Book Description

February 2000
This is a book that recognises that it is the techniques, species or sites alone that attract millions to the sport, but a combination of all three that adds to the sport's complexity and appeal. The authors present the best lies and techniques for catching striped bass, bonito, bluefish, weakfish, false albacore, permit, bonefish, tarpon, snook and redfish. Adding further to the book's appeal, these prized species are sought in the nine best inshore fishing locations along the Atlantic coast. From the Kennebec River in Maine to Key West, Florida, readers will learn what water conditions are most favourable and which flies to present to each fish.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"Fly Fishing for Saltwater's Finest is everything you ever wanted to know about the sport, but were afraid to ask. Written in John Cole's style, it is not only informative, but entertaining as well."

Jose Wejebe Host of ESPN’s Spanish Fly and Saltwater Tackle Box

"If you fly fish the salt, or aspire to do so, you’ll be hooked by this book. John Cole sets the salty scene on the best inshore waters from Maine to Texas, and Brad Burns teaches you how to outsmart the game fish that inhabit those very special places." Duncan Barnes Editor-at-Large, Field & Stream magazine

"Poetry and passion—that’s what the team of Cole and Burns bring to this volume. Fly Fishing for Saltwater's Finest captures the essential spirit of that experience while delivering a post-graduate course on fishing some of the finest saltwater locales in the world."

Harry Vanderweide Editor of The Maine Sportsman Host of Northeast Outdoors

"John Cole and Brad Burns, two of fly fishing’s salt experts, have sandwiched a lot of experience between the front and back covers of this book. For the beginner, it is an invaluable primer, and for the experienced, it is a great refresher course. The authors do everything but make the cast to the fish."

Rip Cunningham Editor in Chief, Salt Water Sportsman magazine

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent title from Burns, March 19, 2000
This review is from: Fly Fishing for Saltwater's Finest (Hardcover)
I used to fish with Brad Burns in the 80's and have to say that he is the best fisherman, and best story teller, that I have ever fished with. This is saying a lot considering all the characters I have met on the water. Brad has an uncanny knack for finding fish and discovering how to lure them to a fly. In addition he has a talent for translating his experiences to the printed page. This book is another example of his lucid and informative style, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try fly fishing in our coastal waters.
