrying on about the knots. The knots are for virtually any fishing application, not just for fly fishing. The book is ring bound and sturdily covered for field used. The book and DVD are wonderfully complementary, and I have always enjoyed Kreh's "just folks" stage presence. You can't go wrong with this set.

Having attended Lefty's seminars, I find that his teaching gift is communicated very well in his writings and video.
There are few people in the world that can throw a fly as well as Lefty and know the proper presentation in all conditions and perform that task in an excellent manner.
Knots are so very important and his knowledge of how to tie these knots and teach others to do the same is presented very nicely in the book and on the video. We spend alot of time and money in pursuit of fish and the instruction presented by Lefty will make us all better fisherman.

Thought that this was a hardcover and in a sense it is but a very odd one. The cover is hard but the end papers are glued to what are spiral-bound pages. Why does this matter? The purpose of a spiral-bound cover is to allow the book to be laid flat without the pages turning but if you were to lay this book(let) flat, the end papers would almost certainly tear because the whole thing is glued up in a fashion that prevents the book from remaining open when laid on a flat surface. Very odd and a poorly conceived and executed binding.

A comprehensive book which gives you all the Knots you will need. My only reservation is that I would like to have more technical feedback, eg on breaking strains for each knot, both in Mono and Fluoro.

This book contains many useful fishing knots and tips. Careful reading is necessary to pick up all the valuable tips. For example, the one about spiraling the first two turns of a bimini in braid. This tip fixed a problem I'd been having with unexplained breakages in my biminis!

I rated it 4 stars rather than 5 only because it seems to also contain the odd "item of confusion", for me anyway! For example the Kreh Loop step 2 sketch looks incorrect when compared with both the step 3 sketch and written explanation. Overall though it is a very useful text and DVD combo!

There are a lot of knots used in fly fishing. I was lost in confussion, until I found this jem. Lefty doesn't waste time getting you to the knot required for a particular joint in your tackle, or teaching you how to tie it. This is on my very short list of the best books I read, which includes fiction and nonfiction.

I would highly recommend this book and DVD to any fisherman, or anybody interested in learning more about knots. I checked this book out in our local library and liked it so much that I purchased it for myself. The DVD is Lefty setting in front of a video camera demonstrating how to tie knots. He does an excellent showing you have to tie and telling what knots to use for different applications.

This is a great format the book and dvd together. Watch the video over and over and use the book to refresh your memory as you tie the knots.

I purchased this book recently when I was having trouble keeping leaders attached to my fly line with braided loop ends. I learned how to make a Whipped Loop End right on my fly line from this book. The DVD, which is included was a great help. On the DVD, Lefty talks about all the basics and also demonstrates all of the major knots that comprise the text of the book. It is a very complete work that starts with 3 basic knots and builds up to every knot a light tackle fisherman will ever need to know. A great work from one of the all time greats of flyfishing.

This would be just another Lefty book, except for the dvd included.
Because of the dvd, it's the best fishing knot resource out there.
