Mandatory reading for anyone fishing the SW Virginia area
This book is a must have for anyone fishing or exploring the water in southwest Virginia. The author has done a tremendous job of packing useful information into an easy to read and easy to carry along field guide. You could be new to the area, but with this book you eliminate the guesswork and trial and error. You will be on the water enjoying the fishing and the scenery...

Poor fishing books
Too much "boiler plate" such as "Fish species common...." and too little detail of specific lures and flies, pickup and dropoff points, and river hazards. Books appear to be same as except. Once you quickly read through one of these books, you will not refer to it again.

This review is from: Fishing the Roanoke Valley: An Angler's Guide (Paperback)
This book is a must have for anyone fishing or exploring the water in southwest Virginia. The author has done a tremendous job of packing useful information into an easy to read and easy to carry along field guide. You could be new to the area, but with this book you eliminate the guesswork and trial and error. You will be on the water enjoying the fishing and the scenery 10 minutes after buying this book. I highly reccomend this and all the authors anglers guides. The author also has anglers guides to the New river valley and the soon one on the Shenandoah valley as well.
