Good, Basic, Easy to understand,
This review is from: A Fishkeeper's Guide to the Tropical Aquarium (Hardcover)
This is a good book for those who are new to the hobby. It is a good, basic book that covers most of the details of setting up an aquarium. The book starts with choosing a tank and goes through filtration and temperature control, gravels, plants, and what fish would be good starters. One complaint, or two actually, would be that it doesn't cover the nitrogen cycle very well at all, which is very important to understand in order to keep a healty tank. Also it doesn't explain what the differences are between the power filters and canister type filters. He seems to focus on the undergravel filters more, obviously his preference. The book is pretty short for the eight bucks their asking. Overall it is a good book for beginners and I would recommend it as a "to get started" book. Four stars for good basic information on how to get started and for basic recommendations on plants and fish for the beginner. It's easy to understand and very nonintimidating, unlike some books written on the subject.
