PowerGear bypass prunner has a 3/4-inch cutting capacity. .View larger. | The 7937 PowerGear pruner is designed to maximize your cutting power when pruning living plants. The Fiskars bypass pruner features patented gearing technology that multiplies force in the middle of the cut where resistance is greatest. This makes every cut three times easier than traditional single-pivot tools. It has helped many of the PowerGear tools earn the Ease-of-Use Commendation from the Arthritis Foundation. Razor-sharp, precision-ground blades cut with less resistance than thicker blades and stay sharp longer. A rust-resistant, low-friction coating makes every cut easier. Additionally, ergonomically designed DuraFrame handles fit your hand comfortably and offer excellent durability. The 7937 PowerGear pruner includes a lifetime warranty.

ease of use,

This review is from: Fiskars 7937 PowerGear Bypass Pruner (Lawn & Patio)
having wasted money on cheaper pruners before, it was about time to buy a decent set.The lower handle doesn't open like with a regular 'scissor' style - it rolls down the palm of the hand. To close regular pruners, you almost have to 'curl' your fingers in, this pruner allows you to 'fold' your fingers in at the knuckle. try this to see what i mean - with your hand palm up, thumb straight out to the side. Fold your fingers at the knuckle so they cover your palm. That's how these pruners cut. now, try using a regular pair of pruners or scissors to see the difference. After half a garden of pruning with these, it feels a LOT better than it did with other pruners. If you've not got the strongest hands in the world, this pruner is for you - it allows you to use the force of your whole hand at the same time not just a few fingers. This same action makes using the pruner while wearing gloves a lot easier too.

arthritis relief,

I first tried this product at the International Master Gardener Conference trade show. The Fiscars rep said they'd be available at any of the big box stores that sell Fiscars products, but that turned out not to be true. My local Home Depot and Target sell the larger "arthritis friendly" model but not this smaller one. The cutting action is smooth and easy and the pruner fits my hand perfectly. If you have arthritis in your thumbs this tool is amazing. Instead of squeezing the handle, your fingers roll towards your thumb so there's very little pressure on your joints. I absolutely love it.

Power for Underpowered Hands,

My Fiskars 3X PowerGear Bypass Pruner performs as advertised, making effortless cuts through live branches up to 3/4-inch in diameter - and sometimes through thicker branches, as well. It's lightweight, yet durable. I have used it continuously for over an hour with no hand-cramping or blisters. I use it on lodgepole pine, spruce, fir, aspen and willow. It cuts through live branches like a hot knife through butter. I wish Fiskars would have made the handles bright red or orange instead of black, however. Black looks sleek but is easily lost among garden and forest foliage when I lay it down to change to another tool. I am going to put red duct tape on the stationary handle.
